Journal of Clinical Pediatrics 2017;35(5):350-354
Objective We aimed to study the characteristics and risk factors for blood transfusion in very low birth weight infants (VLBWI). Methods Clinical data of 180 VLBWI, hospitalized from January, 2012 to June, 2016, were studied retrospectively. The infants were divided into two groups according to whether blood transfusion is administered or not. Two groups were compared with general information, diseases in hospital and treatment taken. Results Of the 180 VLBWI, 118 cases (65.6%) were diagnosed with anemia when hospitalized. 57 cases (31.7%) needed blood transfusion with a mean gestational age of 30.3±1.9 weeks and a mean birth weight of 1233.3±123.7 g, The first time to blood transfusion ranged from 2 to 5 weeks after birth, transfusion volume 20ml/Kg once. Fourty-eight (48) cases (84.2%) only took blood transfusion once. Birth weight, gestational age, basal hemoglobin, hematocrit, volume of blood taking before transfusion, duration of hospitalization, duration of continuous positive airway pressure, duration of paraenteral nutrition, duration of vasoactive drugs used, need for intubation、delivery mode, neonatal respiratory distress syndrome, apnea, neonatal hypothyroidism and patent ductus arteriosus showed significant difference between the two groups. Logistic regression analysis revealed that gestational age, birth weight, basal hemoglobin, long duration of hospital stay and blood loss from laboratory testing were risk factors for blood transfusion in VLBWI (P<0.05). Conclusions The rate of blood transfusion in VLBWI was relatively high. Complex complications, critical condition, blood loss from laboratory testing and basal hemoglobin were main risk factors for blood transfusion.

Methods From January 2015 to June 2016, 155 IBD patients were randomly divided into traditional care group (n=78) and transitional empowerment educa-tion group (n=77). The patients in the traditional care group received clinic outpatient follow-up, and the patients in the transitional empowerment education group received follow-up led by IBD management team. IBD patients in the two groups were investigated with self-management ability questionnaire, self-efficacy scale, and quality of life questionnaire before discharge and the six month after intervention. Results After the sixth month, the total scores on self-management ability (t=7.219, P=0.000), self-efficacy (t=2.845, P=0.005) and quality of life (t=7.705, P=0.000) in the transitional empowerment education group were higher than those of the traditional care group. Conclusion The transitional empowerment education can improve self-management ability, self-efficacy, quality of life of IBD patients.
6.Inhibition of human hepatocellular carcinoma cell proliferation by galactose receptor-mediated c-myc antisense oligonucleotide
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 2000;0(11):-
AIM: To evaluate the inhibitory effect of galactose (Gal)-polyethyleneimine (PEI)-c-myc antisense oligodeoxynucleotide (ASODN) complex on proliferation of human hepatocellular carcinoma cells. METHODS: Human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line Bel-7402 was treated with Gal-PEI-ASODN complex. Cell proliferation was tested by trypan blue dye at different time points and with various concentrations of ASODN treatment. Cell morphology was observed under inverted microscope, cell hypodiploid percentage was analyzed by flow cytometry and cell ultrastructure was observed through electron microscopy. RESULTS: Compared with ASODN group (20 ?mol/L) from (0 h) to 96 h, Gal-PEI-ASODN complex (with ASODN 0.75 ?mol/L) significantly suppressed Bel-7402 cells proliferation, the ASODN concentration within Gal-PEI-ASODN complex and time course acquired were significantly lower and shorter, respectively. Incubated with pure ASODN at different concentrations for 72 hours, cell proliferation was inhibited and IC_(50) was 20.9 ?mol/L; while mediated with galactose receptor for 48 hours, ASODN significantly inhibited cell proliferation and IC_(50) was only 0.294 ?mol/L, the inhibitory efficacy of ASODN enhanced 70.9 folds. While Bel-7402 cells were incubated with Gal-PEI-ASODN complex for 48 hours, cell hypodiploid percentage was much higher than ASODN groups and cell apoptosis was seen under electron microscopy. CONCLUSIONS: Galactose receptor mediated ASODN delivery may significantly increase proliferation inhibition efficacy on Bel-7402 cells. [
7.Differentiation of mesenchymal cells derived from mouse fetal liver into skeletal muscle-like cells in vitro
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 1986;0(04):-
AIM: To study whether mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) from fetal liver can differentiate into skeletal muscle-like cells. METHODS: MSCs were isolated from C57BL/6J mouse fetal liver and were induced by 5-azacytidine and amphotericin B. Myf5 and myogenin were tested by RT-PCR. Desmin and ?-actin was examined by immunocytochemistry. RESULTS: RT-PCR showed that the treated cells expressed Myf5 and myogenin orderly from 6 hours to 72 hours, while the untreated cells did not. Immunocytochemistry confirmed that these cells were positive for desmin and ?-actin and the positive rate was higher in 7 days than that in 14 days. CONCLUSION: MSCs derived from fetal liver can be induced into skeletal muscle-like cells in vitro.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2010;(1):21-24
Objective:To observe the anatomic characteristics of supratubal recess and the morphological change of it in the sick ear. To investigate the relation between the morphological changes of supratubal recess and otitis media.Method:Using high resolution CT to observe and measure the supratubal recess of the normal ears and the ailing ones.Result:For the normal adults, the anteroposterior diameter of the supratubal recess is(3.83±1.28)mm,the vertical diameter(3.67±1.14)mm,the height(3.76±0.36)mm;and the length of the cog is(2.84±0.38)mm.The size of the supratubal recess showed no significant difference between left and right(P>0.05).There was no relationship between the size of the supratubal recess and pneumatization of mastoid cells (P>0.05).There was significant differences in size of the supratubal recess between normal ears and the ears with cholesteatoma(P<0.05),but there was no relationship between the size of the supratubal recess and pneumatization of mastoid cells(P>0.05)in the ears with cholesteatoma. There was no significant differences in size of the supratubal recess between normal ears and the ears with chronic otitis media(P>0.05).In the ears with cholesteatoma,40% had osseous destruction in supratubal recess. Conclusion:For the normal adults, the size of the supratubal recess showed no significant difference between left and right, and there was no relationship between the size of the supratubal recess and pneumatization of mastoid cells. Anterior tympanic isthmus , posterior tympanic isthmus and supratubal recess which is the supplement of the formers constitute the air way between attic and mesotympanum. The supratubal recess of the cholesteatoma is smaller than the normal, when the eustachian tube dysfunction occurs, the air way in the middle ear would herein be affected, and cholesteatoma forms eventually. There was no significant differences in size of the supratubal recess between normal ears and ears with chronic oti-tis media, as in the clinic. The effect of the supratubal recess should be taken into account when we consider the pathogeny and treatment of the middle ear cholesteatoma.
