Chinese Journal of Hypertension 2007;0(05):-
Background Fractalkine(FKN) is a novel chemokine that mediate the adhesion of monocyte to vascular endothelial cell, involving in the development of atherosclerosis(AS).Objective To investigate the effect of interleukin-18(IL-18) on the fractalkine expression in human umbilical vascular endothelial cells(HUVEC),and the role of fractalkine in the monocytes THP-1 adhesion on HUVEC.Methods Fractalkine expression in HUVEC was determined by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR),and the adhesion of THP-1 to HUVEC was assessed by Flow Chamber. Results Incubation of HUVEC with IL-18 upregulated FKN mRNA expression in dose-dependent manner. In the concentration of IL-18 ranged 0,25,50,100 ?g/L,the FKN mRNA was increased from(0.10?0.01),(0.49?0.04),(0.63?0.09) to(0.85?0.07)(P trend
5.Axial symptoms after cervical laminoplasty
Chinese Journal of Orthopaedics 2017;37(9):569-576
Axial symptom, also called axial pain or axial neck pain,is a common complication after posterior cervical spine surgery. The symptom can be neck pain,as well as rigid, tension and dullness. The incidence of axial syndrome is estimated between 5.2% and 61.5%.Often,the symptom does not disappear spontaneously. The quality of patients' life as well as the effectiveness of cervical laminoplasty is affected. It can be divided into early and late axial pain based on the onset time. The mechanism and reason are different, but both are difficult to subside. The incident of axial symptom is relatively high in conventional laminoplasty. However the modified one which preserve posterior ligament-muscular structure can reduce the incidence significantly.C2 spinal process as the attachment of cervical semispinalis, could reduce the incidence of kyphosis after operation. And C7 spinal process is an important structure in posterior ligament-muscular structure. Both should be preserved as much as possible in order to maintain intact attachment of muscles, which facilitates the patient to restore soft tissue tension by rehabilitation.Rigid fixation is another method of modification,it could avoid re-close of the open door, and reduce soft tissue injury. However, attention must be paid not to destroy facet joint to cause new axial symptom.Risk factors of axial symptom include past shoulder and neck pain and stiffness, others remain controversial. There is no correlation between loss of range of motion after surgery as well as change of cervical alignment and axial symptom. It is more likely to be a different result due to muscle atrophy.Although there are no golden standard of laminoplasty, doctors should follow these principles:preserve C2 and C7 spinal process when possible, rigid fixation to avoid reclose, reduce immobilization after operation, and encourage patient to start rehabilitation as early as possible to reduce incident of axial symptom.

Journal of Audiology and Speech Pathology 2009;17(3):261-264
Objective To study the protective role against cisplatin-induced ototoxicity by using radix astra-gali in rats. Methods Forty rats were randomly divided into four groups. Group A received saline as controls. Group B received radix astragali. Group C received injection of cisplatin(4 mg/kg) as experiments for 6 days. Group D received both radix astragali (5 g/kg) and cisplatin (4 mg/kg). Distortion product acoustic emission (DPOAE) was applied to each rat before and 7 days after cisplatin injection. All the animals were sacrificed on the 7th day. Half of the cochleas were observed by frozen section and the apoptosis of hair cells was detected by TUNEL meth-od. Scanning electron microscopy was utilized to evaluate the cochlear morphology of the other rats. Results The DPOAE amplitudes of Group C decreased significantly compared to the group A and group B(P<0.01). The dam-age and apoptosis of hair cells were noted in the group C and group D, while the hair cells of group A and group B showed no sign of apoptosis or damage. Compare to experimental group , the DPOAE amplitudes of group D were higher, and the damage and apoptosis of hair cells were significantly lower(P<0.05). Conclusion This study sug-gests that radix astragali can effectively reduce cisp[atin ototoxicity.
