Objective To analyze the changes of serum total bilirubin (TBil) and gamma glutamyltransferase (GGT) in patients with type 2 diabetes newly diagnosed without complications and explore their relationship with vascular complications of type 2 diabetes. Methods The levels of serum TBil and GGT were determined by automatic biochemical analyzer in 42 healthy person (control group),64patients with type 2 diabetes without complications (diabetes without complications group) and 81 patients with type 2 diabetes with vascular complications (diabetes with complications group). Results The levels of serum TBil and GGT were (7.89 ± 4.81) μ mol/L and (29.81 ± 14.97) U/L in diabetes with complications group. The level of serum TBil was (10.42 ± 3.55) μ mol/L in control group. The levels of serum TBil and GGT were (11.30 ± 4.16) μ mol/L and (47.00 ± 38.57) U/L in diabetes without complications group. The level of serum TBil in diabetes with complications group was lower than that in control group and diabetes without complications group (P < 0.05).The level of serum GGT in diabetes with complications group was lower than that in diabetes without complications group (P < 0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that 24-hour urinary protein excretion, urinary albumin creatinine ratio had negative correlation with serum TBil (P <0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that GGT was the protective factor of diabetic vascular complications (OR =0.965).Conclusion The levels of serum TBil and GGT may be associated with the occurrence and development of vascular lesions in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Objective To investigate the effect of platelet-derived growth factor-D (PDGF-D) on the prostate cancer cells migration and its possible mechanism. Methods The expressions of PDGF-D in LNCaP and PC-3 cells were detected with western blot.PDGF-D siRNA was synthesized according to mRNA sequence of PDGF-D gene and was transfected into PC-3 cell. The cells were treated with PDGF-D and PDGF-D siRNA,the cell migration was examined by Boyden chamber migration assay. The expression changes of VEGF and MMP-9 mRNA were detected by RT-PCR. Results The results of western blot indicated that the PDGF-D protein expression level was lower in LNCaP cells (29.47 ± 1.68) than that in PC-3 cells (63.43 ±2.10),(P < 0.05).PDGF-D siRNA could down-regulate the PDGF-D protein expression in the transfected group (35.19 ± 1.51).The exogenous PDGF-D could promote migration of LNCaP and PC-3cells,and up-regulate the expression of VEGF,MMP-9 mRNA in PC-3 cells (P < 0.05,compared with control group).PDGF-D siRNA inhibited PC-3 cells' migration and decreased the level of VEGF,MMP-9mRNA expression (0.72 ± 0.09 vs 0.43 ± 0.18,0.65 ±0.07 vs 0.22 ± 0.08) (P < 0.05). Conclusion PDGF-D is involved in the promotion of prostate cancer invasion and angiogenesis.

Objective To evaluate the effects of TIMP-1 and Ang-1 gene-modified BMSCs transplantation on the left ventricular function of rats with myocardial infarction. Methods The rat BMSCs were.transfected with eukaryotic expression plasmid encoding TIMP-1 or/and Ang-1 gene by liposome.Acute myocardial infarction was made in male rats by ligation of the left anterior descending (LAD) coronary artery.BMSCs carrying TIMP-1 or/and Ang-1 gene were injected into the ischemic myocardium after LAD ligatior.Four weeks after the administration, cardiac function was assessed by echocardiography and the hearts were harvested and sectioned for immunohistochemistry to examine the apoptosis, the collagen content and angiogenesis density. Results TIMP-1 and Ang-1 genemodified BMSCs transplantation significantly improved the cardiac function, myocardial apoptosis was alleviated, collagen content decreased and the angiogenesis density in border-zone was increased significantly (P<0.05).Conclusions The results suggest that the combination of TIMP-1 and Ang-1-gene modified BMSCs transplantation can improve the cardiac function of rats with myocardial infarction. The increase of the blood supply, the alleviation of myocardial apoptosis and ventricle remolding after myocardial infarction possibly play important roles in the mechanism.

Wound secretion from 20 patients with gaseous gangrene was collected for Gram staining, bacterial culture and drug sensitivity tests. The results indicated that gaseous gangrene was caused by the co-infection of both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria.Gram-negative bacilli were slishtly more common than other aerobic bacteria in gageous gangrene wound, which was different from the findings of ordinary gaseous gangrene.

Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 1986;0(04):-
Aim To investigate the effects of indole-selenium on mice's immunological liver injury. Methods The model of immunological liver injury in mice was prepared. The activities of alanine aminotransferase(ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase(AST) were assayed by spectrophotometry; the levels of nitric oxide(NO) in serum were assayed by Griess method; tumour necrosis factor-? (TNF-?) activity was determined by ridio immunoassay method and the level of interleukin-1(IL-1) was assayed by MTT dye reduction. Results Indole-selenium (5, 10, 20 mg?kg~(-1)) significantly decreased serum transaminase (ALT, AST) levels, attenuated the area and extent of necrosis and reduced the infiltration of inflammatory cells. Furthermore, indole-selenium significantly lowered the increased TNF-? and NO levels in serum and inhibited the production of TNF-? and IL-1 by peritoneal macrophages. Conclusion Indole-selenium possesses amelioration effect on pathology of immunological liver injury in mice, which was related directly with inhibiting the production of TNF-? and NO levels in serum, decreasing the production of TNF-? and IL-1 by peritoneal macrophages.
