Objective: To establish the aortic regurgitation model in Chinese miniature pigs under echocardiography guidance. Methods: The animal models were established by following steps: general anesthesia, measuring body weight and then receiving echocardiography examination to exclude aortic valve lesions; carotid artery was exposured by surgery, catheter was sent to aortic sinus with stiff guide wire penetrates and the position of catheter was adjusted to obtain aortic valve damage. The aortic valve injury and regurgitation were evaluated by ultrasound; then the pigs were killed and the heart was taken to observe aortic valve damage. Results: A total of 7 pigs were used including 4 male and 3 female with the mean body weight of (24.7 ± 3.6) kg. Aortic regurgitation model was successfully established in 5 pigs including 1 mild, 1 mild-moderate, 2 moderate, 1 severe aortic valve regurgitation, and 4 were with valve lealfets perforation and 1 with lealfets tearing. Conclusion:①Echocardiography can smoothly guide wire go through aortic valve and make valve damage at different degrees, it is reliable to establish aortic valve regurgitation model in experimental pigs.②Echocardiography may clearly identify the position and degree for aortic valve injury.

Objective The reliability and validity of the SGGC-Net-based motion capture system(SGGC-Net system)and SIMI system for parsing walking gait were compared using a three-dimensional(3D)motion capture system(Vicon)with marker points as a reference standard. Methods Thirty healthy college students were recruited, and their gait characteristics while walking on a treadmill were analyzed.Kinematic data were collected using the Vicon system, and video data were collected synchronously using four cameras to obtain the right shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle joint angles.Reliability was assessed using intraclass correlation coefficients(ICCs)with 95%confidence intervals and standard error of measurement(SEM).Validity was assessed using multiple correlation coefficients(MCCs)and root mean square errors(RMSEs).Results The ICCs of the maximum and minimum 3D coordinate angles of the upper and lower limb joints of the SGGC-Net system ranged from 0.798-0.990 with an SEM of 0.04°-0.95°,and the ICCs of the SIMI system ranged from 0.650-0.967,with an SEM of 0.31°-1.24°.The ICCs of the SGGC-Net system were higher than those of the SIMI system for all joint angles except for the minimum hip and maximum knee angles.Compared to the joint angle curves derived from the SIMI system, the MCCs of the curves derived from the SGGC-Net system ranged from 0.945-0.996,with RMSEs of 1.44°-4.65°,and the multiple correlation coefficients of the SIMI system ranged from 0.815-0.986,with RMSEs of 2.56°-9.99°.The MCCs of the SGGC-Net system were greater than those of the SIMI system at all angles except for the ankle joint. The RMSEs of the SGGC-Net system were smaller than those of the SIMI system at all angles except for the ankle joints. Conclusions The SGGC-Net system has better reliability and validity than the SIMI system in most of the variables, and it has better repeatability and accuracy in analyzing walking gait.It can be applied to motion capture environments without marker points, such as technical analysis of athletes'movements and clinical gait analysis of special populations.

BACKGROUND/AIMS: Nausea, an unpleasant symptom of diabetic gastroparesis (DMGP), has been reported to be alleviated by needleless transcutaneous electrical acupuncture (TEA). Our study was designed to utilize electroencephalography (EEG) and electrogastrography (EGG) recordings to investigate the central and peripheral responses of TEA in the treatment of nausea in DMGP patients. METHODS: Eleven DMGP subjects underwent simultaneous EEG and EGG testing while grading the severity of nausea following 30-minute intervals of: (1) baseline, (2) visual stimulation (VS) to provoke more nausea, (3) active VS together with TEA, and (4) TEA alone, and a final 15-minute recording without any intervention. RESULTS: The nausea score was increased to 5.9 ± 1.5 with VS (P < 0.05, vs 3.5 ± 1.0 at baseline), then reduced to 3.5 ± 1.2 with VS plus TEA, and to 2.5 ± 1.3 with TEA alone, while it continued at a score of 2.9 ± 1.0 post TEA (all significant, P < 0.05, vs VS without TEA). The mean percentage of normal gastric slow waves was decreased to 60.0 ± 5.7% with VS (P < 0.05, vs 66.6 ± 4.5% at baseline), then improved to 69.2 ± 4.8% with VS plus TEA, and maintained at 70 ± 3.6% with TEA alone. During initial VS, EEG signals showed right inferior frontal activity as the prominent finding, but during VS with TEA, left inferior frontal activity predominated. CONCLUSIONS: In DMGP, TEA improves gastric dysrhythmia and ameliorates nausea. TEA treatment of nausea provoked by VS resulted in a change of dominance from right to left inferior frontal lobe activity. These data provide new understandings of peripheral and central mechanisms for nausea, and potential future directions for DMGP treatment approaches.

Objective To understand the prevalence, treatment and influence factors of hypertension in maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients in Anhui Province. Methods A total of 2724 adult patients on MHD from January 1st 2014 to March 31st 2014 in 26 hospitals of southern, northern and central Anhui Province were investigated.Their demographic characteristics, primary disease, complications, medications, dialysis and laboratory examination were explored. The prevalence treatment rate and control rate of hypertension were analyzed.Associated factors for controlling hypertension [systolic blood pressure (SBP) < 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) < 90 mmHg] were assessed by logistic regression analysis. Results (1) The prevalence of hypertension in the hemodialysis patients was 87.0%.Their treatment rate and control rate were 93.2% and 23.9% respectively. The average of SBP was (145.90±21.18) mmHg,and the DBP on average was (83.60± 12.21) mmHg.The most commonly used anti-hypertensive drug is calcium channel blocker (88.2%).Over one third (45.7%) of patients were treated with two kinds of anti-hypertensive drug,26.2% with 1 kind,21.7% with 3 kinds, and 6.4% with 4 kinds or more.(2) Compared with non-hypertension patients, patients with hypertension have older age, higher body mass index (BMI),phosphorus,SBP and DBP,as well as lower hemoglobin and Kt/V (all P < 0.05).(3) The multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that Ca > 2.50 mmol/L (OR=2.084,95%CI 1.008-4.307,P=0.047) positively correlated with controlling hypertension, while smoke (OR=0.594,95%CI 0.356-0.911,P=0.046) and BMI 18.5 ~ 23.9 kg/m2 (OR=0.516,95%CI 0.293-0.907,P=0.022) negatively correlated with it.Conclusions High prevalence yet low control rate of hypertension in MHD patients in Anhui Province were observed.Hypocalcemia may be a protective factor for hypertension control, while smoke and BMI may be risk factors for it.
