Low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein-1 (LRP-1) is a transmembrane receptor protein locatedon the plasma membrane of the cells and involved in receptor-mediated endocytosis.LRP-1 binds to distinct ligandsthat are structurally and functionally unrelated, which makes it not only mediates endocytosis, but also regulates cell surfaceproteolytic activity and specific intracellular signaling pathways related to multiple links in the process of developmentof atherosclerosis.Moreover, LRP-1 plays an important role in maintaining vascular stability.This review focuses on theprogress in LRP-1-regulated vascular integrity, and provides new insights to the target of the blood vessel diseases.

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of spleen-strengthening,lung-clearing and phlegm-resolving herbs for the treatment of acute attack of chronic obstrustive pulmonary disease(COPD) complicated with systemic inflammatory response syndrome(SIRS),and to observe their effect on nuclear factor ?B(NF-?B)expression level.Methods Sixty qualified patients differentiated as deficiency of spleen and lung,phlegm-heat accumulating the lung were equally randomized into two groups:the control group received routine western medical treatment including oxygen inhalation,antibiotics and bronchodilator,and the treatment group received Chen Xia Liujunzi Decoction and Weijing Decoction,which have the actions of strengthening spleen,clearing lung,and resolving phlegm,one dose per day,for 7 days.The changes of clinical symptoms and signs,blood gas parameters and NF-?B expression level were observed.Results After treatment,clinical symptoms and signs such as cough,expectoration,dyspnea,shortness of breath,and wheeze were relieved in both groups(P

PRL-3, belonging to the family of protein tyrosine phosphatase, has been found to be high expressed in colorectal cancer, gastric cancer, ovarian cancer and melanoma.It also has been reported that PRL-3 plays an important role in the progression of tumor.With the distinction of PRL-3 in tumor progression, especially in the metastatic tumor, there are more and more researches about the regulating mechanism of PRL-3.This paper reviews the development of signaling pathway of PRL-3.

Objective To study the technique and clincal value of biopsy during percutaneous vertebroplasty for the diagnosis of spine lesions.Methods From January 2003 to November 2005,94 patients that had been diagnosed with spinal tumors were admitted to our hospital.In these cases,totally 120 vertebrae were involved,including 3 cervical vertebrae,41 thoracic pieces,72 lumbar segments,and 4 vertebrae.Among the vertebrae,lyric lesions were found in 91,blastic in 9,and mixed in 20.Before operation,primary lesion of the spinal metastatic tumor had been confirmed in 76 patients (87 vertebrae).All the cases received percutaneous vertebroplasty,and biopsy was perfromed during the surgery.The positive rate of the pathological diagnosis was then analyzed.Results The percutaneous vertebroplasty and biopsy were completed in all the cases with a success rate of 100%.Of the 120 vertebrae,the primary diagnosis was confirmed in 114 (positive rate 95.0%),and the positive rate for metastasis cases were 93.1% (81/87).No injuries to the nerve and vessels were found in this series,no patient developeed hematoma or infection after the operation.A mean of 36.4-month follow-up was achieved in 80 patients (range,4 to 68 months),during this period,no tumor cells spreaded along needle tract or implanted into the skin.Conclusions Biopsy during percutaneous vertebroplasty can not only shorten treatment time and save medical cost,but also increase the safty of the surgical treatment as well as the aecruracy of pathological exmaination.

Purpose　To evaluate the clinical safety of ionic contrast media made in china and compare with nonionic contrast media being imported. Methods　Among contrast-enhanced CT 1096 cases, 76% meglumine diatrizoate were administed in 864 cases and ultravist in 232 cases , comparative studies on adverse drug reactions(ADRs) and image quality were performed. Results　In 76% meglumine diatrizoate group , the prevalence of overall and mild -middle ADRs was higher than in the ultravist group , the prevalence of severe and potentially life-threatening ADRs was approximate in the ultravist group , the image quality was well than in the ultravist group.Preventive inoculation alleviated ADRs at all levels. Conclusion　Ionic contrast media made in china was safe and effective in patients without hyperthyroidism after preventive inoculation.

Objective To study clinical results of percutaneous vertebroplasty(PVP) for the treatment of symptomatic vertebral hemangiomas.Methods A total of 10 patients with vertebral hemangioma (thoracic vertebrae,6 patients;lumbar vertebrae,4 patients) were treated from December 2002 to April 2005.Under the guidance of digital subtraction angiography(DSA),a needle was advanced into the vertebral body via a unipedicular or bipedicular approach.The preparation of polymethylmethacrylate(PMMA) was mixed with 3 doses of powder,2 doses of liquid,and 1 dose of contrast until a doughy,cohesive consistency similar to toothpaste was obtained.Then the PMMA cement was injected into the vertebral body by using a high-pressure plunger.The total injection volume ranged 4~6 ml(mean,4.8 ml) in the thoracic vertebrae and 5~8 ml(mean,6.0 ml) in the lumbar vertebrae.Results The procedure was completed smoothly in all 10 patients.The operation time was 25~60 min(mean,39.5 min) and the intraoperative blood loss was 10~50 ml(mean,19.6 ml).No incidence of cement leakage or pulmonary embolism occurred.The 10 patients were followed for 2~30 months(mean,18 months).In 9 patients,free of signs and symptoms was achieved and no vertebral compression fracture or recurrence of hemangioma was observed.One patient with L_3 hemangioma still complained of mild and paroxysmal loin pain at 1 year after procedure,but the patient's normal activities were unaffected and no nervous dysfunction was found.Conclusions Percutaneous vertebroplasty is a safe and effective treatment for symptomatic vertebral hemangiomas.

Objective A retrospective study was carried out for the analysis of correlation of traditional Chinese medical syndrome patterns of asthma patients at period of onset with five-element motions and six climatic factors. Methods All of the subjects were the inpatients of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine admitted from January 20, 2011 to January 19, 2014, matching the year of Xinmao, Renchen, Guisi correspondingly in ancient Chinese calendar. The patients were confirmed as asthma at period of onset and were differentiated into various traditional Chinese medical syndrome patterns. The time of onset was classified into various Yunqi periods according to the theory of five-element motions and six climatic factors, and then the correlation of syndrome patterns with the Yunqi periods was analyzed. Results A total of 308 inpatient case files were collected. In the year of Xinmao (2011) , 31 cases were differentiated as cold pattern asthma, 48 as heat pattern asthma, 6 as turbidity pattern asthma, 5 as wind pattern asthma. In the year of Renchen (2012) , 37 cases were differentiated as cold pattern asthma, 58 as heat pattern asthma, 13 as turbidity pattern asthma, 7 as wind pattern asthma. In the year of Guisi (2013) , 32 cases were differentiated as cold pattern asthma, 47 as heat pattern asthma, 14 as turbidity pattern asthma, 10 as wind pattern asthma. The results of statistical analysis showed that the differences of the distribution of syndrome patterns were insignificant among the year of Xinmao, Renchen, Guisi (P>0.05) . During the 3 years, heat pattern asthma had the highest incidence, cold pattern asthma came next, and turbidity pattern asthma and wind pattern asthma came last. Distribution of syndrome patterns of asthma in the year of Xinmao was consistent with the law of five-element motions and six climatic factors of the year of Xinmao. On the aspects of the theory of six Jianqi ( climatic periods) , the distribution of patterns of asthma in the climatic periods of Chuzhiqi, Erzhiqi, Sizhiqi was consistent with the law of climatic periods, while that in the climatic periods of Sanzhiqi, Wuzhiqi, Liuzhiqi was not consistent with the law of climatic periods. In the year of Renchen, syndrome pattern distribution was not consistent with the law of five-element motions and six climatic factors of the year of Renchen. In the climatic periods of Chuzhiqi, Erzhiqi, Sanzhiqi, the distribution of patterns of asthma was not consistent with the law of climatic periods, while that in the climatic periods of Sizhiqi, Wuzhiqi, Liuzhiqi was consistent with the law of climatic periods. In Guisi year, the distribution of syndrome pattern was not consistent with the law of five-element motions and six climatic factors of Guisi year either. On the aspects of the theory of six Jianqi, except for Erzhiqi, the distribution of patterns of asthma in the other five climatic periods was consistent with the law of climatic periods. Conclusion The theory of five-element motions and six climatic factors has some significance in predicting the pathogenic characteristics of asthma and in guiding the prevention and diag nosis of asthma, but convinced conclusion needs more proof from large-sample clinical trial.

Objective To evaluate the clinical value of transrectal ultrasound guided systematic 13 cores prostate biopsy. Methods A total of 160 patients referred for abnormal digital rectal examination and (or) prostate specific antigen 4ng/ml or greater underwent transrectal ultrasound guided systematic 13 cores prostate biopsy.That was,in addition to the standard sextant biopsies,cores were taken from the far lateral and middle regions of the gland as described by Eskew.Pathological findings of the additional regions were compared with those of the sextant regions.
