Objective To investigate the relationship between CT characteristics and histological differentiation of soft tissue sar-comas.Methods Forty-two cases with pathologically proved soft tissue sarcomas were collected. The tumor size,morphology,den-sity and relationship of the tumor to the adjacent structures on CT were analyzed retrospectively. The value of the CT signs in evalu-ating the histological differentiation of the tumor was explored. Results The maximal diameter of the tumor was over 5 cm in 36 ca-ses.Oval shape was seen in 29 cases and irregular shape was seen in 13 cases.Heterogeneous density was seen in 32 cases including intratumoral calcification in 3 cases and intratumoral necrosis in 22 cases.Adjacent structures were infiltrated in 25 cases.Compared to the pathological results, intratumoral necrosis and invasion of adjacent structures were related to the degree of histological differ-entiation (P <0.05),and the relation coefficients were 0.64 and 0.57,respectively (P <0.01).Conclusion Intratumoral necrosis and invasion of adjacent structures are correlated with the histological differentiation of the soft tissue sarcomas. They may reflect the biological behavior of low-differentiated or undifferentiated soft tissue sarcomas to some extent.

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of Tianwang Buxin Decoction for delirium after hip joint replacement in senile femoral neck fracture patients. Methods A total of 57 senile patients with femoral neck fracture induced by falling were enrolled from the department of arthropathy of Zhongshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine admitted from September of 2009 to February of 2014. The patents were aged over 65 years, and had delirium after hip joint replacement. Random number method was used to divide the patients into Chinese medicine group ( 29 cases) and western medicine group ( 28 cases) , which were given oral use of Tianwang Buxin Decoction and Olanzapine separetely. Before and after treatment, we observed the scores of Delirium Rating Scale (DRS), time for delirium disappearing, and incidence of indifferent mind and somnolence. Results (1) After treatment, DRS scores were obviously decreased in both groups (P<0.01 compared with those before treatment), but the difference was insignificant between the two groups (P>0.05). (2) The difference of time for delirium disappearing was insignificant between the two groups after treatment ( P>0.05). ( 3) After treatment, 7 cases of the control group had indifferent mind or somnolence, accounting for 25%. No case of the treatment group had indifferent mind or somnolence. The difference between the two groups was significant ( P<0.01). Conclusion Oral use of Tianwang Buxin Decoction has the same effect as Olanzapine for the treatment of delirium after hip joint replacement in falling-induced senile femoral neck fracture patients, and has the advantages of having no adverse reaction of indifferent mind or somnolence, and can realize comprehensive treatment by modification of the recipe according to the symptoms.

Retrograde adeno-associated viruses (AAVs) are capable of infecting the axons of projection neurons and serve as a powerful tool for the anatomical and functional characterization of neural networks. However, few retrograde AAV capsids have been shown to offer access to cortical projection neurons across different species and enable the manipulation of neural function in non-human primates (NHPs). Here, we report the development of a novel retrograde AAV capsid, AAV-DJ8R, which efficiently labeled cortical projection neurons after local administration into the striatum of mice and macaques. In addition, intrastriatally injected AAV-DJ8R mediated opsin expression in the mouse motor cortex and induced robust behavioral alterations. Moreover, AAV-DJ8R markedly increased motor cortical neuron firing upon optogenetic light stimulation after viral delivery into the macaque putamen. These data demonstrate the usefulness of AAV-DJ8R as an efficient retrograde tracer for cortical projection neurons in rodents and NHPs and indicate its suitability for use in conducting functional interrogations.
