3.Study on pathogenesis for in-stent restenosis
Journal of Interventional Radiology 2006;0(10):-
In-stent restenosis after interventional treatment remains an unsolved and important clinical problem. The proliferation and migration of arterial smooth muscle cells are key events frequently followed by vascular restenosis after angioplasty and continuous inflammation may also be the other important factor for the restenosis after stenting. Study of the pathogenesis of restenosis may find some potentially novel therapeutic pathways for attenuating in-stent restenosis.

BACKGROUND:Non-hematopoietic cell of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) or mesenchymal progenitor cells can differentiate into bone, cartilage, muscle, tendon, fat and bone marrow matrix in vivo and in vitro, thus becoming very valuable seed cells source in the field of tissue engineering.OBJECTIVE:To construct the tissue engineered tendon withⅠcollagen-polyglycolic acid as a scaffold and bone marrow MSCs as seed cells, and to observe the effect of tissue engineered tendon on repairing achilles tendon defects. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:Randomized controlled animal experiment was performed in the Xiangya Medical College of Central South University in 2003.MATERIALS:Healthy adult rabbits, irrespective of genders, weighing 1.5-2.5 kg,were offered by Animal Center of Xiangya Medical College,Central South University. Polyglycolic acid were purchased from Shandong Weigao Group Kanglida Medical Products Co.,Ltd (KLD Medical).SD rats were sourced from Department of Experimental Animals,Central South University.METHODS:Rabbit bone marrow was extracted to harvest MSCs with centrrfugation and adherence method, then bone marrow MSCs were isolated and amplified. Tail tendon was extracted from SD rats and prepared into type Ⅰ collagen solution, which was mixed and suture cultured with polyglycolic acid to construct collagen-polyglycolic acid scaffold. Other bone marrow MSCs,which were not induced in vitro, were incubated on collagen-polyglycolic acid scaffold to construct tissue engineered rabbit tendon models, with those without cells serving as controls. Thirty rabbit angle skins were cut open to separate tendon and produce a 3-cm defect. Fifteen rats in the experiment group was repaired with tissue engineered tendon, which was previously prepared with autologous bone marrow MSCs,while fifteen rats in the control group was given Ⅰ collagen-polyglycolic acid scaffold.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Effect of tissue engineered tendon on repairing achilles tendon defects in rabbit.RESULTS:No matter whether contains autologous bone marrow MSCs,type I collagen-polyglycolic acid scaffold transplanted into animals exhibited column gel shape by general observation. At 4 weeks following transplantation, cordlike tissues were seen in the transplantation site, polyglycolic acid suture was degraded. At 8 weeks, the tissue engineered tendon tissues were cordlike shaped, white, lustrous and dense. They were well connected with receptor tendon tissues in the experiment group, without adhesion to peripheral tissues. In the control group, the tissues were slender and adhered to peripheral tissues. CONCLUSION:Using typeⅠ collagen-polyglycolic acid as a scaffold and bone marrow MSCs as seed cells, tissue engineered tendon can dramatically promote the repair of achilles tendon defects.

Objective To explore the effect of cilazapril on motor and cognitive function in hypertension with brain stroke. Method 42 hypertensive patients with stroke were divided into cilazapril treatment group(22 cases) and traditi onal treatment group (20 cases). The cilazapril group was treated with Inhibace 2.5 mg~5 mg daily. The traditional group was treated with nifedipine and/or di uretic. The blood pressure was measured twice a day during the treatment course. The activity of daily living (ADL), motor and cognitive function were assessed with Barthel index, Fugl-Meyer and MMSE assessment respectively before and 6 we eks after treatment. Results There were no difference between the two groups on blood pressure effectiveness, but blood pressure was more stable in the cilazapril gro up. Improvement of ADL and lower limb motor function in cilazapril treatment gro up were improved significantly than those of traditional treatment group(P<0.05). Although there was no difference between the two groups in the total value of cognitive function assessment, but the directional ability and memory function in group wa s higher than those in traditional group (P<0.05). Conclusion Cilazapril can decrease blood pressure steadily and can improve the activity of daily living and cognitive function in stroke patients.

Chinese Journal of Sports Medicine 1983;0(03):-
This study was to investigate the influnce of 4 weeks of living high-training low on exercise performance of rowers. Twenty rowers were divided into two groups: ten subjects spent 8-10h per night in a tabernacle simulated at an altitude of 2500m in normobaric hypoxia; 10 control subjects slept at near sea level. During the 4-week periods, all rowers were trained at the same relative or at the same intensity of work in normoxia state. The red cell volume (RCV) , haemoglobin mass (Hb) and hematocrit (HCT) were measured before test, 15th and 30th day of study, and measurements were done on a rowing ergometer at sea-level, which included an ergometer test at 4 mmol/L lactate anaerobic threshold and performance in exercise tasks of 2km, 5km, and a Wingate Anaerobic Test before test and 30th day of study. The results showed that adaptation to simulated moderate altitude can stimulate red cell production sufficiently: increase in red cell volume (RCV) , haemoglobin mass (Hb) and hematocrit (Hct). And there were significant increases in all important parameters at 4 mmol/L lactate anaerobic threshold as well as performance of 5km, while the performance of 2km showed no significant improvement, the mean values of both mean power per kilogram body weight and peak power per kilogram body weight were not increased significantly. In the control group, there were no significant changes in the all abovementioned parameters. The results of this study indicate that living high-training low can improve the aerobic energy-supply systems. We conclude that 4-week of living high and training low can improve sea level endurance performance in rowers.
