Objective To explore the significance and methods of surgical treatment of mammary hyperplasia. Methods Patients with mammary hyperplasia were treated by different operative procedures, and cosmetic operations were performed synchronously on some selected patients. Results 523 cases were treated by surgery. All cases were diagnosed as mammary hyperplasia on the pathological examination and were in good condition postoperatively. The results of synchronous cosmetic operation were satisfactory . Conclusions The surgical treatment of mammary hyperplasia should be done if the efficacy was not satisfatory after the therapy combined traditional chinese medicine with western medicine . The operative indications must be defined carefully.

Objective To investigate the expression of vascular endothelial cell growth factor(VEGF) and its upregulation of matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2)activation in synovial fluid of patients with rheumatoid arthritis(RA)as well as its role in the pathogeneses of RA.Mathods Expression of VEGF and receptor KDR in mononuclear cell(MNC)of synovial fluid of RA patients and controls were determined by Western blot;VEGF levels of supernantants from MNC was determined by ELISA;supernantants from KDR~+ MNC of synovial fluid of RA patients collected after incubation in serum-free medium with or without VEGF, their activity of MMP-2 was measured by gelatinolytic zymography;Boyden chamber-matrigel in vitro invasion assay was used to detect the invasive capacity in vitro in KDR~+ MNC of synovial fluid of RA patients incubat- ed with or without VEGF.Results The expressions of VEGF/KDR in MNC of synovial fluid of RA patients were significantly higher than those of controls;the MMP-2 activity and invasive ability of co-cuhured KDR~+ MNC with VEGF was higher than those of without VEGF.Conclusion VEGF upregulates MMP-2 activation and promotes invasion of MNC of synovial fluid of RA patients by interacting with receptor KDR,indicating that VEGF plays an important role in RA pathology.

The genetic analysis of herpesviruses has been a constant challenge, due to the large, complex genomes of herpesviruses and mutagenesis of viral genes by conventional recombination methods in cell culture. Recently, a completely new approach for full-length infectious clones of herpesviruses based on bacterial artificial chromosomes (BACs) has been developed. This technique allows the maintenance, propagation and genetic modification of the viral genome as a BAC plasmid in E.coli, thus making the procedures fast, safe and effective in prokaryotic cells. This technique also makes it possible for the reconstitution of viral progeny or mutants by transfection of the BAC plasmid into eukaryotic cells, thereby facilitating the analysis of viral gene functions in the context of genome. In this presentation, Epstein-Barr virus was used as an example to describe the principle, establishment of the technique and mutation introduction into the BAC plasmid, and to discuss the perspective in the use of BAC-cloned herpesviruses.

Objective To explore the effect of dimethylformamide(DMF)on the histological structure and enzymes activity in the testis of mice. Methods The KM male mice were treated with DMF by gavage at the doses of 0,0.5,1 and 2 g/kg respectively, once a day,for 30 consecutive days.On day 31,the mice blood samples were collected through eyes and then the mice were killed. Two mice were randomly selected in each group and one testicle was sampled to do the pathological examination, the other one for enzyme activity determination, including succinic acid dehydrogenase(SDH),lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)and acid phosphatase (ACP).Results Compared with the control group, all treated groups showed a significant decrease in body weight(P

OBJECTIVETo explore the diagnostic value of the radiologic characteristics of osteoporotic Kummell's disease.
METHODSTotal 16 patients with pathologically confirmed osteoporotic Kummell's diseases were reviewed from May 2010 to May 2012, including 4 males and 12 females with the mean age of 73.4 years (ranged, 67 to 83 years old). Radiologic imagings of all patients, including X-ray, CT and MRI, were analyzed retrospectively.
RESULTSIntravertebral linear clefts could be seen on the AP and lateral X-ray films of vertebrae. Sagittal and axial CT scans demonstrated the vacuum cleft phenomenon with liquid and air was identified within the vertebral body. Sagittal MRI showed the callapsed vertebral segment and the area of fluid signal with clear and intact border within the vertebral body. The fluid signal was low on T1-weighted images and high on T2-weighted images and stir images, which was corresponding to an intravertebral vacuum cleft.
CONCLUSIONThe radiologic characteristics of Kurmmell's diseases can provide valuable evidences for the early diagnosis.

Background:Dexamethasone can protect mice against the acute inflammatory liver injury by inhibiting innate immune cell function. However, the roles of T cell in this protective effect remain unknown. Aims:To investigate the regulatory effect of dexamethasone on T cell immune response in acute inflammatory liver injury. Methods:Six male C57BL/ 6J mice were randomly divided into 2 groups. One hour before induction of acute inflammatory liver injury by lipopolysaccharide, dexamethasone 5 mg/ kg and PBS were given intraperitoneally in experimental group and model group, respectively. All the mice were sacrificed 12 hours after model construction. The clinical score and liver function parameters were assessed;splenic mononuclear cells were isolated for measurements of T cell activation,as well as cytokine expression, secretion, and transcriptional factor expression for different T-cell subsets. Results:Clinical score and serum levels of transaminase were significantly lower in experimental group when compared with the model group. Meanwhile, percentage of CD44 +CD62L - T cells(i. e. activated or memory T cells)from spleen was significantly decreased in experimental group. Among splenic T cell population, expression and secretion of IFN-γ,a Th1-type cytokine, was decreased;expression and secretion of IL-4,a Th2-type cytokine, percentage of regulatory T cells(Treg cells),and ratios of Th2 / Th1 and Treg/ Th1 were increased;transcriptional factor specific for Th1 cells was down-regulated,and those for Th2 and Treg cells were up-regulated. Conclusions:Dexamethasone inhibits T cell activation and directs the reciprocal T cell lineage differentiation (repressing Th1 cell differentiation, promoting Th2 and Treg cell differentiation),which may contribute to the protection against acute inflammatory liver injury.

AIM: To investigate the behaviour of 3T3 fibroblast and macrophage co-culture on blood fibrin clot or adipose tissue with recombinant basic fibroblast growth factor (rhbFGF). METHODS: MTT method, inverted contrast microscopy, Giemsa staining as well as scanning electron microscope were used in the present study. RESULTS: The effect of rhbFGF on co-culture of 3T3 fibroblast and mouse macrophage on blood fibrin clot in low-serum DMEM with rhbFGF were monitored, and 3T3 fibroblast and macrophage growed well on the blood fibrin blot in low-serum DMEM with rhbFGF. CONCLUSION: The blood fibrin clot, with its low immunogenicity, could be used as a bionic support for three-dimensional tissue culture, and also a physiological carrier to distribute the growth factor rhbFGF for the cells.
