Objective To evaluate the gender differences in neuromuscular blockade induced with rocuronium in patients undergoing abdominal surgery. Methods Twenty-four ASA Ⅰ or Ⅱ patients aged 20-59 yrs undergoing abdominal surgery under general anesthesia were enrolled in this study. Their body mass index (BMI) ranged between 18.5-25 kg?m-2. Patients with neuromuscular disease were excluded and no patient was taking any drug that might influence the effect of muscle relaxant. The patients were divided into male group ( n = 12) and female group (n = 12). The neuromuscular function was monitored and recorded using accelerography (DK-5210, Biometer, Denmark). The response of adductor pollicis muscle to train-of-four (TOF) stimulation of ulnar nerve were recorded. Body temperature was maintained at 36.0-36.9℃ and room temperature at 24-26℃ during surgery. The premedication included intramuscular atropine 0.01 mg?kg-1 and oral diazepam 10 mg. Anesthesia was induced with fentanyl 2-4 ?g?kg-1, propofol 2-3 mg?kg-1 and rocuronium 0.6 mg?kg-1. The patients were intubated and mechanically ventilated (VT = 7-10 ml RR = 12-14 bpm). PET CO2 was maintained between 35-45 mm Hg. Anesthesia was maintained with propofol by TCI (effect-site concentration was set at 3-4 ?g?ml-1) and intermittent i.v. boluses of fentanyl. Rocuronium (1 mg?ml-1) was infused and T1 was maintained at 5%-10% of the control height. At the end of surgery rocuronium infusion was terminated and neostigmine 0.05 mg?kg-1 was given i.v. .Results There were significant differences in body weight and height between male and female groups ( P

Objective To investigate the correlation between the mutation in serum lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2(Lp-PLA2) Ile198Thr, Val279Phe and cerebral infarction in Chinese Han population of Jiangsu Province. Methods One hundred fifty patients with cerebral infarction and 100 healthy controls in Chinese Han population of Jiangsu Province were recruited. The correlation between Val279Phe and Ilel98Thr mutation in Lp-PLA2 gene and cerebral infarction was analyzed using polymerase chain reaction and denaturing high performance liquid chromatography. Results The Val279Phe genotype and the mutant allele frequency in the cerebral infarction group were significantly higher than those in the control group (χ2 were 6. 31and 5. 32, respectively, all P <0. 05), and there was no significant difference between the Ile198Thr genotype and the mutant allele frequency in the control group (χ2 were 0. 039 and 0. 037, respectively, all P >0. 05). Conclusions The Val279Phe mutation in Lp-PLA2 gene may be a genetic risk factor for cerebral infarction in Chinese Han population of Jiangsu Province.

Objective To investigate the effects of Wortmannin combined with mitomycin C (MMC) on the proliferation, apoptosis and expressions of related genes Cyclin D1 and Bad in liver cancer cell line HepG-2. Methods HepG-2 cells (104/ml) were treated with 0,25,50,100,200 or 400 nmol/L Wortmannin,0,1.75,3.75,7.5,15 or 30 nmol/L MMC,or combined concentrations (0,26.875,53.75,107.5,215 or 430 nmol/L) respectively. Cell suppression rate were detected by MTT assay. Nucleus apoptosis of Hep-G-2 cells were examined by Hochest 33258 fluorescent staining. Change of cell cycle and apoptosis in HepG-2 cells were detected by flow cytometry (FCM). Expressions of PI3K/Akt signaling transduction pathway related genes and proteins were tested by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and Western blot analysis. Results The inhibition ratio of cell proliferation was significant higher in combined groups than in either single groups (P

ObjectiveTo explore the best treatment method for patients with pancreatic cancer by analyzing the clinical and survival features.MethodsThe clinical data of 74 patients with pancreatic cancer diagnosed by pathology diagnosis(surgical pathology or biopsy) or clinical diagnosis(imaging + tumor marker CA19-9) were collected. The cases were divided into 5 groups according to different therapy methods:surgery alone group(11 cases),postoperative chemotherapy group(20 cases),palliative chemotherapy group ( 13 cases),palliative radiotherapy group ( 13 cases),untreated group ( 17 cases). The clinical features and overall survival time of patients with pancreatic cancer were analyzed.ResultsThe median overall survival time of postoperative chemotherapy group was longer than that of untreated group (300 d vs.119 d,P < 0.01 ) ; The median overall survival time of surgery alone group, palliative chemotherapy and palliative radiotherapy group had no significant difference compared with that of untreated group (120,164,109 d vs.119 d,P> 0.05 ).The patients with advanced pancreatic cancer often suffered from abdominal pain, jaundice, nausea, vomiting, weight loss and other associated symptoms. The incidence of jaundice of patients undergoing surgery was lower compared with non-surgical patients, but the difference was not significant [ 19.35% (6/31 ) vs.37.21% (16/43),X2 =2.75,P =0.10 ].The incidence of abdominal pain of patients with radiotherapy was lower than that of non-radiotherapy patients[ 23.08% (3/13) vs.68.85%(42/61 ),x2 =12.59,P =0.00 ].The ascites incidence rate was 75.68% (56/74) which shortened the overall survival time, and untreated group had the highest risk rate of ascites.ConclusionsOperation combined with chemotherapy is a better treatment that can improve the overall survival time of patients with pancreatic cancer.Radiotherapy can obviously relieve the abdominal pain.Ascites is a signal of poor prognosis during the treatment process.
