World Science and Technology-Modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2014;(6):1300-1304
This study was aimed to investigate rules of medicine selections of four Meng-He (MH) medical schools. Based on frequency analysis and Apriori algorithm of association rules, data mining was conducted on 60 cases of four MH medical schools in the treatment of Chuan syndrome. The results showed that among 60 cases, Xing-Ren (XR), Ban-Xia (BX), Fu-Ling (FL), Hua-Ju-Hong (HJH), Su-Zi (SZ) and Bu-Gu-Zhi (BGZ) were the most com-monly used single medicine. The most commonly used medicine groups were SZ-HJH-FL, XR-Y i-Y i-Ren (YYR), XR-HJH, XR-SZ and so on. It was concluded that four MH medical schools in the treatment of Chuan syndrome mainly used antitussive and antiasthmatic Chinese medicines such as YR, BX, SZ, and complemented with BGZ for deficiency-nourishing, FL for dampness-removing, HJH for qi-regulating. It provided references for the clinical practice and treatment of Chuan syndrome.

Objective To investigate the cause of non-union and delayed union of femoral and tibia] fractures and assess the clinical outcome after treatment with intramedullary compression interlocking nail (ICIN). Methods From February 1998 to December 2006, 21 patients with non-union and delayed union of femoral and tibial fractures (13 patients with femoral fractures and 8 with tibial fractures) were treated by ICIN. Bone grafting was performed in 18 patients, and the other three patients only rocoived reamed compression nailing. Five patients received bone grafting combined with knee adhesion release operation. Results All patients were followed up for 11.4-36 months (mean 13.6 months). Solid bone union was observed in all patients, with mean bone union time of 8.7 months and without malunion, infection or refracture. According to the Klemm grading, the clinical outcome was graded excellent in 19 patients and good in 2. Conclusions The main causes for non-union and delayed union of femoral and tibial fractures are improper indication selection and incorrect use of implants, which may result in bieenvironment disruption. ICIN shortens the time of functional recovery of knee and ankle joint. ICIN has advantages of stable fixation, early exercise of the knee and ankle as well as early weight loading and hence is one of effective alternatives in treatment of non-union and delayed union of femoral and tibial fractures. ICIN can accelerate the healing of bone and improves the function of knee joint when combined with bone grafting, reamed compression nailing and knee adhesion release.

BACKGROUND:Cel membrane microparticles CD31 and CD54 lead to microvascular injury in the femoral head by mediating vascular inflammatory response, promoting blood clotting, affecting vasomotion and promoting vascular endothelial injury. Studies have verified that membrane particles play an important role in steroid-induced necrosis of the femoral head, but there is no studies concerning relationship between microparticles and alcohol-induced avascular necrosis of femoral head. METHODS/DESIGN:This is a randomized control ed animal study. Healthy male Wistar rats wil be randomly assigned to two groups. In the model group, rats wil be intragastrical y administered hard liquor for 6 consecutive months to prepare models of alcohol-induced avascular necrosis of the femoral head. Blank controls wil be intragastrical y given an equal volume of physiological saline. In 1-6 months of intervention, six rats wil be randomly selected from each group every month. Blood wil be col ected separately. Flow cytometry wil be used to detect serum cel membrane particles CD31, CD54 levels. Bilateral femoral head wil be fixed, decalcified, embedded in wax, and then sections. After hematoxylin-eosin staining, empty bone lacuna wil be quantified under a light microscope to identify femoral head necrosis. Verhoff’s staining and MSB microthrombosis staining wil be used to observe microvascular injury and microvascular thrombosis in the femoral head, and to analyze the correlation of CD31 and CD54 levels with femoral head necrosis, vascular endothelial injury and microvascular thrombosis. DISCUSSION:This study wil investigate the effects of CD31 and CD54 on alcohol-induced avascular necrosis of the femoral head, explore the pathogenesis of alcohol-induced avascular necrosis of the femoral head, provide a new theoretical basis for early diagnosis and early treatment, and may provide a new target for its treatment. ETHICS APPROVAL:The protocol has been approved by the Animal Experimental Ethics Committee of Inner Mongolia Medical University (approval number YKD2016154). Experimental procedures and materials of rats wil be in accordance with the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, which is consistent with the guide of National Institutes of Health. Objective To report the clinical features a nd pathologic findings of 1 case of mixed epithelial and stromal tumor of the ki dney. Methods The patient who had a 20-year history of taking oral contraceptive was a 50-year-old woman with pain in left flank asso ciated with hematuria for half a year.CT and MRI revealed an 8 cm?6 cm cystic a nd solid mass located in the upper pole of the left kidney.A diagnosis of cystic renal carcinoma was made before operation.Radical left nephrectomy was performe d in July 2004. Results The upper pole of the left kidne y was found severely adhesive with peripheral tissues du- ring operation.Gro ssly, the tumor exhibited a 7.9 cm?8.9 cm?9.0 cm multilocular cyst full of coff ee- colored mucoid fluid with varying size ranging from 0.5 to 2.0 cm.Focall y thick-walled cysts with solid areas were seen.Microscopic findings showed the tumor was composed of a mixture of stromal elements formed by spindle cells and epithelial elements that were variable in cell types including cuboidal, columna r and hobnail cells.Differentiation of gastrointestinal tract was found in epith elial elements.Thick-walled blood vessels and distinctive bands of smooth muscl e cells were present in the stromal elements.Immunohistochemical staining reveal ed that the epithelial component was positive for AE1/AE3,and stromal component was positive for ER,PR,and SMA.No specific treatment was given and the patient w as free of signs of recurrence 8 months after operation. Conclusions Mixed epithelial and stromal tumor of the kidney is recognized to b e a kind of benign neoplasm.Differentiation of gastrointestinal tract in epithel ial elements is rare.It should be distinguished from any other benign and malign ant tumors in the kidney.

AIM: To elucidate the relations among proadrenomedullin N terminal 20 peptide (PAMP), adrenomedullin(ADM) and angiotensin Ⅱ (Ang Ⅱ). METHODS: Tissue slices of rat aorta were incubated as follows: (I) increasing concentrations of Ang Ⅱ (10-9, 10-8, 10-) mol/L); (Ⅱ) increasing concentrations of PAMP(10-9, 10-8, 10-)mol/L). The tissue and incubation concentrations of PAMP, ADM and Ang Ⅱ were measured by the radioimmunoassay (RIA). RESULTS: The tissue and incubation concentrations of PAMP and ADM were concentration - dependently increased by Ang Ⅱ, but the tissue and incubation concentrations of Ang Ⅱ can not effected by PAMP. CONCLUSION: AngⅡ markedly stimulate the release of ADM and PAMP. It may be one of the factors which regu- late the synthesis and release of ADM and PAMP. The regulation may play an important role in homastasis regulation of cardiovascular system.

METHODS: Immunohistochemistical staining method ( PV) was adopted to detect the expression of TNF-α and receptor I in pterygium ( 72 eyes ) and para-pterygium conjunctival tissue ( 30 eyes ) . The relationship between the expression and clinical-pathological parameters was also analyzed.
RESULTS:The positive rates of TNF-αwere 65. 3% (47/72), 26. 7% (8/30) in pterygium and para-pterygium conjunctival tissue. The positive expression of TNF-α had statistic difference between the two groups (χ2=12. 706, P<0. 01). The positive rates of TNF-α receptor I were 56. 9% (41/72), 16. 7% (5/30) in pterygium and para-pterygium conjunctival tissue. The positive expression of P55 had statistic difference between the two groups (χ2=13. 875, P<0. 01). The positive rate of TNF-αin recurrent pterygium group was higher than primary pterygium group (χ2=6. 547, P=0. 011). There had no statistically significance of the expression intensity between the two groups (F=1. 288, P=0. 393); the positive rate in advanced pterygium group was higher than quiescent pterygium group (χ2=4. 082, P=0. 043). The expression intensity had no statistically significance between the two groups (F=0. 489, P=0. 708). The positive rate of P55 in recurrent pterygium group was higher than primary pterygium group (χ2 =9. 907, P= 0. 002). There had no statistically significance of the two group's expression intensity ( F = 1. 175, P = 0. 424 ); the positive rate in advanced pterygium group was higher than in quiescent pterygium group (χ2=11. 140, P=0. 001). The expression intensity had no statistically significance between the two groups (F=0. 665, P=0. 621).
CONCLUSION:The expression of TNF-α and P55 are changing according to the development of clinical staging and onset. BACKGROUND:The relationship between long-term heavy drinking and alcohol-induced necrosis of the femoral head has long been clear, but thepathogenesis of alcohol-induced necrosis of the femoral head is currently not fuly understood.
OBJECTIVE:To establish a rat model of alcohol-induced avascular necrosis of femoral head and to study its pathogenesis.
METHODS: Eighty Wistar rats were randomly divided into experimental and control groups (40 rats per group). Rats in the experimental group were intragastricaly administered strong wine 10 mL/kg, once a day, for 6 consecutive days. Rats in the control group were given physiological saline 10mL/kg, once a day, for 6 consecutive days. Bilateral femoral heads were randomly colected from six rats every month for histomorphological observation.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1) Osteonecrosis: in the experimental group, at 3 months, trabecular bone became thin, arranged disorderly, and the number of empty lacuna began to increase. At 6 months, typical osteonecrosis appeared, and vacant lacunaes increased significantly. In the control group, trabecular bone was complete and neatly arranged. Osteocytes were visible in bone lacuna, and normal morphology of cels was seen. (2) Injury of blood vessels: in the experimental group, at 3 months, micro-intimal hyperplasia was observed. Elastic fibers of partial vascular endothelium were reduced. Elastic fiber andmiddle-layer smooth muscle breakage and proliferation were found. At 6 months, above manifestations were more remarkable. In the control group, arteriole film was not thickened, and vessel wal was normal. (3) Formation of microthrombus, in the experimental group, the number of microthrombus was increased at 3 months, and became significant at 6 months. In the control group, the number of microthrombus was not altered. (4) Results indicated that chronic alcohol intake can lead to microvascular endothelial injury in the rat femoral head. Abnormal blood microcirculation was detected in local region, and resulted in avascular necrosis of the femoral head. The degree of necrosis was associated with alcohol intake.

This study was aimed to investigate the distribution of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha)-308 gene polymorphism and its correlation with asthma in TCM syndromes between Han and Uyghur People in Xin-jiang. The polymerase chain reaction - restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method was applied in the detection of TNF-alpha-308 gene polymorphism among 160 bronchial asthma cases and 40 healthy con-trols. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome differentiation standard on bronchial asthma was applied in the syndrome differentiation of 160 bronchial asthma cases. And gene distributions of TCM syndrome differentia-tion were compared. The results showed that there was no significant difference between the genotypes (wild-type and mutant) and allele distribution between the asthma group and the normal control group, the Uyghur asthma group and Uyghur normal control group, the Han asthma group and Han normal control group, Uyghur normal control group and Han normal control group (P > 0.05). There was no significant difference on the TNF-alpha-308 genotype distribution among different TCM syndromes. There was no significant difference on TCM syndrome distribution between Han asthma patients and Uyghur asthma patients. It was concluded that bronchial asthma in Xinjiang may be nothing to do with ethnic group, TNF-alpha-308 gene polymorphism. And the bronchial asthma syndrome differentiation type may be nothing to do with the TNF-alpha-308 genotype distribution.
