AIM: To investigate the clinical effects of intravitreal Bevacizumab for 26 cases with retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) in Zone Ⅰ.
METHODS:A retrospective study. Totally 26 ROP infants between September 2013 and October 2014 diagnosed as high - risk ROP in Zone Ⅰ had been treated with intravitreal bevacizumab. They were divided into three groups, pre - threshold ROP, threshold ROP and acute posterior ROP ( APROP ). Postoperative effects were compared.
RESULTS:There were 26 infants (52 eyes) diagnosed as ROP in Zone Ⅰ, including 3 infants( 6 eyes) with pre -threshold ROP, 15 infants (30 eyes) with threshold ROP and 8 infants (16 eyes) with APROP. The first operation recovery rate of three groups respectively were 100% (6 /6), 60% ( 18 / 30 ) and 75% ( 12 / 16 ), which were not significantly different (P>0. 05).
CONCLUSION:Intravitreal bevacizumab for ROP in ZoneⅠ seems effective and has some advantages over conventional laser treatment, which could be first line treatment for high-risk ROP in Zone Ⅰ.

Objective To access the macular status of type 2 diabetes mellitus after first time insulin treatment,and analyse the changes of macular thickness.Design Prospective case series.Participants 34 diabetes patients(68 eyes)treated with insulin for the first time.Methords The diabetes patients were treated with intensive Humulin NPH for 3 months.Optical coherence tomography were performed in each eye before and after the treatment.Main Outcome Measures Thickness of macular foveal.Results The thickness of macular foveal was(195.07?27.75)?m before the treatment of insulin,and(198.57?27.72)?m after 3 months of insulin therapy(t= 1.9960,P=0.1569).25 eyes had macular thickening after insulin therapy.Conclution There is no obvious therapeutic effect only to control blood glucose using insulin within 3months in patients with diabetic macular edema,which needs close following-up and other treatment options in time.(Ophthalmol CHN,2008,17:56-58)

Objective To explore the feasibility,safety and efficacy of laparoscopy assisted ultrasound guided radiofrequency ablation (RFA) in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) beneath the diaphragm.Methods Twentythree consecutive patients with solitary HCC beneath the diaphragm were treated by laparoscopy assisted ultrasound guided RFA in the Chinese PLA General Hospital from January 2013 to March 2016.We observed the p erioperative complications and followedup long-term effect.Results All the 23 patients successfully underwent laparoscopy assisted ultrasound guided radiofrequency ablation.No serious complications such as massive hemorrhage,biliary fistula and severe pleural effusion,hemopneumothorax occurred in the patients during perioperative period.CT examination 2-3 days after the operation revealed that the tumor was completely covered by the ablation area.Besides,the survival condition was satisfactory during follow-up period of 9-38 months.Conclusion Laparoscopy-assisted ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation is effective and safe for HCC beneath the diaphragm.

Objective To investigate the feasibility of resection of internal wall for pancreatic mucinous cystic neolplasms (MCN).Methods Successive observation and cyst wall thickness measurement of the pathological sections of 24 cases with pancreatic MCN admitted in our hospital during 2008-2011.One patient with pancreatic tail MCN was treated by resection of internal wall.Results The cyst wall thicknesses of the 24 cases vary from 2 mm to more than 2 cm,and the thicknesses of fibrous envelop near pancreatic vary from 0.1 mm to 8.0 mm.The fibrous envelop thickness of 17 cases were more than 0.5 mm(70.8％,17/24).These cases could be treated with resection of internal wall.Pancreatic leakage occurred in 8 of the 24 patients (33.3％,8/24).The patient treated by resection of internal wall had no pancreatic leakage.Conclusion We consider that 70.8％ cases of pancreatic MCN could be treated by resection of internal wall to cure MCN and avoid the possibility of postoperative pancreatic fistula.

In lieu of large samples of cases and/or controls with hundreds of markers spreading throughout the human genome, researchers started to notice the dramatic increase of genome-wide association study (GWAS) for complex disorders, in the last 5 years. This paper highlights the statistical challenges in such huge-scale genetic studies, and introduces the analytical strategies and steps for handling GWAS data. Such issues as quality control of data, population stratification, methods available to data analysis and results presentation, replication, as well as the limitations of GWAS studies and the challenges presenting for statistics, are addressed.

BackgroundThe immunotherapy for retinoblastoma(RB) is gradually concerned recent year.To seek relative immune-associated antigen is a basis of immunotherapy.NY-ESO-1 and NY-SAR-35 are two kinds of genes of cancer testis antigen( CTA ).To understand their expressions in RB tissue can offer index for relative study.ObjectiveThis study was to investigate the expressions of two CTA NY-ESO-1 and NY-SAR-35 in RB and explore the possibility of them as potentially promising targets for antigen-specific immunotherapy of RB.Methods The samples were obtained from 15 RB eyes,12 non-tumor retinopathy eyes and 22 normal eyes with other benign eye diseases.Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) was used to detect the expressions of NY-ESO-1 mRNA and NY-SAR-35 mRNA in the samples.Genes of positive PCR results were sequenced randomly.The relevance of the expression of the two cancer-testis antigen genes with the clinical characteristics such as tumor stage,tumor size and clinical stage were analyzed.This study was approved by Ethic Committee of Guangxi Medical University.Written informed consent was obtained from each patient before operation. Results NY-ESO-1 mRNA was positively expressed in 6 RB samples and NY-SAR-35 mRNA was expressed in 9 RB samples.In the non-tumor retinopathy samples and normal eye tissues,NY-ESO-1 mRNA and NY-SAR-35 mRNA were absent.No significant relevances were found between the expressions of the NY-ESO-1 mRNA and NY-SAR-35 mRNA with clinical characteristics such as age ( P =0.426,0.822 ),gender ( P =0.180,0.464 ),pathological classification ( P =0.744,0.582 ),tumor size ( P =0.760,0.790),and clinical stage ( P =0.868,0.707 ).Conclusions NY-ESO-1 and NY-SAR-35 have high expressing frequencies in RB tissue and their expressions in RB have specificity.These results offer a clue for the identification of targets antigen of RB.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the infection of HEV in Quzhou area of Zhejiang Province.

METHODSAll sera from blood donors in the central blood bank of Quzhou from April 2006 to April 2007 were used. Anti-HEV IgG and anti-HEV IgM were measured by EIA. RT-PCR was also performed to the samples with positive anti-HEV IgM. Genotype and sequence homology were analyzed after sequencing.

RESULTSThe positive ratio of anti-HEV IgG was 40.60%, in which the male infection ratio was higher than the female significantly (43.09% VS 36.09%; chi2=22.6; P < 0.01). The infection ratio was increased with age. The positive ratio of anti-HEV IgM was 0.43%. The positive ratio of anti-HEV IgG and the titers of antibody were higher in the inferior clinical infectors with positive anti-HEV IgM than the negative ones (P < 0.05). Two samples were positive in HEV PCR among 21 samples with positive anti-HEV IgM. The toxemia ratio was 0.4% of all the donors. And the genotype of the two samples with toxemia were both HEV-IV.

CONCLUSIONThe HEV infection was correlation with age and sex significantly and the infection occurred in the adults mainly in Quzhou area. HEV toxemia was not infrequency in the blood donors.

Objective To determine the content of sulfur dioxide residues, extracts and main components; To study the effects of sulfur fumigation on the characters, extracts and index components of Pinelliae Rhizoma. Methods The contents of succinic acid, adenosine and guanosine in 22 samples of Pinelliae Rhizoma from different producing areas were detected by RP-HPLC method. The extracts of Pinelliae Rhizoma were measured by cold-maceration. Sulfur dioxide residues in Pinelliae Rhizoma were examined by acid-base titration. Results Among the 22 samples of Pinelliae Rhizoma, the ratio of sulphur smoked products of Pinelliae Rhizoma was 81.8％. Three kinds of components of succinic acid, adenosine and guanosine were well separated, baseline separation was achieved, and the average recoveries of samples were 99.1％, 100.1％ and 99.3％, respectively. Conclusion The phenomenon of sulfur fumigation is very serious in feild processed products of Pinelliae Rhizoma. To some extent, sulfur fumigation has an influence on the characters, extracts and the content of succinic acid in Pinelliae Rhizoma. This study provides references for quality standard revision of Pinelliae Rhizoma in Chinese Pharmacopoeia 2020.
