2.Effects of Naoluo Xintong Recipe on expression of HSP70 and bFGF in focal ischemia-reperfusion rats
Journal of Integrative Medicine 2004;2(4):271-3
OBJECTIVE: To investigate the possible beneficial effects of administration of Naoluo Xintong Recipe (NLXT) on the expression of HSP70 and bFGF in rats subjected to ischemia-reperfusion with qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome. METHODS: We blindly randomized 40 male Wistar rats into 5 groups which were categorized as follows: (1); sham-operated group; (2) rats subjected to transient middle cerebral artery (MCA) occlusion with qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome (control group); (3) NLXT-treated group; (4) NLXT-pretreated group; (5) Nao'an Capsule-treated group. Focal brain ischemia was induced by the intraluminal suture MCA occlusion method after qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome had been made. The rats' brains were harvested at the 24h of reperfusion after 2h of MCA occlusion. The expression of HSP70 and bFGF was measured by by immunohistochemical staining. RESULTS: Strong HSP70 immunoreactivity in neurons was observed in NLXT-treated and NLXT-pretreated groups as compared to control group, and increased bFGF immunoreactivity in neurons was observed in the ischemic hemisphere in NLXT-pretreated group in comparison with the ischemic hemisphere in the control group (P<0.01). NLXT has stronger effects on HSP70 and bFGF than Nao'an Capsule. CONCLUSION: The neuroprotective effects of Naoluo Xintong Recipe may be related to its up-regulation of HSP70 and bFGF in the rat brain after focal cerebral ischemia.
3.Clinical applications of auditory evoked potentials in ICU
Chinese Pediatric Emergency Medicine 2017;24(6):420-424
In critically ill patients, evoked potential(EP) testing is an important tool for measuring neurologic function, signal transmission, and secondary processing of sensory information in real time.EP potential measures conduction along the peripheral and central sensory pathways with longer-latency potentials representing more complex thalamocortical and intracortical processing. In critically ill patients with limited neurologic exams,EP provides a window into brain function and the potential for recovery of consciousness.Brainstem auditory EP and cortical event-related potentials are most commonly used in ICU.The primary indications for EP in critically ill patients are prognostication in anoxic-ischemic or traumatic coma, monitoring for neurologic improvement or decline, and confirmation of brain death.Historically,EP has been regarded as a negative prognostic test, that is,the absence of cortical potentials are associated with poor outcomes while the presence cortical potentials are prognostically indeterminate. In recent studies, the presence of middle-latency and long-latency potentials as well as the amplitude of cortical potentials is more specific for good outcomes.Event-related potentials, particularly mismatch negativity of complex auditory patterns,is emerging as an important positive prognostic test in patients under comatose. In infants, other than anoxic-ischemic or traumatic brain injury, brainstem auditory is also widely used in premature baby, bilirubin encephalopathy and detection of possible hearing loss.

Objective To reveal the mechanism of Yuxuan granule(YXG) in treating pharyngitis from anti-inflammatory,expectorant,and antibacterial actions. Methods Xylene-induced ear edema and cotton pellet induced granuloma mice models were adopted to observe the anti-inflammatory effects of YXG Phenol red secretion in mice test was adopted to observe the expectorant activity of YXG Five bacteria by tube dilution method was adopted to observe antimicrobial action of YXG Besides, the changes of routine indexes in blood and tumor necrosis factor (TNF),interleukin-1 (IL-1) in serum were measured in acute pharyngitis models. Results YXG has shown a dose-dependent of its anti-inflammatory action. In the test of xylene induced mice ear swelling and cotton ball induced granuloma, the swelling degree of the control group, positive control groupand YXG high (6.14g/kg),medium (3.07g/kg) and low (1.53g/kg) concentration group were (9.00± 1.50) mg,(3.50±0.10)mg,(4.25±1.08)mg,(5.54±0.97)mg,(8.05±0.08)mg and (1.22±1.50)mg,(0.50±0.10)ag,(0.45± 0.08) mg,(0.75± 0.97) mg,(0.70 ± 0.08) mg respectively.YXG also had obviously expectorant effect to the golden staphylocoecus ameus, hemolytic streptococcus, streptococcus pneumoniae, salmonella typhi and corynebacterium diphtheriae, with the minimum inhibition concentration of 55,100,68 and 35 mg/ml respectively; YXG also reduced leukocyte count [percentage of leukocyte was (9.88± 1.22) × 109/L,(7.50± 1.58) ×109/L,(6.02± 1.05) × 109/L,(8.38± 1.13) × 109/L,(8.75 ± 1.08) × 109/L in the five groups respectively],neutrophils [the value was (35.62±5.00)×109/L,(28.49±3.40)×109/L,(28.89±5.22)× 109/L,(29.34±4.83)×109/L,(33.43 ± 4.27) × 109/L in the five groups respectively],lymphocytes [the value was (70.72± 5.04) %,(67.89 ±4.37)%,(60.14±3.88)%,(65.38±4.45)%,(65.65±4.28)% in the five groups respectively],TNF in blood serum [the value was (90.25±2.29)ng/ml,(80.23 ± 0.60) ng/ml,(76.83±0.33)ng/ml,(78.00 ± 0.34) ng/ml,(80.52±1.14)ng/ml in the five groups respectively] and IL-1 [the value was (222.06±50.22)pg/ml,(149.55±50.02)pg/ml,(130.37 ± 30.61)pg/ml,(158.68 ± 40.00)pg/ml,(178.76 ± 39.26)pg/ml in the five groups respectively] in the acute pharyngitis rat. Conclusion Through the anti-inflammatory,expectorant,antimicrobial activity and reducing levels of TNF,IL-1 YXG achieves the goal of treating pharyngitis.

Chinese Circulation Journal 2016;31(5):446-448
Objective: To observe the changes of plasma levels of omentin-1 and vaspin in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Methods: Our research included in 2 groups: ACS group, the patients with conifrmed diagnosis in our hospital from 2013-05 to 2013-09,n=100 including 52 male, 48 female and Control group, the patients with simultaneous coronary angiography excluded CAD,n=88. Plasma levels of omentin-1 and vaspin were examined by ELISA and the differences were compared between 2 groups. Results: Plasma levels of omentin-1 and vaspin in ACS group were lower than Control group (t=2.718,P<0.05) and (t=2.416,P<0.05). Correlation analysis presented that in ACS group, omentin-1 level was negatively related to total cholesterol (TC) (r=-0.702,P<0.05) and C-reactive protein (CRP) (r=-0.714,P<0.05); vaspin was negatively related to TC (r=-0.655, P<0.05) and CRP (r=-0.587,P<0.05); Omentin-1 was positively related to vaspin (r=0.643,P<0.05). Multiple linear stepwise regression analysis showed that plasma levels of omentin-1 and vaspin might be affected by CRP, TC and LDL-C. Conclusion: ACS patients had decreased plasma levels of omentin-1 and vaspin; in addition, omentin-1 and vaspin might be involved in lipid metabolism.
