1.Role of Nrf2/Keap1/ARE signaling pathway in respiratory diseases
Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 2015;(11):1488-1492
Nrf2/Keap1/ARE is an important signaling pathway in maintaining the balance between peroxide and antioxidants. Once oxidative stress happened, Nrf2/Keap1/ARE would be ac-tivated to regulate the expression of downstream antioxidant pro-teins that could reduce the injury from oxidative stress and the level of oxidative stress. Recent researches show that Nrf2/Keap1/ARE signaling pathway is closely related to refractory re-spiratory diseases such as pulmonary fibrosis (PF), lung canc-er, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), suggesting that Nrf2/Keap1/ARE signaling pathway may be a potential ther-apeutic target. This review focuses on the role of Nrf2/Keap1/ARE signaling pathway in refractory respiratory diseases in order to further understand the related mechanism and provide evidence for the diagnosis and treatment of refractory respiratory diseases.
2.Antioxidant Effect of Selaginella Medicinal Plants and Its Quality Review
Herald of Medicine 2017;36(9):1010-1015
This paper aimed to introduce and review the antioxidant and material base of selaginella medicinal plants. On the basis of the systematic identification of selaginella medicinal plants,we found that the ethyl acetate extract and flavonoids could inhibit the activity of XOD,LOX or/and COX-2 to some extent.Fourteen biflavonoids, one flavonoid and five flavonoid glycosides have been isolated from three resource plants, among them five compounds were firstly reported and fifteen compounds were firstly isolated in selaginella plants.Amentoflavone (AME),robustaflavone and robustaflavone-4''-dimethylether are three common characteristic constituents of selaginella plants, which can act as marks of common active ingredients and be applied to evaluate the quality of selaginella.Further studies found that some plants had stronger anti-Coxsackie virus and anti-tumor effects, and their mechanisms were associated with inhibiting multiple oxidase and mitigating harm of free radicals due to whole function.

BACKGROUND: Malnutrition and overnutrition are the two problems during growth and development of high-school students.OBJECTIVE: To understand the situation and relevant factors of malnutrition and overnutrition of high-school students.DESIGN: Transverse investigation was designed.SETTING: Health Supervision Institute of Chongqing Health Bureau; Department of Nutrition & Food Hygiene, Chongqing University of Medical Sciences; the Eighth Middle School of ChongqingPARTICIPANTS: Totally 896 students in 15 classes were collected from one full-time middle school in Shapingba district in Chongqing by cluster sampling method from March to May 2004. The students were excluded if they suffered from hereditary metabolic disease and secondary pathological malnutrition or obesity due to trauma or other diseases. All of participants were in the known in the investigation. Of those, 826 students filled up the questionnaire in detail (the effective rate was 92.19%), in which, 414 students were male and 412 students female, aged varied from 13 to 18 years.METHODS: The students chose were in the investigation with questionnaire and the contents of it included basic physical situation, state of sickness, situation of parents, dietary behavior, nutritional knowledge, dietary habits, etc. The students filled up the questionnaire by them own and handed over on the spot. The evaluation of student nutrition state adopted the heights and body masses in recent physical examination scale, in reference to the criteria in "height and body mass of Chinese students aged from 7 to 22 years". The standard body mass was 80% of body masses of people with same height, based on which, the standard body mass was 100%, that less than the standard by 90% was taken as malnutrition and more than it by 120% was taken as obesity. Non-conditional logistic stepwise regression was used to analyze the data so as to probe into the factors of malnutrition and obesity in middle-school students.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: [1] Morbidity of malnutrition and obesity in middle-school students. [2] Factors of malnutrition and obesity in middle-school students.RESULTS: Totally 826 students entered result analysis. [1] Morbidity of malnutrition and obesity: it was 9.44% and 24.21% respectively, in which, the morbidity of malnutrition.for female was higher than male [4.84%,14.08% (x2=15.1036, P < 0.05)] and the morbidity of obesity in male was higher than female [30.09%, 18.2% (x2=10.5737, P < 0.05)]. [2] Factors of malnutrition and obesity: significant correlation was present between malnutrition and 5 factors, named sex, indulgence in or being choosy food, sleeping time, breakfast and animal internal organs (P < 0.05-0.01). Significant correlation was present between obesity and 5 factors, named sex, body mass index of father, eating velocity, midnight snack and indulgence in or being choosy food (P < 0.05-0.01).CONCLUSION: It is discovered in the investigation that the morbidity of malnutrition and obesity in middle-school students are very high and that is all closely related to sex and indulgence in or being choosy food. In order to correct malnutrition and obesity in middle-school students, it is necessary to provide correct nutritional knowledge and help them arranging diet rationally and establishing healthy life pattern.

Journal of Integrative Medicine 2014;12(5):401-8
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is commonly used in treating liver diseases worldwide, especially in China. The advantages of using TCM for treatment of liver diseases include: protecting hepatocytes, inhibiting hepatic inflammation and antifibrosis in the liver. In this article, we introduce TCM herbal preparations from the Chinese materia medica (such as Fuzheng Huayu) that are typically used for the treatment of liver diseases. Literature surrounding the mechanisms of TCM therapy for treatment of liver diseases is presented and discussed. We propose that side effects of herbal compounds are often under-appreciated, and that more care should be taken in the prescription of potentially hepatotoxic medicines. Further, to deepen the understanding of TCM mechanisms, new techniques and methodologies must be developed. Future studies will lead to the enhancement of clinical outcomes of TCM. As complementary and alternative therapies, TCMs will play an expanding role in the future of liver disease treatment.

Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics, location, treatment and prognosis of periosteal osteosarcoma. Methods The data of 1 patient with periosteal osteosarcoma was retrospectively analyzed, and the 35 cases reported in CNKI database in recent years were analyzed. Results The patient of periosteal osteosarcoma was female and 16 years old. Periosteal osteosarcoma occurred in the tibia. The patient was treated with extensional resection, and had no recurrence and metastasis 3 months after operation. Among the 35 patients reported in the literature, the age of onset ranged from 14 to 35, the female was slightly more than the male (19 cases vs. 16 cases), and the lesion site was mainly in the tibia and femur. The 35 patients underwent surgical treatment, and 4 cases had metastasis;6 cases were treated by surgery combined with chemotherapy. Conclusions Female patients with periosteal osteosarcoma were slightly more than male, and the lesion site is mainly in the tibia and femur. The chemotherapy effect is not exact, and extensional resection is the most effective treatment method. The transfer site and the characteristics are not exact.
