Objective To observe pain and ADL change in patients with osteoporotic vertebral fracture trea- ted by percutaneous kyphoplasty.Methods Percutaneous kyphoplasty were performed in 14 patients with thoracic and lumbar vertebral compression fracture resulted from osteoporosis.All patients were evaluated with regard to pain index and Barthel index before and after operation.Results All the patients'pain were significantly relieved,their score with Barthel index was markedly improved.Conclusion Percutaneous kyphoplasty is a kind of good tech- nique to treat patient with thoracic and lumbar compression fractures resulted from osteoporosis.

Objective To figure out changes of serum excitatory amino acids (EAAs) levels in patients with amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) and Alzheimer's disease (AD).Methods The levels of serum EAAs was assessed in 34 cognitively normal control subjects,30 patients with aMCI,and 32 patients with AD using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).Results ①Higher serum concentrations of glutamate((39.6?22.1) ?mol/L),alanine((282.5?71.3) ?mol/L) were found in the aMCI patients (P=0.044,P=0.007),and higher serum concentrations of glutamate ((42.2?21.8) ?mol/L),glycine ((464.2?142.6) ?moL/L) were found in the AD patients than in the control subjects (P=0.010,P=0.010).②No statistically significant difference of EAAs level between the aMCI and AD groups was found.③A close and positive correlation between the serum concentrations of glutamate, aspartate and the mini-mental status examination scores were found in AD patients:the 2 amino acid levels were higher in patients with mild dementia((42.1?21.3),(55.0?29.0) ?mol/L) than those with moderate or severe dementia ((25.4?9.2) ?mol/L,P=0.023;(34.6?11.1) ?mol/L,P=0.036). Conclusion EAAs,correlating with the severity of the condition,play a significant role in AD,while aMCI patients also have disturbance of metabolism of EAAs,indicating that it has similar pathogenesis to AD.

Objective To summarize the imaging features of ultrasound, computed tomography (CT) and gadolinium-ethoxybenzyl-diethylenetriamine pentoacetic acid (Gd-EOB-DTPA) enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of solitary extramedullary plasmacytoma (SEP) of liver, and investigate the key points of identification and diagnosis.Methods The clinical data of 1 patient with SEP of the liver who was admitted to the Southwest Hospital of the Third Military Medical University at 7 May, 2015 were retrospectively analyzed.The patient received contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) , plain and enhanced scan of CT and Gd-EOB-DTPA enhanced MRI.The patient underwent treatment after preoperative examinations.Pathological examination and immunohistochemical staining were done after operation.The patient was followed up by outpatient examination of color Doppler ultrasonography till 12 November, 2015.The location, size, shape, echo, density or signal, enhancement pattern, secondary performance were recorded by imageological examinations.Surgical treatment, results of pathological examination, immunohistochemical staining, postoperative recovery and recurrence of tumor were recorded.Results CEUS examination demonstrated a hypoechoic hepatic lesion at S7 segment of the right liver measuring 24 mm × 19 mm with clear boundary and dotted blood flow signal in the mass.In the arterial phase, the lesion was enhanced rapidly.Abdominal CT scan showed that the mass at the right liver lobe had slightly low density with clear boundary, the CT value of 34-64 HU, and liver capsule having no significant outer convex.On enhanced CT, the lesion presented a homogeneous enhancement and shape of posterior upper tributaries of right hepatic artery in the arterial phase, the lesion presented continuous enhancement which was slightly lower than that of liver parenchyma in the portal venous phase with the CT value of 77-102 HU, the lesion presented decreased enhancement with the CT value of 41-98 HU in the equilibrium phase.The maximum density projected image showed that the shape of an enlarged vascular image was found inside the lesion in the arterial phase and the lesion was adjacent to inferior vena cava and right hepatic vein which was compressed and displaced in the portal venous phase.On Gd-EOB-DTPA enhanced MRI, the right liver lobe showed a homogeneous T1-weighted and T2-weighted signal with clear boundary and without lipid component, hemorrhage or calcification.The lesion presented obvious enhancement in the arterial phase, homogeneous continuous enhancement which was slightly lower than that of liver parenchyma in the portal venous phase, decreased enhancement in the equilibrium phase.The lesion showed mild signal, adjacent to inferior vena cava and right hepatic vein which was compressed and displaced in the hepatobiliary phase.There was no obvious cirrhotic nodule in the liver.The patient received laparoscopic space-occupying lesion resection at the right liver lobe after finishing inspection.The grayish white lesion in hardness was seen, with clear boundary and capsule, adjacent to anterior wall of inferior vena cava and right hepatic vein in the operation.The results of pathological examination showed that the small tumor cells were scattered in bundle, nuclear were round or oval shape and eccentric with mitosis seen.The results of immunohistochemical staining showed that endothelium cell marker CD34, human multiple myeloma gene MUM1, vimentin, plasmacyte markers 38 and 138, expression of λ light chain protein were positive, the positive cell rate of proliferation activity marker Ki-67 was 10％.The results of blood routine test and blood biochemistry showed that the patient had no anemia, hypercalcemia, abnormal renal function or monoclonal immunoglobulin in the serum or urine.The results of postoperative bone marrow aspiration, immunoglobulin determination and whole body bone scan showed normal.Postoperative examinations confirmed the SEP of right liver.The patient recovered well and was discharged at postoperative day 9.Postoperative change at right liver lobe was detected by color Doppler ultrasonography at 1 month after operation.The patient was followed up for 6 months without tumor recurrence.Conclusion SEP of liver mainly locates at the right lobe of liver, and the imaging features include clear boundary, homogeneous echo, density or signal, adjacent capsule showing no significantly outer convex, surrounding vein demonstrating no violation and shifted by compression, enhancement pattern as fast-in and fast-out.

We performed a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to investigate the efficacy and safety of ticagrelor (TIC) vs.clopidogrel (CLO) in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).In Jun 2016,a literature search was started and all the studies were conducted from 2010 to 2015.We systematically searched the literature through the MEDLINE database,Cochrane library,and EMBASE database.Quality assessments were evaluated with Jadad quality scale.Data were extracted considering the characteristics of efficacy and safety designs.Six RCTs enrolling 26 244 participants and satisfying the inclusion criteria were finally analyzed.There was a significant decrease of all-cause mortality (MD=0.83,95％CI=0.74-0.93,P=0.001) and myocardial infarction (MI) (MD=0.78,95％CI=0.70~.88,P=0.000).There were no significant differences in stroke (MD=1.34,95％CI=0.99-1.79,P=0.06),total bleeding (MD=0.97,95％CI=0.84-1.12,P=0.66),minor or major bleeding (MD=l.06,95％CI=0.94-1.19,P=0.35) in patients undergoing PCI after treatment with TIC vs.CLO.TIC could be more significant in decreasing all-cause mortality and MI than CLO,but there were no significant differences between TIC and CLO in inhibiting stroke,major bleeding,major or minor bleeding in patients undergoing PCI.

Objective To evaluate the safety and accuracy of CT-guided cutting needle biopsy for the hepatic lesions near diaphragmatic dome.Methods A total of 25 cases with hepatic lesions near the diaphragmatic dome were undertaken CT-guided cutting needle biopsy using 16 gauge or 18 gauge core biopsy needles.Results Histological examination showed malignancy in 17 cases and benign in 8 with 2 false negative results(8%),and there were no false positive results.The specificities of malignant and benign lesions were 100% and 75%,respectively.Overall accuracy was 92%.Pneumothorax,needle tract hemorrhage,and subcapsular hepatic hemorrhage occurred in 2(8%),1(4%)and 1(4%),respectively.Conclusion CT-guided cutting needle biopsy for the hepatic lesions near diaphragmatic dome is a reliable and relatively safe diagnostic method.(J Intervent Radiol,2007,16:838-840)

Bc58 is a UV resistant wild type strain that has an ability to produce a sorrel pigment induced by L-tyrosine.The FT-IR spectra and chemical tests of its pigment are similar to that of the standard melanin(Sigma).By bioassay shows that the LC_(50) of a Bt formulation added with the melanin of Bc58 and exposed to UV for 5 h is 16.1?g/mL,which is similar to that of Bt formulation without treated with UV,however,it is almost double higher than that of Bt formulation exposed to UV without the melanin of Bc58.The result of SDS-PAGE indicates that the melanin of Bc58 can protect the insecticidal crystal proteins from degradation.It suggests that an excellent UV protective agent to the insecticidal crystal proteins of Bt formulation.
