Objective To investigate psychology state of AIDS-phobia population. Methods 50 AIDS-pho-bia patients and 50 healthy controls were enrolled and tested with SCL-90,EPQ, LES and social support scale. Results Scores of SCL-90 in AIDS-phobia patients are significantly more than those in controls. Scores of anxiety, depres-sion,compulsion,dread and somatization in AIDS-phobia patients are significantly more than those in controls. Scores of negative life event scale in AIDS-phobia patients are significantly more than those in controls. Scores of positive life event scale in AIDS-phobia patients are significandy less than those in controls. Scores of social support scale in AIDS-phobia patients are significantly less than those in controls. Conclusions Anxiety, depression, compulsion, dread and somatization are primary clinical manifestation of AiDS-phobia. Personal character, negative life event and lack of social support might be nosogenesis correlated with AIDS-phobia.

Chinese Journal of Laboratory Medicine 2012;35(7):607-611
ObjectiveTo establish a analytical system for the survival motor neuron (SMN) subtle mutation, and evaluate its application in two families with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).MethodsSMN genes in seven family members from two SMA families were analyzed at both transcript level and genomic level,by the use of the conventional PCR-RFLP,allele-specific PCR,multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (MLPA) and T subcloning and sequencing of SMNI gene.ResultsIn family A,the patient had a single SMN1 copy who was carrying nonsense mutation L228X,which was also found in his father. In family B,as the patient's sample was unavailable, the father was indeed a carrier with one normal SMN1 allele and the other SMN1 allele carrying a frameshift mutation 22_23insA.The remaining family members were SMA carriers with one SMN1 copy.ConclusionThis analytical system for SMN subtle mutation offers viable molecular basis for genetic counseling and prenatal diagnosis in SMA families.

AIM: To evaluate the clinical outcomes of management in younger patients with primary chronic angle-closure glaucoma (PCACG).METHODS: Thirty-eight patients (50 eyes) aged 40 or younger with confirmed diagnosis of PCACG in advanced or late stage who received surgical treatment in Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center from January 2000 to December 2005were retrospectively investigated. All patients underwent trabeculectomy. The mean follow-up was 23.6±7.5 months.Full ophthalmic examinations were performed. The clinical outcomes including clinical presentations, surgical results and complications were evaluated.RESULTS: The mean age of patients was 33.5±6.1 years old. There was a female preponderance (60.5%). The mean axial length was 22.4±3.5mm with 18.0% short axis of eyeball and 14% nanophthalmos. There was 60.0% fiat anterior chamber depth (<1.9mm). Ultrasonic Biomicroscopy identified that plateau iris was the most common underlying etiology (80.6%). There was a statistically significant difference in intraocular pressure (IOP) reduction postoperativelyvs preoperatively (P<0.001). Four eyes failed to control IOP and received second filtration surgery. The main postoperative complications included shallow anterior chamber (20.0%) and malignant glaucoma (12.0%).CONCLUSION: The younger PCACG patients in advanced or late stage can be effectively managed by trabeculectomy. They have more frequency of postoperative sustained shallow anterior chamber and malignant glaucoma. Careful ophthalmic examinations, delicate surgical procedures and well-managed technique of complications were suggested on younger PCACG patients.

Objective To evaluate the effects of impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) on ventricular remodeling. Methods Parameters of every subject including left ventricular mass ( LVM), left ventricular mass index (LVMI), E/A ratio, 75 g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), ambulatory blood pressure monitoring(ABPM) data including 24-hour mean systolic blood pressure(mSBP) and 24-hour mean diastolic blood pressure(mDBP) were collected. Then the relationship of IGT and myocardial remodeling related parameters were analyzed. Results The rate of diastolic dysfunction was higher in the IGT combined with hypertensive group(74% ) compared with the hypertensive group( 39% )( x2 = 6. 5, P < 0. 05 ). The rate of diastolic dysfunction was higher in the IGT group( 34% ) compared with the normal group( 10% ) (x2 = 5.2,P <0. 05). The rate of Left Ventricular Hypertrophy (LVH)in the IGT combined with hypertensive group (24%) was higher than the other three groups (Hypertension group 7%, IGT group 0, Normal group 0) (x2 =4.561,P <0.05), and there was no significance between the rest three groups (P >0.05).Stepwise multiple regression showed age and 2 Hours' Postprandial Blood Glucose were independent risk factors of E/A ratio. Conclusions These results suggested that IGT is a possible contributor to left ventricular hypertrophy and diastolic dysfunction, and is one of the histopathology of left ventricular remodeling.

Objective To compare the CT features and clinic data of patients with congenital coarctation of the aorta ( CoA) and com-plex CoA. Methods CT findings and clinical characteristics of 29 patients with CoA were retrospectively analyzed and compared. Results There were difference in clinical characteristics between isolated COA and complex COA(P<0. 05). Local COA, aortic isthmus COA, associated with patent ductus arteriosus, bicuspid aortic valve were more than those of complex COA(all P<0. 05). Grade of vascular steno-sis in patients with isolated COA was higher than ones with complex COA. Isolated COA associated with vascular variations and aorta malfor-mation were less than those of Complex COA(P<0. 001). More cardiacvascular malformation were common in patients with complex COA, collateral circulation were in in all patients with isolated COA. Conclusion There were differences of CT findings in patients with different COAs. CT findings would be helpful for early diagnosis, treatment in early stage, and choice of treatment.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the tongue manifestation features of sexually transmitted and intravenous drug use spread HIV infected population in Xinjiang.
METHODSRecruited were 990 HIV infected subjects in Xinjiang from May 2011 to March 2012, who were assigned to the intravenous drug use spread HIV infected (498 cases) and the sexually transmitted (492 cases). By using tongue figure shoot combined with analyses of experts, tongue manifestations were analyzed and compared between the sexually transmitted and the intravenous drug use spread from four aspects, i.e., the tongue color, the tongue shape, the fur color, and the fur property.
RESULTSCompared with the sexually transmitted population, red tongue, fissured tongue, yellow fur, thick fur, eroded fur, deficiency of fur fluid were more often seen, showing statistical difference (P < 0.05). Compared with the intravenous drug use spread population, pale tongue, white fur, and thin fur were more often seen, showing statistical difference (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSThe tongue manifestations of the intravenous drug use spread HIV population reflected inner exuberance of evil toxin and heat impairing qi and yin. Compared with the intravenous drug use spread population, the attack of HIV infection was more hiding in the sexually transmitted population, with milder internal injury. Their Wei-qi was not damaged and no obvious change occurred in the tongue figure.
