1.Progress in the Studies of Biological Clocks Genes
Progress in Biochemistry and Biophysics 2001;28(2):181-183
Circadian rhythms describe biological phenomena that oscillate with an 24 hour cycle. These rhythms include blood pressure, body temperature, hormone level, the number of immune cells in blood, and the sleep-wake cycle. The aim is to introduce common genes between species that are responsible for determining the circadian behavior, especially some transcription factor s that serve to regulate many circadian rhythm genes. And the common molecular mechanism of biological clocks between fly and human will be in troduced.

Chinese Mental Health Journal 1991;0(05):-
Objective: To evaluate a self-rated health measurement scale-the revised version 1.0 (SRHMS V1.0).Method:2000 subjects, including university students, patients in the department of traditional medicine, patients with dermatosis and military retired cadre, received the assessment with SRHMS V1.0. Result: The test-retest reliability of the above four groups was 0.80-0.98. The Cronbach alpha was 0.93, equal-length Spearman-Brown was 0.74, Guttaman Split-half was 0.73. The correlation between each item and its dimension was high, that between item and other dimension was low; furthermore, the correlation between each dimension and the subscale it belong to was high, that between the dimension and other subscales was low. Factor analysis produced ten main factors that were consistent with the original theoretical structure about SRHMS V1.0. The correlation between total score of SRHMS and that of SF-36 was significant (r=0.53). People of different age group, of different marriage status, with different occupations or education background, of different economic class had different results in SRHMS V1.0, while there was no difference significantly between male and female, between with different races or residencies. Conclusion: SRHMS V1.0 has good psychometric quality and can be used in Chinese population.

Microbiology 1992;0(02):-
In this paper, a colorimetric method with high sensitivity, reproducibility and low cost for determining glutamate decarboxylase (GAD) activity was developed based on Berthelot reaction. The optimum substrate system is 0.2 mol/L MacIlvaine buffer pH4.7, containing 0.1 mmol/L pyridoxal phosphate (PLP) and 10 mmol/L L-monosodium glutamate (L-MSG). The reaction mixture consisted of 200 ?L substrate solution and 1~100 ?L enzyme preparation from lactic acid bacteria and was incubated at 30℃. The enzymatic reaction was terminated by immersion in ice-water and addition of 200 ?L 0.2 mol/L sodium borate buffer, pH9.0, then 1 mL 6% phenol solution and 400 ?L sodium hypochloride were added. Color development was carried out in boiling water for 10 min then immediately put in ice-water bath for 20 min. The optical density is read at 630 nm. ?-aminobutyric acid (GABA) produced was calculated using the standard curve. Applications of the method in GAD studies were discussed.

To explore the effect of tripterygium glycosides on the level of peripheral blood cell factors of Graves ophthalmopathy (GO). In the study, 64 patients of GO in moderate-severe acute stage were selected, and randomly divided into the treatment group (32 cases) and the control group (32 cases). Both of the two groups were provided with basic treatment. The control group was added with prednisone(0. 75 mg kg-1 d-1 ), which gradually reduced (by 5-10 mg week-1 )to the minimum dose of 5 mg d-1. The treatment group was treated with 20 mg tripterygium glycosides, three times a day. One therapy course is three months. The levels of peripheral blood cells(TNF-alpha , IL-2, IL-10, IFN-gamma)of the two groups before and after the treatment and the clinical efficacy were observed. The study indicated that, before the treatment, TNF-alpha, IL-2, IFN-gamma in both groups were significantly higher than that in the health group, but with IL-10 notably lower than the healthy group. After the treatment, TNF-a, IL-2, IFN-gamma in the treatment group significantly decreased, but with IL-10 significantly increasing (P <0. 01). After the treatment, the two groups showed significant difference (P <0. 01). The total clinical efficacy in the treatment group was 88. 10% , and that in the control group was 57. 14% (P <0. 01). After the treatment, the two groups showed significant changes in the exophthalmos degree (P < 0. 01). The results showed that the level of peripheral blood cells (TNF-alpha,IL-2, IL-10, IFN-gamma)of GO patients was positively correlated with the severity of ocular disease. The combined therapy of tripterygium glycosides and methimazole show such advantages as low side effect and high clin-

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2007;0(18):-
BACKGROUND:The selective immunosuppression on transplanted organ was realized by local drug delivery system, which is one of efficient ways to avoid many kinds of side reactions induced by systemic drug delivery.By using the characteristics that adrenal gland can secret glucocorticoid, the adrenal gland or adrenal implant as the way of local drug delivery of glucocorticoid for transplanted organ is hopeful to avoid the complications induced by systemic and amount of use of glucocoticoid.OBJECTIVE:To establish a model of adrenal gland self-implantation in greater omentum, and to observe the protection of the adrenal gland implant on transplanted liver.DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:This randomized controlled animal experiment was performed in the Experimental Animal Center of Guizhou Provincial People's Hospital from May 2007 to October 2008.MATERIALS:Fifty male Sprague Dawley rats were assigned as donors, and fifty male inbred strain Wistar rats were assigned as recipients.METHODS:After feeding one week, the recipient rats were randomly divided into two groups with 25 rats in each group. In liver transplantation after adrenal gland self-implantation in greater omentum group, allogenic liver transplantation was performed after successful model establishment of adrenal gland self-implantation in greater omentum. In simple liver transplantation group, only allogenic liver transplantation was performed. No immunosuppressant was used after transplantation in both of the two groups.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:The survival time of rats was observed. The morphology of the transplanted livers and the adrenal implants was observed at different time points. The activities of serum aspartate aminotransferase(AST),as well as the concentration of serum corticosteroid and total bilirubin were detected at different time points.RESULTS:The recipient adrenal implants recovered their endocrinal function at 7 weeks after adrenal gland self-implantation in greater omentum. After liver transplantation, histological examination showed that the adrenal implants survived well. The median survival time of rats in the liver transplantation after adrenal gland self-implantation in greater omentum group was more than 30 days, which is obviously longer than that(12 days) in the simple liver transplantation group. There was no significant difference in concentration of serum corticosteroid between the two groups. At 7 days after transplantation, activities of serum AST and concentration of total bilirubin of rats in the simple liver transplantation group were significantly higher than those in the liver transplantation after adrenal gland self-implantation in greater omentum group(P ≤ 0.05).In the liver transplantation after adrenal gland self-implantation in greater omentum group, pathological changes of transplanted livers showed as grade 0 according to Williams standard. In the simple liver transplantation group,a mild rejection appeared at 3 days after transplantation, and the pathological changes turned to severe and reached grade 3 according to Williams standard at 7 days.CONCLUSION:Adrenal implant which survives and recovers its endocrinal function after self-implantation in greater omentum has protection on the transplanted liver in early stage.
