ObjectiveTo assesses the skeletal development of adolescent in Yantai area, and investigates the characteristics of the tendency of their skeletal development. MethodsTotally 1180 healthy adolescents ( 574 males and 606 females ) at 10 to 20 years of age living in Yantai area were randomly selected, and their left wrist were radiated at the posterior-anterior position. The bones at wrist were scored according to the Chinese Wrist Skeletal Development Standard CHN Method. The correlation among skeletal age, chronological age and the sex were analyzed. ResultsSkeletal age positively correlated with chronological age (male: r=0.943,females: r=0.942,totally: r=0.942). ConclusionThe skeletal development of adolescent in Yantai area has the characteristic of acceleration. So it is necessary to establish a new skeletal age standard for the skeletal development of adolescent.

Objective To explore clinical effect and safety of intermittent androgen suppression treatment of advanced prostate cancer in elderly patients.Methods 78 patients with advanced prostate cancer were enrolled,and randomly divided into the observation group and the control group (n=39 each).Patients in observation group were treated with intermittent androgen suppression treatment.Patients in control group were treated with persistent androgen suppression treatment.Results The time of therapy was much longer in observation group than in control group (P＜ 0.001).Quality of life was better in observation group than in control group (P＜0.05).The incidences of adverse reactions including anemia,fever and abnormal liver function were lower in observation group than in control group (all P＜0.05).Conclusions Intermittent androgen suppression treatment prolongs time to androgen-independent progression,improve the quality of life,reduce drug dosage and the incidence of adverse reactions in the treatment of advanced prostate cancer in the elderly.

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of Shenxiong glucose injection and lipo PGE1 injection in treating the lower extremity arteriosclerotic occlusive disease (LEAOD).Methods 80 patients with LEAOD were randomly divided into control group and treatment group. Both groups were given conventional therapy, including reducing blood pressure, blood sugar, blood lipid and anti-infection therapy.Control group was additonally given intra-femoral arterial infusion with urokinase 150000 units plus 15mL 0.9% sodium chloride and 10 mg anisodamine alternately every other day, 5 days for one course, stopping 3 days after another course.Treatment group was treated with intravenous injection Lipo PGE1 injection plus 10 mL 0.9% sodium chloride and intravenous Shenxiong glucose injection per day for 14 days.Clinical efficacy, changes in clinical symptoms, whole blood viscosity, high sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP), fibrinogen, ankle-brachial index(ABI), the inner diameter of the dorsalis pedis and the peak systolic velocity( PSV) of dorsalis pedis were compared and analyzed pre and post-treatment.Adverse drug reactions were recorded during the treatment.ResuIts The efficiency for the patients in the treatment group (90.0%) was higher than that in control groups(72.5%) (P<0.05).The symptoms of numbness and cold limbs, whole blood viscosity, ABI, hs-CRP improved more significantly in the treatment group (P<0.05).No adverse event occurred in the treatment group and 2 patients in control group had mild dry mouth.ConcIusion Shenxiong glucose injection combined with lipo PGE1 injection for the treatment of LEAOD is effective and safe and should be introduced in clinical practice.

Objective To investigate the expression of endoplasmic reticulum stress protein induced by hypoxia in different hypoxic phase, and study the significance of endoplasmic reticulum stress on the apoptosis of rats' myocardial cells in vitro. Methods The cultured myocardial cells of neonate rats were divided randomly into 0-hour group (control group) and hypoxia for 6-hour, 12-hour, 18-hour, 24-hour and 30-hour groups. Animals in hypoxia groups were treated with mixed gas of 95% N2 and 5% CO2 for different periods, and those in control group were without hypoxic treatment. Expressions of GRP78, CHOP and Caspase-12 protein were examined by Western blotting, and the apoptosis of myocardial cells was detected by flow cytometry. Results Basic expression of GRP78 was observed in control group. Up-regulation of GRP78 expression was induced by hypoxia for 6 hours. Significant increase of GRP78 expression appeared at 12-hour, and peaked at 18-hour, after hypoxia (P<0.05). Decrease of GRP78 expression was observed at 24-hour and 30-hour after hypoxia. Up-regulation of CHOP and Caspase-12 expression was detected at 12-hour after hypoxia exposure and maintained during 30-hour hypoxia exposure. Typical manifestation of myocardial cells apoptosis appeared at 12-hour after hypoxia. Compared with the control group, the apoptosis rate increased significantly at 18-hour, 24-hour and 30-hour after exposure to hypoxia (P<0.01). Conclusion Endoplasmic reticulum stress in myocardial cells play different roles in different hypoxic phase.

Objective To provide the basis for clinical diagnosis and treatments of colorectal cancer by studying the clinical characteristics and incidence tendency of colorectal cancer in recent 12 years in Kunming. Methods The data of 1628 colorectal cancer patients from 2001 to 2012 in the First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University were collected. The clinic pathological data of all patients was divided into 2001-2006 (Agroup) and 2007-2012 (B group) two consecutive time periods for statistical analysis according to its time of onset. Results The incidence of colorectal cancer in the city rose from 49.2%to 56.0%, and the incidence of colorectal cancer in rural areas decreased from 50.8%to 44%( <0.05) .The location ratio of colorectal cancer in the rectum decreased from 74.8%to 73.9%, in the left half colon ratio increased from 14.8%to 19%, while the right colon ratio decreased from 10.4% to 7.1% ( < 0.05) . The change in the three parts had statistically significant difference between two consecutive time periods. The percentage of colorectal cancer patients in Dukes A stage rose from 13.4% to 18.8%, while the percentage of patients in Dukes D stage decreased from 22.3% to 14.5% ( <0.01) . Conclusions The incidence of colorectal cancer in Kunming gradually increases.The morbidity in the city is significantly higher than that in the country. The ratio of left half colon cancer is rising, but the ratio of rectal cancer and right half colon cancer is falling. The early diagnosis rate of colorectal cancer is on the rise.

OBJECTIVEPolyethylene glycol/bone morphogenetic protein-2 (PEG/BMP-2) nanoparticles were transfected into Rabbit bone mesenchymal stem cells (rBMSCs) and the expression of BMP-2 was detected.

METHODSDissociated rBMSCs were primarily cultured in vitro and BMP-2 gene was transfected into rBMSCs by PEG/BMP-2 nanoparticals and lipofectamine, respectively. The efficiency of transfection was detected by flow cytometry and the expression of BMP-2 was detected by Western Blot and real time RT-PCR.

RESULTSPEG/BMP-2 nanoparticals were successfully synthesized and transfected into rBMSCs. Compared with the lipofectamine transfection group, PEG/BMP-2 transfection group had higher efficiency and higher BMP-2 expression.

CONCLUSIONPEG/BMP-2 nanoparticals transfected rBMSCs highly expressed BMP-2,which provided novel strategies for the treatment of bone defect.
