AIM: To investigate the effects of pretreatment of captopril on the infarct size and myocardial cell apoptosis in rabbits. METHODS: Rabbits were randomly divided into sham-operated control group (SO), acute infarct group (AI) and captopril pretreatment group (CP). The rabbits of CP group were treated with captopril (25 mg?kg -1 .d -1 ) for 1 week before harvest. The left circumflex branch of coronary (LCX) was ligated to develop acute ischemic model. The systolic and diastolic function of left ventricle(LV) was measured before and at 15, 30, 60 min after ligating LCX, and the blood viscosity and hematocrit before and at 60 min after ligating LCX were measured also. 6 hours later LCX ligation, the hearts were harvested for determining the infarction size, which was expressed as the ratio of infarct area to the total ischemic area, and evaluating apoptosis index expressed as the percentage of myocardial cells with TUNEL positive staining. RESULTS: 1.Compared with AI group, captopril pretreatment significantly reduced the infarction size (16 60%?0.94% vs 36.24%?1.94%, P

Through scale-up cultivation of Eriobotrya japonica suspension cells using WAVE bioreactor, the cell growth and ursolic acid (UA) accumulation were studied. The comparison test was carried out in the flask and the reactor with cell dry weight (DW) and UA content as evaluation indexes. The culture medium, DW and UA content were compared in 1 L and 5 L working volumes of bioreactor. The orthogonal test with main actors of inoculation amount, speed and angle of rotation was developed to find the optimal combination, in 1 L working volume of bioreactor. DW of the cell growth and the UA content in bioreactor were higher than those of the shaker by 105.5% and 27.65% respectively. In bioreactor, the dynamic changes of elements in the fluid culture, the dry weight of the cell growth and the UA content in 1 L and 5 L working volumes were similar. Inoculation of 80 g, rotational speed of 26 r · min(-1), and angle of 6 ° was the optimal combination, and the cell biomass of 19.01 g · L(-1) and the UA content of 27.750 mg · g(-1) were achieved after 100 h cultivation in 1 L working volume of bioreactor. WAVE Bioreactor is more suitable than flasks for the E. japonica cell suspension culture, and culture parameters can be achieved from 1 L to 5 L amplification.

Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of low-dose erythromycin for the treatment of feeding intolerance in preterm infants in China. Methods In this study, random clinical trials on the treatment of feeding intolerance in preterm infants with intravenous low-dose erythromycin published were searched at Chinese Journal Full-text Database,Chongqing Weipu Database and Wanfang database by using the methods of Cochrane systematic review. At the same time the information from related journals, professional data and network were hand-searched.The publishing deadline for the literatures reviewed in this study was August 2012.Statistical analysis of clinical data was performed by using RevMan 4.2 software provided by the Cochrane Collaboration. Results A total of 9 studies were included. The results showed that compared with the group of comprehensive therapy, the group of low-dose erythromycin was superior in the following aspects with significant differences(P < 0.05):the average length of hospital stay, time of parenteral nutrition, time to full feeding, the incidence rate of feeding intolerance (Z =3.44,P =0.000 6 ; Z =6.78,P <0.000 01 ; Z =3.96,P < 0.000 1 ; Z =2.51,P =0.01).Conclusion Low-dose erythromycin therapy for feeding intolerance in preterm infants is superior to the comprehensive therapy. It provides a prospective therapeutic method for feeding intolerance in preterm infants. However, large scale, multicenter and well-designed clinical trials should be adopted to confirm the conclusions.

To provide accurate information on geographic distribution of crude drug Sailonggu in the plateau, we identified zokor species (Eospalax spp.) in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau using molecular methods. Based on the mitochondrial cytochrome B (cytb) gene sequences, we then extracted haplotypes from these sequences and reconstructed phylogenetic trees for the haplotypes using both maximum likelihood (ML) and Bayesian inference (BI) methods. Based on the trees, the species of each sample were determined. Five hundred and three samples from 35 populations were sequenced and their whole cytb sequences (1140 bp) were obtained. From these sequences 150 haplotypes were detected, in which, 126 were Eospalax baileyi, 20 were E. cansus, and 4 were E. smithi of the 35 populations, 28 were E. baileyi type, 5 were E. cansus type, and the remaining 2 were mixed of E. baileyi + E. cansus (DT2) and E. baileyi + E. smithi (ZN3). The results showed that, the regions around the Qinghai lake and near the upper stream of Yellow River started at Guide could be viewed as the producing area of authentic Sailonggu, and also, the cytb gene is a powerful molecular marker to determine the species of zokors as well as for the authentication of geographic distribution of Sailonggu.

Chinese Journal of Cerebrovascular Diseases 2016;(2):82-88
Objective To investigate the safety and short-term efficacy for evaluation of the low-profile visualized intraluminal support device (LVIS stents )compression and lantern release shapes for the treatment of wide-necked intracranial aneurysms. Methods From December 2014 to October 2015,15 patients with intracranial wide-neck aneurysm (16 aneurysms)received LVIS stent treatment, whose stent shapes had shortening changes were analyzed retrospectively. Thecompression mode refers to the length of LVIS stent to be shorter for more than 5 mm than the label release value by operation. Thelantern mode refers to the widened diameter of LVIS stent at the neck of aneurysm. The metal coverage rate in the posterior communicating segment of internal carotid artery after stent compression was calculated, and its safety and efficacy were assessed immediately after procedure and at 3 months after procedure. Results (1 )Using LVIS stent-assisted treatment,16 wide-necked aneurysms were treated, including 8 posterior communicating aneurysms,6 ophthalmic aneurysms, one anterior choroidal artery aneurysm and one M2 bifurcation fusiform aneurysm. The aneurysm neck was 1. 8 to 8. 0 mm (mean 3. 9 ± 1. 7 mm). A total of 15 LVIS stents were implanted (one patient with 2 aneurysms were treated with 1 stent). All the stents were released by using compression mode, and 4 of the patients (4 stents)also used the lantern mode at the same time. (2 ) After LVIS stenting, the Raymond grade Ⅰ embolization was in 10 aneurysms (62.5%),the covered branch arteries were patent immediately after procedure. (3)No perioperative technology-related hemorrhagic and ischemic complications occurred. The success rate of stent implantation was 100%(15/15). (4)The metal coverage rate after stent compression in the internal carotid artery posterior communicating segment was 30. 3%-38. 5%(mean 35. 0 ± 2. 8%). (5)After LVIS stent implantation,15 patients were followed up by whole brain DSA for 3 to 5 months (mean 3. 2 ± 0. 5), 14 aneurysms were cured on imaging (Raymond gradeⅠ),and no aneurysm recurred. All branch arteries covered by the stents did not have vascular occlusion. There was no in-stent restenosis or parent artery occlusion. The total disability rate was 6. 7%(1/15),and no patient died. Conclusions LVIS stents can increase aneurysm neck metal coverage rate and short-term cure rate throughcompression andlantern modes, while does not affect the covered branches. Choosing the appropriate cases for thelanternmode may be beneficial to the short-term protection of the vascular branches at the aneurysm necks.
