ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of speech therapy on mental health of patients with aphasia. MethodsCRRCAE and SCL-90 were used to assess the speech and mental state in 28 aphasia patients. All aphasia patients were treated by using speech therapy and the changes before and after treatment were compared. ResultsThe scores in listening comprehension, repetition, naming, reading, reading comprehension, writing and counting were distinctly higher at post-treatment than that at pre-treatment. All SCL-90 factor's levels at post-treatment were distinctly reduced than that at preat post-treatment(P<0.01).Conclusions Speech therapy can improve the language function,as well as mitigate the mental symptoms.

Chinese Journal of Applied Physiology 2008;24(3):310-314
AIMTo increase the cognition of cerebellar functions and the knowledge of neuroimmunology, the effect of cerebellar interposed nuclei (IN), one of three deep nuclei in cerebellum, on lymphocyte function was investigated.
METHODSKainic acid (KA) was microinjected into bilateral IN for lesions of neuronal bodies in the IN. Control rats was microinjected with saline into their IN. On days 8, 16 and 32 following the IN lesions, the lymphocyte number in the peripheral blood was measured by blood corpuscle counter. Meanwhile, lymphocyte proliferation induced by concanavalin A (Con A), cytotoxicity of natural killer (NK) cells against YAC-1 cells, and anti-SRBC IgM antibody in the serum were examined respectively by methyl-thiazole-tetrazolium (MTT) assay, flow cytometry and ELISA assay.
RESULTSThe lymphocyte number in the peripheral blood was significantly reduced on days 8, 16 and 32 following the effective lesions of the bilateral IN in comparison with that of control. The Con A-induced lymphocyte proliferation, the NK cell cytotoxicity to YAC-1 cells, and the titer of anti-SRBC IgM antibody in the serum, were all significantly attenuated on days 8, 16 and 32 following the effective lesions of the bilateral IN in comparison with those of control. There were not remarkable differences between the days 8, 16 and 32 in the decreased lymphocyte number and functions induced by the lesions of the bilateral IN.
CONCLUSIONEffective lesions of the cerebellar bilateral IN of rats cause an inhibition in lymphocyte number and functions of T, B and NK cells, strongly showing that the cerebellar IN can modulate lymphocyte functions.

Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2005;25(9):633-635
OBJECTIVETo observe the synergic or antagonistic effect of needling acupoints Fengchi (GB 20) and Tianzhu (BL 10), and Jiaji C4-C6 (EX-B2) on vertebro-basilar insufficiency (VBI).
METHODSSelf-control method was used and 20 cases of VBI were respectively treated with acupuncture at Fengchi (GB 20) and Tianzhu (BL 10), Jiaji (EX-B2). Their combination and the changes of vertebro-basilar artery's (VBA) systolic velocity of blood flow was detected.
RESULTSThe VBA's systolic velocity of blood flow after acupuncture were increased in all the 3 groups (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01), with no significant difference among the 3 groups (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONAcupuncture at Fengchi (GB 20) and Tianzhu (BL 10) or Jiaji (C4-C6 ) or their combination can increase VBA's systolic velocity of blood flow, improving blood supply of vertebro-basilar artery, but they have no synergic or antagonistic effects.

8.Application of iodine metabolism analysis methods in thyroid diseases.
Acta Academiae Medicinae Sinicae 2013;35(4):369-372
The main physiological role of iodine in the body is to synthesize thyroid hormone. Both iodine deficiency and iodine excess can lead to severe thyroid diseases. While its role in thyroid diseases has increasingly been recognized, few relevant platforms and techniques for iodine detection have been available in China. This paper summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of currently iodine detection methods including direct titration, arsenic cerium catalytic spectrophotometry, chromatography with pulsed amperometry, colorimetry based on automatic biochemistry, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, so as to optimize the iodine nutrition for patients with thyroid diseases.

Objective To investigate blood gas analysis and lactic acid evaluation in aerobic forearm exercise and the significance of aerobic forearm exercise for the auxiliary diagnosis of mitochondrial myopathy and encephalopathy patients. Methods Forty-two patients with mitochondrial myopathy and encephalopathy patients, 40 healthy control, and 40 patients control were studied. They performed a protocol under aerobic exercise conditions, consisting of intermittent forearm exercise for 4 minutes at 40% of intented maximal voluntary contraction force.Blood samples were collected to monitor blood gas and plasma lactate before, during arid after exercise. Results During exercise venous PO_2(mm Hg, 1 mm Hg=0.133 kPa)decreased in mitochondrial myopathy and encephalopathy patients from 41.2?12.6 to 39.5?16.2, whereas PO_2 fell from 50.5?14.4 to 30.8?13.1 in healthy control and from 50.1?7.9 to 44.3?35.5 in patient control.Venous PO_2 decreased much more in healthy control group than the other 2 groups(F= 6.34,P

Objective To explore a method for isolation and culture of human epidermal stem cells. Methods Epidermis was obtained by digesting human foreskin with Dispase Ⅱ and Trypsin-EDTA.After suspension on the epidermal stem cell medium (ESCM), these single epidermis cells were inoculated onto human collagen Ⅳ-coated flasks and cultured at 37 ℃ in a humidified atmosphere containing 5% CO_2 for 10 min. The nonadherent cells were rinsed off 10 min after inoculation, and the adherent cells continued to be cultured after enriching and abstraction by type Ⅳ collagen. The cell growth was observed through inverted microscope, and the cell cloning efficiency and time of clone sustain were also detected. Immunocytochemistry was used to observe the expression of ?_1-integrin and keratin 19(K19). Keratinocytes were served as controls. Results It was revealed by histological observation that colonies were formed 24 hours after inoculation. The isolated and cultured cell cloning efficiency was higher and the time of clone sustain was longer than that of the control group. Positive expression of ?_1-integrin and K19 of cultured cells was detected by immunocytochemistry. Conclusion Adult epidermal stem cells could be successfully isolated and cultured by adhension with type Ⅳ collagen and culture with ESCM.
