OBJECTIVETo establish a localization ultrathin section method through which target cytopathic cells could be sectioned in situ.
METHODSLab-Tek Chamber slide system (177402) was selected as resin embedding mould. Cells infected with Human adenovirus type 5 (Ad5) or A/HN/SWL3/ 2009 (H1N1) influenza virus were embedded in situ as models. Target cytopathic cells were exposed by trimming, sectioned and observed under transmission electron microscope (TEM).
RESULTSTarget cells could be sectioned in situ and virus particles could be found easily on sections.
CONCLUSIONA localization ultrathin sectioning method was established and this technique could be applied in virus detection in cytopathic cells to improve TEM detection efficiency.

Chinese Journal of Virology 2014;30(3):292-297
Ebola virus (EBOV) and Marburg virus (MARV) belong to the family Filoviridae. Filoviruses cause severe filovirus hemorrhagic fever (FHF) in humans, with high case fatality rates, and represent potential agents for bioterrorism and biological weapons. It is necessary to keep surveillance of filoviruses, even though there is no report of their isolation and patients in China so far. To characterize MARV morphology, the Lake Victoria marburgvirus--Leiden was stained negatively and observed under a transmission electron microscope which is one of important detection methods for filoviruses in emergencies and bioterrorism. MARV showed pleomorphism, with filamentous, rod-shaped, cobra-like, spherical, and branch-shaped particles of uniform diameter but different lengths. Pleomorphism of negatively stained MARV is summarized in this article, so as to provide useful information for possible electron microscopic identification of filoviruses in China.

Objective:To investigate the application of Xingnaojing injection ( XNJI) in the patients of neurosurgery department to provide reference for the rational drug use. Methods:The retrospective investigation was applied to survey 200 hospitalization records with XNJI from a certain hospital between January 2014 and June 2015. The usage, dosage, medication purpose, course of treatment, compatibility and adverse effects of XNJI were analyzed. Results:The unlabeled use of XNJI was found in neurosurgery department, and 34. 50% of the surveyed patients were found that their diagnoses didn’t conform to the indications in the medicine specification of XNJI. Moreover, 92. 50% of the inpatients were treated with overdose and almost 90. 00% were treated with single drug dose of 40 ml. It was also found that XNJI was often combined with potassium chloride or with potassium chloride plus insulin in clinical use. Conclu-sion:There is some irrational use of XNJI in clinics, thus the use and management of traditional Chinese medicine injections should be strengthened and regulated.

Objective:To investigate the application of Xiyanping injections ( XYP) in the bone surgery department inpatients in a certain hospital to provide reference for the clinical rational medication. Methods:A retrospective investigation was adopted to randomly survey 180 hospitalized medical recorders with XYP from a certain hospital in 2013. The usage, dosage and medication purpose of XYP were analyzed. Results:The reasonable rate of usage and dosage of XYP was 97. 2%. Among the surgical patients, 82. 8% were giv-en XYP, and among them, 97. 3% was accordance with the medication purpose. Among the nonsurgical patients, 17. 2% were given XYP, and among them, 71. 0% was accordance with the medication purpose. The alone-use rate was 60. 0% and the rate of combina-tion with antibacterials was 40. 0%. The longest treatment course was 20d, the shortest one was 1 d, and the mean value was (7. 7 ± 5. 3) d. Conclusion:Irrational use of XYP exists in clinics, and the use should be strengthened and regulated.

Chinese Medical Ethics 1994;0(05):-
Bioethics, one of the focus subjects in 21 century, attracts the attention in the worldwide.Originated from western developed countries,it has been branded with distinct western civilization, which is disadvantageous to the development of the subject. Some suggestions are put forward as following: 1.Communication between the East and the West should be promoted in order to form a solid multi-cultural base for bioethics. For instance, in America ethics bears the imprint of religious conventionality, while in China politics is infiltrated into traditional ethical ideas. Both of them are not perfect. So they cannot form the base of bioethics. 2.Research on the "base line" of the bioethics should be emphasized in order to provide freer academic atmosphere. Transplanting the western bioethical ideas to the developing countries will never work. As for the bioethical"base line",different countries should establish feasible ethical codes according to their own actual situations. 3.Scientists should be encouraged to adopt various technical ways to explore the problems in the field of bioethics.Such methods as tissue-engineering,antologous stem-cell replanting and cell diffrenttation inducing may bring about earlier breakthrough than fetus stem-cell.Equal attention, encouragement and support should be given to bioethics.

Chinese Journal of General Practitioners 2014;13(9):742-744
Objective To evaluate the incidence of autoimmune thyroid disease (AITD) in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and examine the correlation between AITD and SLE activity. Methods The study group included 220 SLE patients with the screening of thyroid function (FT3,FT4,TSH) and antithyroid autoantibodies (TgAb,TPOAb) were hospitalized into Affiliated Hospital,Jining Medical College between July 2009 and October 2013.The control group included 160 healthy subjects. We compared the prevalence of AITD between SLE patients and normal controls and also the positive rate of anti-thyroid autoantibodies was observed. We also compared the positive rate of anti-thyroid autoantibodies between AITD in SLE and simple SLE group and also analyzed the correlation between two groups of patients and SLE activity (evaluated by the titer of anti-dsDNA,C3,C4,CH50,SLEDAI score). Results Among them,45 patients suffered from AITD (20.5%).There were hyperthyroidism (n =6,13.3%) and hypothyroidism (including subclinical hypothyroidism) (n =26,57.8%),Hashimoto' s thyroiditis (n =13,28.9%).And 74 SLE cases were positive for anti-thyroid autoantibodies. The prevalence of AITD and the positive rate of anti-thyroid autoantibodies in SLE patients (20.5%,33.6%) were higher than that in normal controls (3.13%,7.50%)(P < 0.05).The positive rate of anti-thyroid autoantibodies of SLE with AITD patients (62.2%) was higher than that in simple SLE (21.5%).No significant differences existed in anti-dsDNA titre,C3,C4,CH50 and SLEDAI score between two groups (P > 0.05).Conclusions The SLE patients have a great prevalence of AITD and a positive rate of anti-thyroid autoantibodies. Those with anti-thyroid autoantibodies have a higher incidence of AITD and it has nothing to do with SLE activity. It is essential to monitor thyroid function and thyroid autoantibodies during the follow-ups.
