Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2006;0(06):-
Objective To compare the graft function of 2 methods of kidney harvesting, the modified method of combined liver and kidney procurement and rapid en bloc kidney procurement. Methods The clinical data of 220 cadaveric renal transplantation recipients were collected(12 months follow-up),174 cases from en bloc kidney procurement and 46 from combined liver and kidney procurement. The average harvesting time, the incidence of renal vein injury,1 year kidney survival and incidence of acute rejection were compared between the two methods. Results In average harvesting time and incidence of renal vein injury, the en bloc kidney procurement were better than the method of combined liver and kidney procurement. However, the method of combined liver and kidney procurement was better than the en bloc kidney procurement in 1 year kidney survival,1 year incidence of acute rejection and average warm ischemia time. There was no difference in 1 year survival of patients and 24 h,1 week and 1 year graft function after transplantation. Conclusion Although the method of combined liver and kidney procurement is better than the en bloc kidney procurement in 1 year kidney survival and 1 year incidence of acute rejection, there is no difference between the 2 methods in 1 year survival of patients and graft function after transplantation.

Microbiology 1992;0(05):-
In order to compare the characteristics of ethano l production, a serie s respiratory deficient mutants (rho -) of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and the ir wil d parent strain (rho +) were assayed for ethanol yield, ethanol fermentation ki netics, ethanol tolerance, and activities of ethanol-dehydrogenase. The data i nd icated that: Though the average amount of ethanol produced by mutants rho - a nd by wild rho + strains were similar, some mutants produced a little more amount of ethanol than wild type. The kinetics curve of ethanol fermentation suggested t h at rho - mutants had a little higher ethanol fermenting speeds than wild type . Th e activity of ethanol-dehydrogenase per unit weight of protein of rho - mutan ts c ells were higher than that of wild strain rho +; the activity of ethanol-dehyd rogenase per unit volume of fermentation medium of rho + were higher than that rho - mutants, mainly due to the higher biomass of rho + were higher than that of rho - mutan ts. Some rho - mutants could tolerate higher ethanol concentration than wild rh o + stra in, but some not. If higher ethanol tolerance and higher ethanol yield rho - mu tants were used in fermenting process, higher ethanol yield would be expected, but some problems such as that rho - mutants grew slowly should be considered.

A summary will be made in this article concerning foreign seniors’ probation of Cardiology. These points as follows are vital to the successful teaching: making sufficient preparations before practice; analyzing the emphasis and difficulties, encouraging students to become the subject of class by making inquiry, doing physical examination by themselves and discussing the cases, paying great attention to the education of medical morality nurturance and correcting the students’ case records seriously.

ObjectiveTo study the effect of early rehabilitation on disability of motion and cognition.Methods107 patients were randomly divided into two groups, rehabilitation group (51 cases) and control group (56 cases).Patients in rehabilitation group were given regular early rehabilitation, while all patients in both groups were given usual clinical treatment. The Barthel Index (BI), Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA), Mini-mental Status Examination (MMSE) were used to evaluate these two groups before and 3 months after treatment. ResultsAfter treatment, the scores of BI, FMA and MMSE were improved significantly(P<0.05) in rehabilitation group compared with that before treatment, so did that of BI, FMA in control group(P<0.05).The scores of BI、FMMS、MMSE in rehabilitation group improved significantly compared with that in control group(P<0.05).ConclusionEarly rehabilitation may obviously improve the motive and cognitive function and increase the quality of living of hemiplegia after stroke.

Objective To determine clinical characteristics and the effects of drug-eluting stents on the occurrence of major adverse cardiac events during percuteneous coronary artery interventional(PCI)and long- term outcomes in patients with chronic renal insufficiency(CRI).Methods Nine hundreds and seventy three patients with angiographically-documented coronary artery disease(lumen inner diameter narrowing>50%), included 516 patients complicated with experienced renal impairment(CRI group)and 457 with normal renal function(control group).Baseline clinical data and coronary angiographic features were recorded. Results Comparing with control group, patients in CRI group were older with higher incidence of hypertension or diabetes and simultaneously complicated by reduced left ventricular ejection fraction, and more complex coronary lesions(type C).During follow-up(mean 17 months),the mortality was significantly higher in CRI than in control group(6.2% vs 3.3%,P<0.05),but the former with CRI was significantly lower by using drug-eluting stents in comparing with bare-metal stents(4.1% vs 8.5%,P<0.05).Conclusion Patients with CRI often complicated with severe coronary artery disease, the mortality after PCI would be significantly reduced by using drug-eluting stents.

Objective To learn the existing state of Keshan disease and its trend in Baoji City, and to provide a scientific basis for control of the disease. Methods Feng,Qianyang,Linyou and Long Counties, the Keshan disease affected areas were selected to carry out the case study, and Keshan cases were searched from all registered cases of myocardial patients of the past three years at county-level medical institutions and hospitals of townships(towns).Thirteen villages affected by Keshan disease in Qianyang,Fengxiang,Feng,Linyou and Long Counties were selected as monitoring points to carry out a intensified monitoring. All subjects were surveyed by comprehensive clinical physical examination and 12-lead ECG tracings, and they were diagnosed according to the Keshan disease diagnostic criteria.Ten households were selected randomly in each monitoring point(village),and self-produced wheat samples and adult subject's occipital hair samples were collected for detecting selenium levels. Results Seven hundred and forty-six cardiac cases which containing 17 cases of chronic Keshan disease were discovered in 32 medical institutions, and there were no acute and subacute type of Keshan disease patients.Five thousand seven hundred and twenty-three subjects were examined in the 13 monitoring sites, and 65 cases of Keshan disease were diagnosed which including 17 cases of slow and 48 cases of potential Keshan disease, and no acute or subacute case was found. The total detection rate was 1.14%,and the detection rate ranged from 0 to 2.86%.Hair selenium mean was 0.420 mg/kg; wheat selenium mean was 0.079 mg/kg.Conclusions The Keshan disease detection rate of Baoji City is at a low level. The selenium level of local residents has reached the level of non-endemic area.Constant detection of patient with Keshan disease means various control measures should be reinforced. The comprehensive monitoring program, such as monitoring people's in vivo and in vitro selenium level and others, should be established as soon as possible.

Objective To investigate the injury characteristics and prognostic risk factors of patients with craniocerebral injury so as to provide some suggestions for the improvement of medical prevention, intervention and treatment measures. Methods Trauma database system was applied to collect the medical records of 661 patients with traumatic brain injury admitted to the Department of Neurosurgery of 105th Hospital of Hefei in 2009.Their general conditions, injury characteristics and outcomes were analyzed and the risk factors affecting their outcomes were investigated by Logistic regression analysis. Results Of the patients with craniocerebral injury, the males accounted for 70% (463/661).The patients at 45 years old or so had the highest incidence of craniocerebral injury.Patient number in the second half of one year was 1.65 times more than that in the first half of one year (412/249 ).Most patients were injured from traffic accidents (87.7%,580/661 ) and 512 patients (77.5%) suffered from multiple injuries.ISS,injury causes, age and injury incidence quarters showed close correlation with the final outcome. Conclusions The patients with craniocerebral injury demonstrates distinctive characteristics in aspects of gender, age, incidence time, injury causes, and multiple injuries, but the ultimate outcomes are related to the injury severity, injury causes, age and other factors.
