Objective To compare the sensitivity of HE,immunohistochemistry (IHC) and RT-PCR in detection of breast cancer metastases in axillary lymph nodes.Methods Twenty female patients with newly diagnosed and clinically node-negative breast cancers underwent modified radical mastectomy, including a complete axillary lymph node dissection. The ages of the patients ranged from 31 years to 65 years, and the diagnosis of breast cancer was approved by pathological finding. Two hundred and thirty-nine axillary lymph nodes were found in these 20 patients. Metastases in axillary lymph nodes were explored by HE, cytokeratin 19 IHC and RT-PCR for cytokeratin 19 respectively. Results Seven(2.9%) lymph nodes were found to have metastatic cancers by HE in 3 patients,all nodes were found in level Ⅰ. Metastatic cancers were found in 13 (5.4%) nodes by IHC in 7 patients,11 nodes in level Ⅰ and 2 nodes in level Ⅱ; and 52(21.8%) nodes were found to contain tumor cells by RT-PCR in 14 patients,30 nodes in level Ⅰ and 22 nodes in level Ⅱ. All of 7 histologically(HE) positive nodes were found to contain tumor cells by IHC and RT-PCR. Coptis chinensis is widely used as Chinese medicine herbs and serious soil problems occur after continual cultivation of this medicinal plant. In the preset experiment, fibrous root extract of C. chinensis (REC) was added into soil to study the effect of REC on microbes and enzyme activity in soil. The results showed that both bacteria and actinomycetes decreased by about 2 times in contrast to fungi, which increased by about 3 folds. Phosphorus bacteria, potassium bacteria, azotobacter, ammonia bacteria, and nitrifying bacteria were also reduced significantly by REC, suggesting the inhibition of nitrogen biofixation and supply, mobilization of phosphorus and potassium, ad plant growth promotion as REC added into soil. There were multiple influences of REC on soil enzyme activities. Invertase activity was stimulated, while urease was inhibited and dehydrogenase unchanged by REC, indicating the interference of biochemical reactions in soil. In addition, type and total content of phosphorus lipid fatty acids (PLFAs) , the signature of microbes, decreased while the ratio of bacterium to fungus PLFAs increased as REC increased in soil, which suggested that fungi increased relatively with bacteria decreased thereby leading to easy occurrence of crop fungus diseases following cultivation of C. chinensis. The decrease in diversity and evenness indexes of microbial community in soil by REC indicated soil ecosystem deterioration and reduction of microbial groups and densities in soil. Therefore, allelopathic chemicals released from the roots of C. chinensis could change microbial community structure and resulted in serious soil problems by continual cropping of this medicinal plant.

OBJECTIVETo study the clinicopathological characteristics of papillary cystadenoma of the epididymis.

METHODSUsing routine pathology and immunohistochemistry, we observed the surgically obtained samples from 2 cases of papillary cystadenoma of the epididymis, analyzed their pathological features and clinical presentations, and reviewed the related literature.

RESULTSThe 2 patients were both adult males. The tumors typically manifested as painless swelling in the epididymis, with occasionally dull pain and tenesmus in 1 of the cases. Pathologically, the lesions exhibited three morphological features, i. e., dilated ducts and small cysts surrounded by fibrous connective tissue, adenoid papillary hyperplasia into the cysts embraced by fibrovascular stroma, and acidophil substance present in the cysts. Immunohistochemistry showed that the tumors were strongly positive for CK8/18, CK7, and EMA, but negative for CK20, CEA, MC, Calretenin, P53, P63, SMA, VHL, and CD10, with the positive rate of Ki-67 <1%. Follow-up visits revealed good prognosis in both cases.

CONCLUSIONPapillary cystadenoma of the epididymis is a rare benign tumor in the male urogenital system, which may be accompanied by the VHL syndrome. Surgery is the first choice for its treatment.

AIM: To investigate the safety and effect of EX-PRESS glaucoma drainage device on open-angle glaucoma.
METHODS: A retrospective review of 40 patients ( 47 eyes ) whose eyes were diagnosed as open angle glaucoma through the best - corrected visual acuity ( BCVA ) , intraocular pressure ( IOP ) , gonioscope, examination of the ocular fundus, and visual fields et al. Fourty patients 6-73y old ( mean 39. 90±16. 50y old) with the BCVA from 0. 01 to 0. 6 and the IOP from 18mmHg to 65mmHg were treated with EX-PRESS glaucoma drainage device after achieving not well IOP over three drugs. Follow - up of these patients 1d, 3d and 1wk after treatment, IOP, slit lamp examination were retrospectively observed. The changes of the BCVA, IOP were used to evaluate the safety and effect before and after treatmeat.
RESULTS: The mean BCVA was 0. 26 ± 0. 29 pre -operatively, while it was 0. 24±0. 22 after treatment one week. The mean BCVA decreased slightly, but there was no statistic difference between pre-treatment and post-treatment (t=1. 56,P=0. 13). The mean IOP was (36. 62 ±14.01)mmHg pre-operatively, (10.04±5.77)mmHg after treatment one day , ( 9. 59±4. 93 ) mmHg after treatment three days, (9. 47±3. 06)mmHg after treatment one week. The IOP was decreased significantly in post-treatment after one day, three days, one week compared with pre-treatment (F=157. 20, P<0. 05). Except for 5 eyes of the IOP below 5mmHg, there was no ocular or systemic adverse events observed in all patients.
CONCLUSION:EX-PRESS glaucoma drainage device is an effective and safe treatment for the patients with open-angle glaucoma. The risk and complication are low intraoperatively and postoperatively.

Objective:To explore the association between dopamine-β-hydroxylase (DβH), norepinephrine transporter (NET) gene polymorphisms and panic disorder(PD).Methods:The structured clinical interview for the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders fourth edition (DSM-Ⅳ) axis Ⅰ disorders was administered by trained clinical psychiatrist, 139 patients with PD(PD group) and 196 healthy controls(control group) were enrolled in the study.Single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP) genotyping was performed using an improved multiplex ligation detection reaction technique.SPSS 16.0 and PLINK softwares were used to compare the allele frequency and genotype distribution.Results:(1)Compared with control group, PD group carried more G allele(76.3% vs 68.4%) and fewer A allele(23.7% vs 31.6%) in NET rs5569, and the difference was significant(χ 2=4.986, OR=0.67, 95% CI: 0.47-0.95, P<0.05). However, the correlation was no longer significant after adjusting for Bonferroni’s multiple testing( P>0.05). (2)The additive model of NET rs5569 showed a association with PD ( OR=0.68, 95% CI: 0.48-0.96, P<0.05). And the recessive model of DβH rs1611114 showed a association with PD( OR=0.42, 95% CI: 0.18-0.96, P<0.05). However, these correlations were no longer significant after adjusting for Bonferroni's multiple testing( P>0.05). (3)No matter allele or genotype, there were no significant differences in DβH (rs129882, rs1611114, rs1611115) and NET (rs2242446, rs28386840) gene polymorphisms between panic disorder group and control group(all P>0.05). Conclusion:The present study indicates that there is no significant association of DβH and NET gene polymorphisms with PD.

Objective The purpose of this study is to determine whether the quantitative parameters of salivary gland scintigraphy are useful in the diagnosis of Sjgren's syndrome(SS).Method Forty patients with SS and 29 control subjects underwent salivary gland scintigraphy.Two indices,uptake ratio and maximum se- cretion were mearsured.The optimal cut-points of both indices were derived from receiver operative character- istic curve(ROC).The diagnostic value of the indices was assessed by the area under ROC curve(AUC~(ROC)). Results The optimal cut-point of uptake ratio was 5.5～5.7.The optimal cut-point of maximum secretion was 0.20.The sensitivities of both indices were 86.2%～89.7%.The specificity of uptake ratio was 63.4%～65.9%. The specificity of maximum secretion was 82.9%～85.4%.The AUC\+\{RoC\} of uptake ratio was 0.780/0,776.The AUC\+\{ROC\} of maximum secretion was 0.905/0,899.Conclusion The quantitative parameters of salivary gland scintigraphy may be useful in the diagnosis of Sj(?)gren syndrome.

Aim To establish a model of the vascular endothelial cell (VEC) injury in SDrats.Methods SD rats were randomly divided into the control and the modelgroups.
