Tibetan medicineLiu-Wei Mu-Xiang(LWMX) pill, a traditional compound medicine, has special therapeutic effects in the treatment of gastrointestinal anabrosis, especially chronic gastric ulcer. It has been widely applied in the clinics in Tibetan region. Nevertheless, the current standards for quality control are insufficient and incomplete, which makes it difficult to ensure its quality. This review focused on two closely related perspectives, which were the effective material basis and quality control, to summarize and review the recent advancement in relevant studies. This review also pointed out that the burning questions for Tibetan medicine standards were the origin confusion and“different medicines with the same name”. It offered meaningful suggestions for the consideration to improve its quality standards.

Objective To analyze the features of CT images of secondary pulmonary lymphoma. Methods The dats of totally 20 patients with secondary pulmonary lymphoma which were proven through lung puncture pathology or clinical treatment were retrospectively analyzed. There were 19 non-Hodgkin lymphoma cases and 1 Hodgkin lymphoma case. All cases received thorax CT scanning, and 13 of them had enhanced CT scanning. Results There were many patterns in our CT findings for secondary pulmonary lymphoma, mixed pattern in 9 cases, mass (nodule) in 4 cases, pneumonic-alveolar in 3 cases, bronchovascular-lymphatic in 3 cases, and miliary in 1 case. There were 13 cases accompanying with mediastinal lymphadenovarix, 5 cases with pleura invasion, 11 cases with pleural effusion, and 2 cases with pericardium involvement. Mild enrichment was found in 7 cases and obviously enrichment was seen in 1 case. Conclusion Diversity is the characteristic feature of secondary pulmonary lymphoma. Combined with other thorax findings, CT scaning can make a definite diagnosis.

OBJECTIVETo observe the therapeutic effect of needle-pricking (NP) for treatment of anejaculation (AE), and its influences on sex hormone levels.
METHODSOne hundred and twenty-two AE patients were randomized into the treated group (62 patients) treated with NP applied mainly on bilateral points of sacral plexus and para-vertebra L1, every 5 days; and the control group (60 patients) treated orally with L-dopa and ephedrine 1 h before sexual intercourse. The therapeutic course for both was 45 days. Changes of clinical conditions and blood sex hormones levels were observed.
RESULTSThe total effective rate was 82.3% (51/62) in the treated group, which was significantly higher than that in the control group, 58.3% (35/60, P < 0.05); levels of luteinizing hormone (LH), follicular stimulating hormone (FSH) and estradiol (E2) were improved significantly in the treated group after treatment (P < 0.01), but in the control group no significant change of FSH was shown, and the improvement of LH and FSH was inferior to that in the treated group (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONNP could improve the clinical symptoms and adjust the blood levels of sex hormone in patients with AE, showing an effect better than L-dopa plus ephedrine in increasing LH and FSH levels.

Objective To characterize pancreatic perfusion in swines with experimental chronic pancreatitis(CP)by dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI and to correlate it with the severity of CP.Methods Twenty-two swines were randomly selected and made CP by ligation of main pancreatic duct.Six healthy swines served as control.MR perfusion study with dynamic contrast-enhanced MRl was carried out on the swines under anesthesia. The animals were euthanized after MR perfusion exam. The swines were divided into 4 groups according to the histological results of pancreas:normal group, group of CP of grade 1,group of CP of grade 2,and group of CP of grade 3.The maximum perfusion slope rate, the time-to-peak value and the maximum enhancement rate was compared between the groups using variance analysis, and the relationship between each perfusion parameters and severity of CP was made by correlative analysis. Results Twenty-one swines underwent MR perfusion study, including 7 swines in normal group,7 in group of grade 1 CP,3 in group of grade 2 CP,and 4 in group of grade 3 CP.On signal intensity time curve(SI-T)derived from MR perfusion weighted imaging, the m~imum slope rate was(10.88±1.20)%,(10.59±1.02)%,(6.67±1.31)%,and(5.48±1.97)%for normal swines, swines with grade 1 CP,swines with grade 2 CP and swines with grade 3 CP,respectively(F=20.51,P<0.05).The time-to-peak value was(13.82±3.09)s,(12.31±5.52)s,(20.55±3.79)s and(37.26±14.56)s respectively(F=10.68,P<0.05).The maximal signal enhancement rate was(62.95±20.20)%,(60.44±20.00)%,(46.33±22.70)%,and(67.65±32.66)%,respectively(F=0.53,P>0.05).The highest slope value(r=-0.72,P<0.05)and the time-to-peak(r=0.54,P<0.05)of the SI-T curve were correlated to the severity of CP,respectively. However there was no linear correlation between the maximal signal enhancement rate and the severity of CP.Conclusion MR perfasion weighted imaging has a potential to diagnose and to grade experimental chronic pancreatitis.

To improve ethanol production in Saccharomyces cerevisiae,an integration plasmid pUPGKAT with PGK promoter(phosphoglycerate kinase promoter),adh1 gene(the coding sequences of alcohol dehydrogenaseⅠ) and CYC1 terminator(Cytochrome c transcription terminator) was constructed.Firstly,a fusion fragment composed of PGK promoter and adh1 gene was generated by over lap extension PCR and ligated into pUG6 resulting in plasmid pUPGKA.Subsequently,CYC1 termi nator was amplified from pSH65 by PCR and ligated to the SpeⅠand SacⅡrestriction site of pUPGKA.To integrate PGK-adh1-CYC1 into S.cerevisiae genome,pUPGKAT was digested by TthⅢⅠand the lin-earized plasmid was used to transform S.cerevisiae YS2-△adh2(adh2 disrupted strain) by lithium acetate method. The yeast mutant YS2-△adh2-adh1 which had the adh1 gene placed under the PGK promoter and harbored the adh2 deletion was constructed.Anaerobic fermentation showed overexpression of adh1 by PGK promoter resulted in a 8.84% higher ethanol production compared to YS2-△adh2.

Microbiology 1992;0(03):-
A cellulase high-yield strain was identified and named as Trichoderma longibrachiatum SSL by ITS sequence identification. The endoglucanase1 gene (eg1) encoding endo-l,4-?-D-glucanase I was ampli-fied by RT-PCR method, which including 1386 bp and encoding 461 amino acid. Sequence analysis showed that: This gene has a more 90% homology with the T. longibrachiatum eg1 gene. The eg1 gene encoding the mature peptide was inserted into the Pichia pastoris expression vector pPIC9K, which resulted in construc-tion of the recombinant expression plasmid, pPIC9k-eg1. The pPIC9k-eg1 was then introduced into the host Pichia pastoris GS115. After the induction of methanol, extracellular recombinant endoglucanase I from the supernatant of the recombinant Pichia pastoris strain reached 73 U/mL. A clear strengthening of the protein bands, whose molecular weight is about 58 kD, appeared in the SDS-PAGE.
