A kinetics model was developed for predicting and simulating immobilized cellulase performance, which follows Michaelis-Menten kinetics with competitive product inhibition. Taking into account the effects of competitive product inhibition, inner diffusional limitation, substrate concentration and carrier size, the substrate distribution and the product distribution in carriers were investigated, and the effectiveness factors were also calculated over a wide range of parameters. The effects of competitive product inhibition are shown to increase the substrate concentration in the carrier, and, additionally, to increase the effectiveness factors slightly. With the increase of inner diffusion coefficient, both the effectiveness factors and the substrate concentration in the carrier increase. As the carrier size increases, on the other hand, these values decrease. The effectiveness factors and the substrate concentration in the carrier are found to increase when substrate concentration in the reaction system increases.

ObjectiveTo investigate the imaging characteristic of DW1,tumor cell apoptosis and proliferation of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) xenograft transfected hNIS gene after 131Ⅰ treatment.MethodsThe NPC xenograft models were established with CNE-2-hNIS cells(experimental group) and CNE-2 cells(control group) respectively. After i.p.injections 131Ⅰ in the experimental group and control group, the changes of xenograft tumor volume and ADC value were observed in 3,6,12,18,24 days by MR scan. The correlations of changes of ADC with pathological TUNEL,Caspase-3 immunohistochemistry of apoptosis, and Ki-67 proliferation detection were further investigated.Independent samples t-test were compared between the two groups and Pearson linear correlation analysis was used.ResultsThe tumor volume of the experimental group was significantly reduced compared with that of the control group after 131 Ⅰ treatment (t values:8.27-19.46,P <0.05 ).DW-MRI showed that in the 3th day after 131Ⅰ treatment,ADC values increased in the experimental group, and ADC values reached the peak in the 6th and 12th day after 131Ⅰ treatment, then ADC values were decreased. ADC values after treatment was positively correlated with apoptotic index ( r =0.72,P < 0.05 ) and caspase-3 positive rate ( r =0.65,P < 0.05) and there was a negative correlation with Ki-67 proliferation index ( r =- 0.71,P < 0.05 ).ConclusionADC values can reflect growth inhibition of NPC xenograft transfected hNIS gene after 131 I treatment. It is possible that DWMRI techniques can be used in early non-invasively monitor the therapy effect of 131Ⅰ treatment of NPC xenografts transfected hNIS gene.

Journal of Southern Medical University 2008;28(6):959-962
In this paper, a restorable watermarking algorithm is proposed for medical image content authentication. Important DWT coefficients are chosen to be coded with the SPIHT algorithm for generating watermarking. The improved security watermark scrambled by Arnold transformation was then embedded into the lower bits of the image data. Finally, the chain structure was used to detect the watermarking and identify the altered positions. The altered data in an image was restored by SPIHT decoding. The experimental results demonstrated that the watermarked image not only possessed good perceptual transparence but also allowed location and restoration of the tampered content.

Objective To investigate the effect of glutamine (Gln) on the content of reduced glutathione hormone (GSH) and aminoglutaminic acid (Glu) of spinal cord following ischemia-reperfusion injury. Methods Totally 40 healthy adult male rabbits were randomly divided into five groups: sham-operation group (S group), ischemia-reperfusion injury group (I/R group), low-dose glutamine group (L Gln group), median-dose glutamine group (M Gln group) and high-dose glutamine group (H Gln group). After glutamine preconditioning, the model of spinal cord ischemia-reporfasion injury was established according to Zivin's method. The general status of animals was observed and the changes of Jacobs scoring were recorded in each group. Malondialdehydes (MDA), GSH, Glu and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity in lumbar spinal cord tissues were determined using chemical colorimetry. The neuron number and deviation rate in spinal cord anterior horn were observed histopathologically. Results There was no significant difference between L Gin group and I/R group in behavior scoring, SOD activity, content of MDA and Glu, neuron number and deviation rate of spinal cord (P>0.05); however, there was a significant difference in GSH content of spinal cord (P<0.05). M Gln group and I/R group differed significantly (P<0.05) in behavior scoring, SOD activity, content of MDA, Glu, GSH, neuron number and deviation rate of spinal cord. Between H Gln group and M Gln group, there was no significant difference in behavior scoring, content of MDA and Glu, SOD activity, neuron number and aberration rate in spinal cord (P>0.05), whereas there was a significant difference in SOD activity and Giu content (P<0.05). Conclusion Pretreatment with medium-dose glutamine has a protective effect on spinal cord ischemia-reporfasion injury in rabbits, which may be related to the maintenance of GSH content, increase of SOD activity and reduction of MDA.
