Objective To evaluate the relationship between carotid artery plagues and the clinical risk factors in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 by observing the ultrasonic characteristics of carotid atherosclerosis plagues. Methods The ultrasound results of carotid arteries in 665 patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 from January 2009 to December 2011 in Beijing Amery General Hospital were retrospectively analyzed. The location and quantity of carotid atherosclerotic plaques were observed .The relationship between the occurrence and risk factors of diabetes such as hypertension ,family history of diabetes and age were analyzed.Single factor and multi-factor analysis were applied for the related risk factors .Results The ultrasonography showed 405 cases of carotid artery plaques. Most carotid artery plaques were located in the posterior wall of carotid sinus and were hyperechoic ,hypoechoic or isoechoic. The single factor analysis showed hypertension, family history of diabetes and age are risk factors of carotid atherosclerosis (χ2 =42.322,9.682 and 140.658,all P<0.01).Multi-factor logistic regression analysis showed age was an independent risk factor of carotid atherosclerosis in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2.The risk factors scores of patients who were less than 45 years,45-65 years and over 65 years of age were (3.50 ±1.16)scores,(3.46 ±0. 92)scores and (3.21 ±0.88)scores,and the difference was statistically significant (F=5.781,P<0.001). There were significant differences between risk factors scores of different age groups ( t =2.084,2.002, 3.786,3.474,2.877 and 2.504,all P<0.05).In patients more than 65 years of age,the risk of atherosclerosis plaques is 28.732 times higher than that of patients less than 45 years of age. After controlling the age factor, the possibility of atherosclerosis plaque increased 1.201 times for each additional one point of score. Conclusions Most carotid artery plaques in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 are located in the posterior wall of carotid sinus and are hyperechoic ,hypoechoic or isoechoic.Age is an independent risk factor for the formation of carotid plaque.Patients more than 45 years of age should undergo early intervention to avoid the occurrence of major vascular complications .

Objective To investigate the effect of muscle fatigue on linear and nonlinear dynamics of sEMG from biceps brachii during maximal voluntary isometric contractions.Method Ten young volunteers subjects performed non-fatiguing isometric contractions with four load levels and fatiguing maximal voluntary isometric contractions.Linear and nonlinear analysis were used to examine the sEMG signals and the changes of sEMG signals when MVC decreased to levels of 80% MVC,70% MVC,60%MVC and 50%MVC compared with the signals of sEMG during non-fatiguing contractions.Result Statistical analyses revealed that AEMG and %DET were significantly higher at fatigue states than those at non fatigue states, while MPF and C(n)were significantly lower than those at non fatigue states. With the development of muscle fatigue,MPF and %DET significantly decreased during maximal effort, while AEMG and %DET stayed stable. The interaction of load level and fatigue state for AEMG,MPF and C(n)were significant. Conclusion MPF and C(n)significantly decrease during maximal voluntary isometric contractions.sEMG dynamics between fatigue state and non-fatigue state is significantly different.

0.05). The 5-year survival rates were 77.4% in LS group and 75.7% in OS group for stage Ⅰ/Ⅱ (P=0.626), and 71.8% in LS group and 65.6% in OS group for stage Ⅲ(P=0.517), respectively. Conclusion: Long-term effect of laparoscopic resection is similar to that of open resection for colon cancer, but laparoscopic surgery has less long-term complications.

Objective To examine the effects of different compositions of metabolic syndrome [Overweight and (or) obesity, hyperglycemia, hypertension, dyslipidemia] on chronic kidney disease. Methods A total of 1552 health data were collected from the survey of chronic kidney diseases among Uygur adults in Moyu country in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the relationship between metabolic syndrome and chronic kidney disease was analyzed by using SPSS 15.0 software package. Results Before and after adjusting of age and gender, the prevalence of metabolic syndrome was 14.18% and 14.45% (95% CI 14.30%?14.60%). The prevalence of albuminuria (7.27% vs 3.83%, χ2=5.42, P=0.02), reduced estimated glomerular filtration rate (9.55% vs 3.45%, χ2=16.96, P=0.00) and chronic kidney disease(13.64% vs 6.76%, χ2=12.52, P =0.00) increased in residents diagnosed as metabolic syndrome than those without metabolic syndrome. The prevalence of chronic kidney disease increased with the increasing number of metabolic syndrome elements. Conclusions The prevalence of chronic kidney disease is associated with the accumulation of metabolic syndrome compositions. Early intervention on metabolic risk factors may reduce the risk of chronic kidney disease.

Programmed cell death 5(PDCD5)is a new kind of programmed cell death regulation and control gene. PDCD5′s expression is widespread, and evolution is conservative. PDCD5 has the effect of promo-ting a wide variety of tumor cells to apoptosis and inhibiting proliferation, such as lung cancer, liver cancer et al. Several laboratories′ discoveries show that PDCD5′s expression is significantly decreased when in some dis-ease cases, especially in tumor cases. PDCD5,which is related to the clinical relevance of the tumor, has a great clinical value of discovering, diagnosis and treatment of the tumor.

Objective To evaluate the clinicopathological features, treatments and prognostic factors of male breast cancer (MBC) patients. Methods Clinical data of 102 MBC patients with histopathology confirmation at Tianjin Medical University Cancer Hospital were retrospectively analyzed. Results All 102 cases got follow-up.The follow-up rate was 100%.The follow-up period was 3-279 months. The mean follow-up period was 65 months.During the follow-up period, recurrence was found in 21 cases, metastasis occurred in 28 cases (including pulmonary metastasis in 8,osseous metastasis in 7,hepatic metastasis in 9,brain metastasis in 3,and soft tissues and adrenal gland metastasis in 1).The 5-year disease free survival rate was 54.3% and the 5-year overall survival rate was 72.8%.Univariate analysis showed that tumor size, axillary lymph node status,TNM stage, chemotherapy influenced the disease free and overall survival.Multivariate Cox regression shows that axillary lymph node status (P =0.085)was the independent prognostic factor of disease free survival for MBC.Tumor size(P =0.041)and axillary lymph node (P =0.024) status were independent prognostic factors of overall survival for MBC.Conclusions Early diagnosis and comprehensive treatment strategy consisting of radical mastectomy is essential to improve the survival of patients with MBC.

ObjectiveTo investigate the intelligence characteristics and relativity with motor development of children with spastic diplegia.MethodsIntelligence and motor development of 46 children with spastic diplegia were tested by Wechsler Intelligence Scale and Motor Development Milestone (MDM), to find out difference of intelligence between the children with diplegia and the normal control group.ResultsIntelligence quotient (IQ) of children with spastic diplegia was lower significantly than the normal control, specially performance IQ (PIQ). PIQ was related with motor development. The more delayed motor development was, the more lower PIQ was. Subtest scores of animal egg, puzzle, block design and picture generalization were lower in spastic diplegic children with normal IQ than that of the normal control group, while vocabulary IQ (VIQ) was not different.ConclusionThe intelligence structure of children with spastic diplegia is imbalanced and PIQ of those children is significantly lower than the normal children, which is related to hands-eyes correspond, sight-motor correspond and speed, and space-sight ability.
