OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of Ginkgolides inhalation on eosinophils infiltration in airway of asthmatic guinea pig model. METHODS: Guinea pigs were divided into seven groups(n=8 in each group): model group, ginkgolides inhalation low, medium and high dosage groups(5, 10, 20mg?kg-1, respectively), ginkgolides ip group (at a dosage of 20 mg?kg-1), Dexamethasone ip group (at a dosage of 10 mg?kg-1), normal control group. The eosinophils (EOS) in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and trachea were counted. Objective To evaluate the left atrial function and to explore its determinants in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy by three-dimensional echocardiography (3DE).Methods 46 patients with HCM (obstructive HCM:25 cases,nonobstructive HCM:21 cases) and 46 healthy cases (controls) were enrolled in this study.Time-volume curve of left atrium was acquired by 3DE in all subjects.Left atrial maximal volume (LAVmax),left atrial minimal volume (LAVmin) and left atrial presystolic volume (LAVp) were acquaired.Left atrial volume index (LAVI),left atrial expansion index (LAEI),left atrium emptying fraction (LAEF),left atrium passive emptying fraction (LAPEF) and 1eft atrium active emptying fraction (LAAEF) were calculated.Comparative analysis between two groups was taken .The Spearman correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis between left atrial volume index (LAVI) with interventricular septal thickness (IVSd),left ventricular outflow tract peak gradient (LVOT-PG),mitral regurgitation (MI), left ventricular diastolic function (LVDF) were analyzed respectively .Results Compared to the controls LAVmax (45.67 ±11.96)ml,LAVmin (20.48 ±6.80)ml,LAVp (24.48 ±9.31)ml,LAVI 25.63 ±6.52, LAEI (1.32 ±0.49)%,LAEF (55.25 ±8.06)%,LAPEF (35.90 ±7.00)%and LAAEF (30.20 ±10.13)%, the patient with HCM had a significantly larger LAVmax (81.45 ±24.24)ml,LAVmin (44.60 ±18.96)ml, LAVp (61.00 ±21.64) ml and LAVI 45.39 ±14.17,there were significant differences among the groups (t=8.978,8.123,9.227,8.436,all P<0.01),lower LAEI(0.95 ±0.43)%,LAEF (46.15 ±11.12)%, LAPEF (25.64 ±9.09)%,there were significant differences among the groups (t=-3.865,-4.493,-6.504,all P<0.01),and slightly lower LAAEF (28.20 ±9.26)%,there were no significant differences among the groups (t=-0.656,P>0.01).There were significant positive correlation between LAVI and IVSd,LVOT-PG,MI,LVDF respectively (r=0.704,0.517,0.640,0.701,all P<0.01).Multiple linear regression analysis demonstrated that IVSd , LVOT-PG, MI and LVDF were correlated factors of LAVI (absolute standardized coeffients =0.264,0.515,0.614,0.341,all P<0.05).Conclusions 3DE could evaluate the left atrial volume and function in patients with HCM , with increased left atrial volume and decreased reservioer,conduit and booster pump function .Mitral regurgitation,obstruction of left ventricular outflow tract,left ventricular diastolic dysfunction and the thickness of left ventricular wall contributed to left atrial dysfunction at different levels ,among which mitrial regurgitation contributed the most .

By reshaping the cornea without the creation of a stromal flap, excimer laser corneal surface ablation eliminates flap-related complications and avoids the risk of ectasia that may occur after laser assisted in situ keratomileusis ( LASIK ) . Post-operative pain is one of the most significant disadvantages of surface ablation and thus the management of pain and discomfort following surface ablation is of great importance. We summarize mechanism of corneal pain and current approaches to pain management after surface ablation.

Effect of ginsenoside total saponin (GTS) on the regulation of P450 of livers of rats after γ-ray irradiation was studied. Rats were irradiated by the ⁶⁰Coγ-ray for one-time dose of 5.5 Gy, dose rate of 117.1-119.2 cGy. The cocktail probe, qPCR and Western blot were used to detect expression of enzymatic activites, mRNA and protein of rats. Contrasted with blank group, expression of CYP1A2, 2B1, 2E1, 3A4 of irradiation group showed a up-regulated (P < 0.05). Contrasted with irradiation group, exprression of CYP1A2, 2B1, 2E1, 3A4 of GTS group showed a downward trend. GTS had negative agonistic action against expression of P450 of rats by irradiatied.

Objective To study the value of ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (FNA) in the diagnosis of axillary lymph node metastasis in breast cancer,and to compared with conventional ultrasound in the diagnosis of metastatic lymph nodes of breast cancer.Methods Five hundred patients were enrolled into study prospectively from our hospital.The set of standard for patients into study:patients were diagnosed by BI-RADS and classified into class 4 or class 5 preoperative,the maximum diameter of the tumor was less than 2 cm,and there was no case of distant metastasis.Ultrasound guided FNA was performed in each case,and the results were compared with conventional ultrasound diagnosis results,using pathological findings as gold standard.Results The sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value,negative predictive value and accuracy in the diagnosis of axillary lymph node by conventional ultrasound were 60.6%,67.6%,77.2%,48.7%,and 63.1%,respectively,and by ultrasound-guided FNA were 78%,100%,100%,71.6%,and 85.6%,respectively.There were significant differences between the two diagnostic methods statistically(χ2=113.2,P<0.001).Conclusions Ultrasound-guided FNA can effectively reduce the number of sentinel lymph node biopsy,which displays a certain clinical value.

ObjectiveTo study the mechanism of hemodynamic alternation surrounding the hematoma in the acute stage of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) in rats.MethodsSeventy male Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into ICH group and sham operated group, which were microinjected with 40 μl fresh autologous blood or saline into the right caudatum respectively. The each group was divided into 7 subgroups at 1h,3h,6h,12h,24h,48h and 72h after the ICH. CT perfusion imaging in measurements of regional cerebral blood flow adjacent to hematomas was performed. The ratios of side to side were measured at the regions around the hematomas by personal computer aided mapping. So the parameters of regional cerebral blood flow(rCBF), regional cerebral blood volume(rCBV) and mean transit time(MTT) were calculated respectively.ResultsThe rCBF and rCBV adjacent to the hematomas were lower than those of the outer region pronouncedly. The alternation of rCBF around the hematoma were fluctuated, which reduced to the valley at 1h after ICH, and then gradually returned to the peaks at 6h and 24h after ICH. In the meantime, the rCBV around the hematoma reduced to the valley at 1h after ICH, and then gradually increased to the peak at 24h after ICH.ConclusionThe abnormal hemodynamic changes can be found in the perihematomal region after ICH. The alternation of rCBF around the hematomas are fluctuated, but the changes of rCBV remain continuous increase. The mass effect of hematoma, intracranial hypertension caused by the mass effect of hematoma, and the autoregulation of cerebral blood flow motivated by the initial depression of cerebral blood flow play a very important role in the changes of cerebral blood flow.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the clinical effects of close reduction and minimally invasive percutaneous plate osteosynthesis in treating proximal humerus fractures in the aged.

METHODSFrom February 2012 to December 2013,39 patients with proximal humerus fractures were treated with minimally invasive percutaneous plate osteosynthesis (MIPPO group, 21 cases) and open reduction internal fixation (ORIF group, 18 cases). Including 17 males and 22 females in the study, and aged from 67 to 88 years old with an average of (71.8 ± 5.2) years old. In MIPPO group, there were 11 males and 10 females with an average age of (70.0 ± 5.3) years old;and in ORIF group, there were 10 males and 8 females with an average age of (72.0 ± 4.2) years old. Operation time, blood loss during operation, fracture healing time and postoperative complications were recorded. The functions of the shoulder joints were assessed according to Constant-Murley score at final follow-up.

RESULTSAll the patients were followed up from 11 to 27 months with an average of 18.1 months. The mean blood loss of the MIPPO group was (176.0 ± 57.4) ml,while the ORIF group was (356.0 ± 66.9) ml (t = 7.22,P = 0.01). The operation time of the MIPPO group was (47.4 ± 14.9) min, while the ORIF group was (92.7 ± 15.8) min (t = 0.79, P = 0.03). Fracture healing time in the MIPPO group and ORIF group was (17.6 ± 5.8), ( 21.7 ± 4.9) weeks, respectively (P < 0.05). The mean Constant-Murley score at final follow-up was 89.7 ± 14.5 in MIPPO group, and 81.8 ± 13.2 in ORIF group (P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONMIPPO has advantages of little trauma, less blood loss, rapid recovery, less vascular damage and so on and can effectively treat the proximal humerus fracture in the aged.

Objective To investigate the influence factors of quantitative changes of dendritic cells (DC) in neonate born to HBsAg positive mother.Methods Sixty HBsAg positive mothers and their newborns were enrolled from the Third People's Hospital of Taiyuan from July 2011 to March 2012.The serum hepatitis B virus (HBV) markers and HBV DNA in mothers and newborns before vaccination were determined by chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA) and fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR).The circulating frequencies of DC subsets were determined in the newborns by flow cytometry (FCM).The comparison of data was done by Mann-Whitney test and t test.The correlation analysis was done by Spearman rank correlation analysis and chi square test.Results Among 60 newborns,5 were HBsAg positive and HBV DNA negative.Among 60 HBsAg positive mothers,21 were HBeAg positive and 29 were HBV DNA positive.There was no significant quantitative difference of neonatal myeloid dendritic cells (mDC) and plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDC) between intrauterine infection group and intrauterine non-infection group (Z=-0.535,P=0.59 and Z=-0.027,P=0.98,respectively).However,mother's HBeAg positive status was closely related with neonatal HBeAg positive status (Pearson contingency coefficient was 0.928,P＜0.01).The frequencies of mDC in newborns born to HBeAg positive mothers were significantly lower than those born to HBeAg negative mothers (0.60±0.57 vs 0.87±0.58; Z=-2.085,P＜0.05).However,there was no significant quantitative differences of mDC and pDC between newborns born to HBV DNA positive mothers and born to negative mothers (Z=-1.272,P=0.20 and Z=-0.806,P=0.42,respectively).The frequencies of pDC were significantly lower in newborns born to mothers with HBV DNA＞ 1 × 107 copy/mL compared to newborns born to HBV DNA negative mothers (0.30±0.18 vs 0.64±0.55; t=-2.996,P=0.005).Conclusions HBeAg positive status of mothers may reduce neonatal frequencies of mDC.Neonatal frequencies of pDC may be reduced when the mothers' HBV DNA loads are more than 1 × 107 copy/mL.

OBJECTIVE: To research the mechanism of the tongue inspection in traditional Chinese medicine and to study the special relationship between temperature distribution of the tongue and the tongue color. METHODS: The temperature field of human and pig's tongue was measured by infrared thermal vision system and thermal-couple probe. The blood perfusion rates in the human tongue and the pig's tongue were obtained with laser Doppler rheometer and CBI-8000 physiology research system. The temperature field of the profile of tongue was computed by numerical method. RESULTS: The quantitative curve of the temperature distribution on the surface of tongue and the relationship between temperature and blood perfusion rate were obtained. And the temperature in the profile of tongue was obtained by finite element method. CONCLUSION: The research involves that the different tongue color can reflect different tongue temperature and blood perfusion rate. This proved that it is acceptable to apply the bio-heat transfer theory to the tongue inspection research. The results provided a new method to research the tongue inspection in traditional Chinese medicine.
