To investigate the cell proliferation inhibition and apoptosis induced by berberine a-hydroxy f-decanoylethyl sulfonate (HB) on MDA-MB-231 cells in vitro, and the inhibitory effect of HB on the expression of poly adenosine diphosphate RNA polymerase (PARP), MTT assay was used to detect the viability of MDA-MB-231 cells and cell cycle was examined by flow cytometry. The results showed that HB could significantly inhibit the proliferation of MDA-MB-231 cells, and mildly arrested cell cycle progression at S phase. The IC50S for 24, 48 and 72 h treatment were 4.65, 1.46 and 0.75 mg.L-1 (7.55, 2.37 and 1.22 micromol.L-1), respectively. Annexin V-FITC/PI double staining assay showed that HB increased apoptotic ratio of MDA-MB-231 cells. Western blotting analysis showed the expressions of procaspase-3, procaspase-9 and PARP were decreased after HB treatment, while their fragment increased. The results suggest that HB can inhibit the growth and induce apoptosis of MDA-MB-231 cells, which may be associated with inhibition of the expression of procaspase-3, procaspase-9 and PARP.

Objective To study the color digital fundus photography of the fundus in the physical examination in screening and clinical importance to guide treatment.Methods 50 245 cases (100 490 eyes) healthy subjects with Topcon TRC NW100 digital color fundus camera to take pictures after the screening analysis.Results The number of the Inspector General,50 245 cases,45 373 cases of normal,accounting for 90.3％,a general description of those 359 cases,accounting for 0.7％,the positive findings in 4513 cases,accounting for 9.0％.Positive comparison between men and women of all age groups showed no significant difference ( P ＞ 0.05 ).Positive findings of retinal arteriosclerosis in the detection rate of 7.4％,0.1％ of the diabetic retinopathy,macular degeneration,0.1％,0.6％ of retinopathy,optic atrophy 0.1％,the optic nerve C/D greater than 0.7％.Screening of the positive findings of the subjects to give timely and accurate diagnosisandtreatmentrecommendations.Conclusion Digitalcolorfundusphotography objectivity,reproducibility andnon-invasive characteristics of the image data to facilitate thestorage and exchange,andretinalmicrovascular disease couldbetter predictthe effects on cardiovascular and cerebrovascularevents,and therefore have important applications in the field ofhealthy value.

Objective To study the cause, prophyl ax is and management of the complications of laser treatment for varicose veins of the lower extremity. Method From Sep 2003 to Dec 2004, 52 patients (65 limbs) underwent endovenous ablat ion procedures. The laser was introduced into the vein to achieve venous occlusi on. Results Postoperative complications included ecchymosis in 12 cases, skin burn in 14 cases, saphenous nerve injury in 7 cases, thrombophlebitis in 3 cases, and subcutaneous fat liqu idation and infection in 2 cases. Most of the complications subsided after sympt omatic treatment in 2 to 3 weeks. Conclusion Most complications of laser treatment for varicose veins are transient and self-healing.

Objective To determine the content of paeoniflorin with different medicinal parts in Radix Paeoniae Alba and offer a reference for collection and processing. Methods The content of paeoniflorin was measured by HPLC method. Combining air drying with weight relief condition, the content of paeoniflorin was calculated in fresh Radix Paeoniae Alba. Results There was the highest content of paeoniflorin in Radix Paeoniae Alba in 24～48 hours after collection, and the another increasing of the content was founded 120 hours after collection. Conclusion Radix Paeoniae Alba should be processed in 48 hours after collection.

Objective To understand the mental health status of healthy young men from 18 districts or counties in Beijing,so as to provide evidence for mental health management.MethodsVolunteers who had participated physical check-ups and got normal results underwent psychological examinations,including computer tests,paper pencil intelligence tests,and structured psychological interviews.Results From 2006 to 2009,a total of 28 386 healthy young men from 18 districts or counties of Beijing completed psychological examinations.The unqualification rate was 2.53%,3.28%,7.56% and 7.52% in year 2006,2007,2008 and 2009,respectively.Conclusion The overall psychological condition of young men living in Beijing may be comparatively better,which might be related to the higher level of psychological education,increased school-entrance rate,better economic condition,higher educational level of parents and improved social and cultural activities.The computer software for psychological test could be stable to some certain extent.

Objective To investigate the clinical outcomes of different managements of complete rupture of the deltoid ligament associated with supination-external rotation ankle fracture.Methods From January 2010 to June 2014,33 cases of complete rupture of the deltoid ligament associated with supination-external rotation ankle fracture were treated with open reduction and internal fixation.According to the different managements of the complete rupture of the deltoid ligament,the patients were divided into 4 groups:9 cases in the non-repair group,7 cases in the superficial layer repair group,9 cases in the deep layer repair group,and 8 cases in the complete repair group.All the patients took anteroposterior,lateral and gravity stress radiographs preoperatively and postoperatively.The 4 groups were compatible in preoperative general data (P ＞ 0.05).The 4 groups were compared in terms of operation time,medial clear space and American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) ankle-hindfoot score.Results All the patients were followed up for 6 to 18 months (average,13.7 months).All wounds healed at the first stage without any infection.All fractures united primarily after 3 to 9 months (average,4.7 months).The operation time for the superficial layer repair group was significantly longer than for the non-repair group,but significantly shorter than for the deep layer repair and the complete repair groups (P ＜ 0.05).In gravity stress radiographs,there was no significant difference in medial clear space among the 4 groups (P ＞ 0.05),but there were significant differences before and after operation in the 4 groups (P ＜ 0.05).The postoperative AOFAS ankle-hindfoot score in the repair groups was significantly higher than in the non-repair group and the superficial layer repair group(P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion To achieve satisfactory outcomes for patients with complete rupture of the deltoid ligament associated with supination-external rotation ankle fractures,anatomic open reduction and rigid internal fixation is necessary,and repair of the deltoid ligament,especially its superficial layer,is a valuable contribution.

Objective To observe the effect of anti-Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori) treatment on patients with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) and its effect on blood platelet. Methods From April 2006 to April 2008, a total of 31 patients diagnosed as having ITP and H.pylori infection were collected. These patients were given standard antibiotic therapy for H.pylori eradication (omeprazole 20 mg, clarithromycin 0.5 g, and amoxicillin 1.0 g, twice per day for 1 week). The effect of anti-H.pylori treatment was analyzed, and the blood platelets were counted before the treatment and on day 7, 14, and 28 after the treatment. Results Of the 31 ITP patients with H.pylori infection, 21 were cured and 10 were not effective, with the effective rate 67.74 %. Blood platelet increased in the cured group but did not change in the no-effect group. Conclusion Anti-H.pylori treatment could increase the blood platelet, and H.pylori infection may be related to the reduction of blood platelet in ITP patients.

BACKGROUND: Poly hydroxybutyrate-hydroxyvalerate (PHBV) has been used to construct bioprosthetic heart valve. It remains unclear whether it can be used as membrane for guided bone regeneration. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the biocompatibility of PHBV membrane and evaluate its efficiency of promoting bone regeneration in vivo. METHODS: Effects of 100%, 75%, 50%, 25% PHBV extract solution on relative growth rate of dog bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells were measured by MTT method and cytotoxicity of the biomaterials was evaluated. Bone defects were made on distal bilateral tibias and treated with PHBV membrane; the proximal bilateral tibias undergoing reduction of periosteal flap and were used as control. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The toxicity gradation of PHBV membranes was grade 0-1. That is, they were not toxic to growth and proliferation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells. New bone regeneration was observed in the defects covered with PHBV membranes at week 2 post-surgery. The defects covered with PHBV membranes were filled with mature bone at week 12 post-surgery. The bone repair in experimental groups was earlier and better than that in control groups. Results demonstrated that PHBV membrane, which has no cytotoxicity to mesenchymal stem cells in a wide range of extract concentration, could be a promising biopolymer membrane for guided bone regeneration.
