OBJECTIVETo study the correlation between arachidonic acid (AA) and acute red blood cells damage in rats, and to build a model with hidden blood loss in vivo, and to explore the pathological mechenism of hidden blood loss.
METHODSA total of 50 male adult Sprague-Dawley rats weighing (200 ± 20) g were randomly divided into five groups (n = 10): control group and four experimental groups. The rats in the experimental groups were given 0.5 ml different concentrations of AA dilu- ents, 5, 10, 20, 40 mmol/L respectively. The blood samples were collected from orbital venous at the beginning and 24, 48, 72 hours after administration. Then the changes of hemoglobin (Hb) ,red blood cell count (RBC), glutathione peroxidase (GSH- PX) activity, total superoxide dismutase (T-SOD) activity and hydrogen peroxide (H202) in the blood samples were tested.
RESULTSSignificant hidden blood loss occurred when the concentration was 10 mmol/L in the experimental group, with the RBC and Hb sharply reduced in blood samples. The Hb and RBC were reduced in all the experimental groups and control group at 24 hours after administration, while in the experimental groups they changed more obviously. The GSH-PX activity, T-SOD activity and H₂O₂were also significantly reduced in all groups, and the changes showed significant differences. The Hb and RBC were relatively stable in the control group and the experimental groups at 48 hours after administration; while GSH-PX activity, T-SOD activity and H₂O₂were all significantly decreased, and the changes in the experimental groups were more notable.
CONCLUSIONElevated levels of AA in the blood causes oxidative stress in the red blood cells, leading to the damage of red blood cells and hemoglobin, which is responsible for hidden blood loss.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2018;22(4):631-637
BACKGROUND: Marathon runners and cyclists have been found to hold a lower bone mineral density than normal people. The relationship between exercises and bone mineral density as well as the effect of different sports events and exercise load on the bone mineral density need a further investigation. OBJECTIVE: To review and summarize the studies on the effects of different sports events on bone mineral density, thus providing reference for the exercise intervention for osteoporosis. METHODS: PubMed, SpringerLink, PMC, CNKI and WanFang databases were retrieved by bibliometrics for the articles addressing the effect of exercise on bone mineral density published from 2005 to 2015 with the keywords of "osteoporosis, bone mineral density, exercise" in English and Chinese, respectively. Finally, 51 eligible literatures were enrolled for analysis according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The analysis results show that swimming cannot improve the bone mineral density, and bicycle movement significantly reduces the bone mineral density. While the effects of long-distance running and marathon on the bone mineral density still remain unclear. In addition, the ball games and other sports also can significantly improve the bone mineral density.

BACKGROUND: The study aimed to investigate the therapeutic benefits of intravenous Xuebijing on acute kidney injury (AKI) in rats with paraquat intoxication. METHODS: Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided equally into three groups:sham group (n=8), paraquat group (n=8) and Xuebijing-treated group (n=8) using a random number table. The rats were intraperitoneally injected with 50 mg/kg of paraquat. One hour after paraquat administration, the rats were treated intravenously with Xuebijing (8 mL/kg). At 12 hours after paraquat administration, serum was collected to evaluate kidney function, then the rats were sacrificed and kidney samples were immediately harvested. AKI scores were evaluated by renal histopathology and pro-inflammatory cytokines mRNA levels in kidney were assayed using real-time RT-PCR. RESULTS: Serum urea nitrogen, creatinine and AKI scores were significantly higher in the paraquat group, compared with the sham group (P<0.05, respectively). Moreover, interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α mRNA levels were significantly higher in the paraquat group (P<0.01, respectively). However, intravenous Xuebijing significantly decreased serum urea nitrogen, creatinine, AKI scores and IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α mRNA levels, compared with the paraquat group (P<0.05, respectively). CONCLUSION: Intravenous Xuebijing attenuates AKI fol owing paraquat poisoning by suppressing inflammatory response.

Microbiology 1992;0(05):-
Two high protease producing strains, whic h are desi gnated Aspergillus oryzae AS100 and AS102, were screened and applied as main fermentation strains of swine blood meal. A Saccharomyces cerevisiae Y113 and a Bacillus Asp007 were also used as assistant fermentation strains. The enzyme production abilities we re studied, and a series of parameters of the fermentation technology were deter mined. Through swine blood meal fermentation, a high-protein fermented feed wa s produced, which is strong soy flavor and was rich in protein(69%), free amino acid, vitamin such as VitD 3 and niacin and organic elements such as Fe. It is a kind of high-protein feed for animals and it could be used as feedstuff addi tive.
