Objective To study the effects of nitric oxide (NO) on the growth and metastasis of tumor.Methods The literatures of recent years were reviewed.Results NO had double effects on the growth and metastasis of tumor. NO promoted the growth and metastasis by regulating the expression of tumor proliferation gene and inducing tumor angiogenesis. On the other hand, NO had antitumor effects by interfering with the metabolism of tumor cells, inducing the damage of DNA, forming high toxic free radical, inducing apoptosis of tumor cells and mediating the antitumor action of endothelial cells and macrophages.Conclusion Selective blockage or induction of synthesis of NO may be a new way for tumor therapy.

Objective To investigate the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and p53 protein in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and their relationship with angiogenesis. Methods Immunohistochemical method and image analysis technique were used to detect the expression of iNOS and p53 protein in tumor tissue sections of 59 HCC patients. Microvessel density (MVD) was counted by immunohistochemical staining with anti CD34 antibody.Results ①The expression rates of iNOS and p53 were 81.4%(48/59), 64.4%(38/59) in HCC patients, respectively. Objective To determine clinical characteristics and the effects of drug-eluting stents on the occurrence of major adverse cardiac events during percuteneous coronary artery interventional(PCI)and long- term outcomes in patients with chronic renal insufficiency(CRI).Methods Nine hundreds and seventy three patients with angiographically-documented coronary artery disease(lumen inner diameter narrowing＞50%), included 516 patients complicated with experienced renal impairment(CRI group)and 457 with normal renal function(control group).Baseline clinical data and coronary angiographic features were recorded.Results Comparing with control group,patients in CRI group were older with higher incidence of hypertension or diabetes and simultaneously complicated by reduced left ventricular ejection fraction,and more complex coronary lesions(type C).During follow-up(mean 17 months),the mortality was significantly higher in CRI than in control group(6.2% vs 3.3%,P＜0.05),but the former with CRI was significantly lower by using drug-eluting stents in comparing with bare-metal stents(4.1% vs 8.5%,P＜0.05).Conclusion Patients with CRI often complicated with severe coronary artery disease,the mortality after PCI would be significantly reduced by using drug-eluting stents.

A fusion expression vector pPIC3.5K-PDGFR? was constructed to express recombinant receptor tyrosine kinase PDGFR? and the right Pichia pastoris transformants were screened on his-deficient plates and YPD-G418 plates by turns after electroporation of strain GS115, a high yield strain named M3 was screened. The strain M3 was cultured in a 5 L fermentor and His-GFP-PDGFR? fusion protein was purified by Ni2+ chelating affinity chromatography. One distinct peak was obtained after elution with 250 mmol/L imidazole. Fusion protein was proved to be 90.08 kD by western blotting, and have tyrosine kinase activity by ELISA. Results showed that the receptor tyrosine kinase PDGFR? was successfully expressed in P. pastoris and could be used as a target for small molecule selective inhibitors screening.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of a levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system(LNG-IUS)for the treatment of dysmenorrhea associated with adenomyosis.Methods We recruited 48 women with moderate or severe dysmenorrhea associated with adenomyosis.All women were inserted of LNG-IUS into their uterine cavity from days 5-7 of their periods and maintained for 12 months.We compared the visual analogue scale(VAS)scores and verbal rating scale(VRS)scores of their dysmenorrhea and dyspareunia at baseline and 12 monthes follow-up.Results Forty-four women completed the study. There were significant differences between mean VAS and VRS scores changes of dysmenorrhea and dyspareunia at baseline and 12 monthes follow-up,those of dysmenorrhea dropping from 75?13 to 11?11 and 2.3?0.4 to 0.4?0.3,those of dyspareunia dropping from 54?19 to 4?4 and from 1.6?0.8 to 0.2?0.2 respectively.Overall 29 women(66%)were very satisfied or satisfied with the one-year treatment. Conclusion Insertion of LNG-IUS alleviates moderate or severe dysmenorrhea associated with adenomyosis remarkably.

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effects of curcumin(Cur)on trinitrobenzene sulphonic acid(TNBS)induced colitis and to investigate cytokines change in colon mucosa,spleen and sera.Methods Colitis was induced in SD rats by intrarectal injection of TNBS(100 mg/kg).Experi- mental animals were divided into negative control group,TNBS group and Cur therapeutic group(Cur, 30 mg?kg~(-1)?d~(-1),intraperitoneal injection).Expression of cytokines mRNA in colon mucosa was observed by RT-PCR,intracellular cytokines of interferon(IFN)-?and interleukin(IL)-4 in splenocytes were detected by flow cytometry(FCM),concentrations of IFN-?and IL-4 in sera were determined by enzyme-link immunosorbent analysis(ELISA).Results After treatment with Cur,macroscopic scores (3.9?1.0 vs.2.2?0.7),myeloperoxidase(MPO)activity(15.0?2.6 vs.7.3?1.4),mRNA of IFN-?(1.02?0.07 vs.0.06?0.02,mRNAof IL-12(0.29?0.05 vs.0.11?0.01)and the ratio of IFN-?/IL-4(11.44?0.97 vs.0.38?0.10)in colon mucosa,proportion of IFN-?CD4~+(31.7?7.5 vs. 21.1?3.7)and the ratio of IFN-?/IL-4 CD4~+(19.9?5.1 vs.6.1?1.8)in splenocytes,concentra tions of IFN-?[(1528?159)pg/ml vs.(513?14)pg/ml] and the ratio of IFN-?/IL-4(19.5?4.1 vs. 4.2?0.6)in sera were all decreased(P＜0.05 or P＜0.01).Meanwhile,mRNA of IL-4(0.09?0.01 vs.0.15?0.04)and IL-10(0.28?0.08 vs.0.63?0.12)in colon mucosa,proportion of IL-4 CD4~+ (1.6?0.5 vs.3.4?1.1)in splenocytes and concentrations of IL-4 in sera[(81?15)pg/ml vs.(124?20) pg/ml] were all increased after the treatment of Cur(P＜0.05 or P＜0.01).Conclusions Cur showed ther- apeutic effects on TNBS-induced colitis,and the mechanism might be through regulating the balance of Th1/ Th2 in colon locally and systematically.
