Two lab-scale expanded granular sludge bed reactors were operated using granular sludge and river sediments as seed sludge respectively, through gradually lowering down the inner pH values, acid-tolerant methanogenic granular sludge with good methanogenic activity were acquired and formed. Two EGSB reactors could be operated steadily under the condition of pH 5.8~6.2, and their volumetric loading rates were about 5.5~7.5 kg COD/(m3/d), the COD removal efficiencies were about 90%. The granular sludges taken from two reactors could maintain relatively higher methanogenic activity under low pH, and the relative activities of the granular could be 51.78% and 55.6% of the value with the condition of pH 7.0 when pH was 5.5. Studies on the diameter distribution, settling velocities, concentrations of different metal elements and microbiological characteristics of these acid-tolerant granular sludges were also conducted.

OBJECTIVETo study the blood enriching effects of Paeoniae Radix Rubra and Paeoniae Radix Alba, paeoniflorin and albiflorin on mouse model of blood deficiency caused by γ-ray radiation.
METHODBuild mouse model of blood deficiency induced by γ-ray radiation. Paeoniae Radix Rubra and Paeoniae Radix Alba were given during modeling. The amount of WBC was detected af- ter the treatment. Based on the result of WBC and paeoniflorin content, albiflorin content in Paeoniae Radix Rubra and Paeoniae Radix Alba, the same model and the same method were used to comparatively study the effect of blood enriching of paeoniflorin and albiflorin.
RESULTOn the 7th day, the amount of WBC in model mice treated with 2 g x kg(-1) Paeoniae Radix Alba and 2 g x kg(-1) Paeoniae Radix Rubra significantly increased compared with that of model group (P < 0.05). In another experiment with the same model, the amount of WBC in model mice treated with 120 mg x kg(-1) paeoflorin and 120 mg x kg(-1) albiflorin significantly increased (P < 0.05) compared with that of model group on the 7th day. On the 10th day, the amount of WBC in rats treated with 120 mg x kg(-1) paeoflorin increased significantly (P < 0.05) compared with that of model group. Compared with the same dose of paeoniflorin, the amount of WBC in mice treated with albiflorin had no significant difference.
CONCLUSIONAll Paeoniae Radix Alba, Paeoniae Radix Rubra, paeoniflorin and al- biflorin can raise the amount of WBC and have the effect of enriching blood induced by radiation, while paeoniflorin and albiflorin have a similar result in this model. The result indicated that both paeoniflorin and albiflorin are effective constituents in Paeoniae Radix Alba, and paeoniflorin work as the common effective constituent in both Paeoniae Radix Rubra and Paeoniae Radix Alba.

Objective To determine clinical characteristics and the effects of drug-eluting stents on the occurrence of major adverse cardiac events during percuteneous coronary artery interventional(PCI)and long- term outcomes in patients with chronic renal insufficiency(CRI).Methods Nine hundreds and seventy three patients with angiographically-documented coronary artery disease(lumen inner diameter narrowing>50%), included 516 patients complicated with experienced renal impairment(CRI group)and 457 with normal renal function(control group).Baseline clinical data and coronary angiographic features were recorded. Results Comparing with control group, patients in CRI group were older with higher incidence of hypertension or diabetes and simultaneously complicated by reduced left ventricular ejection fraction, and more complex coronary lesions(type C).During follow-up(mean 17 months),the mortality was significantly higher in CRI than in control group(6.2% vs 3.3%,P<0.05),but the former with CRI was significantly lower by using drug-eluting stents in comparing with bare-metal stents(4.1% vs 8.5%,P<0.05).Conclusion Patients with CRI often complicated with severe coronary artery disease, the mortality after PCI would be significantly reduced by using drug-eluting stents.

OBJECTIVETo investigate surgical outcomes of strip nail internal fixation with bone graft in treating tibial plateau fracture.
METHODSFrom May 2012 to May 2014,36 patients with tibial plateau fracture were retrospectively analyzed, including 25 males and 11 females with an average age of 43.5 (ranged from 17 to 65) years old. The time from injury to operation ranged from 3 to 10 days with an average of 5.8 days. All patients were treated with L-shaped and T-shaped strip nail internal fixation with bone graft. It was evaluated by the Knee Functional therapy assessment method of the Special Surgical Hospital of American at final following-up. Varus angle, caster angle and femorotibial angle were recorded and compared at 3 days and 1 year.
RESULTSOperative time was (2.2 ± 0.6) h on average, blood loss was (310.5 ± 36.2) ml on average, hospital stay was (14.8 ± 2.7) days on average. Thirty-six patients were followed up from 12 to 30 months with an average of 18.2 months. Fracture healing time ranged from 4 to 8 months with an average of 6.2 months. The difference is not significant among varus angle, caster angle and femorotibial angle at 3 days and 1 year. According to the knee functional therapy assessment method of the Specialized Surgical Hospital of American, 18 cases got excellent results, 13 good, 4 moderate and 1 poor.
CONCLUSIONStrip nail internal fixation with bone graft for the treatment of tibial plateau fracture could effectively prevent the joint surface from secondary collapse, and achieve anatomic reduction, stable fixation and earlier functional exercise in further to get satisfied clinical effects.

Objective To compare the relative efficacy and quality of extraction of human fecal DNA using four methods. Methods Real-time PCR were utilized for analysis both quantification and quality of the fecal targeted bacteria(including gut all eubaeterium,Bacteriodes-PrevoteUa group,Bifidobacterium spp Enterobacteriaceae and Enterococcus spp)by using 16s rRNA gene-targeted genus or group-specific primer sets. Results The negative rat of PCR product from method 3(phenol-chloroform plus bead-beating) was about 40%(4/10)by using universal primers, the PCR inhibition disappeared after fecal DNA purified with column. The total fecal 16s rRNA gene copy numbers(per gram of wet weight of feces)as well as the numbers of Bacteriodes-Prevotella group from method 1(QIAamp~DNA stool mini kit)and 4(QIAamp~ DNA stool mini kit combined with bead-beating)was higher significantly than that from method 2(FastDNA ~Kit,Biol01)and 3(P

Objective To investigate the effects of quetiapine and risperidone in the treatment of behavior and psychiatric symptom of dementia(BPSD).Methods 56 cases of Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia pa- tients were all met for the classification and diagnostic criteria for mental illness in China(CCMD-3)and randomly divided into two groups(27 in quetiapine group,29 in risperidone group),experimental dosage were 0.05~0.3g/d and 1~2mg/d,respectively.The treatment lasted for 8 weeks. Results The total efficiency of quetiapine was 66.67% and that of risperidone was 65.5%,and the statistical difference was significant. As for the adverse effects, there was no significant difference, but incidence of EPS in quetiapine group was less than that of risperidone group. Conclusion Quetiapine can be widely administrated in clinic application as the high efficacy of control BPSD with low minor adverse effect.

International Eye Science 2016;16(7):1273-1275
Myopia is one of the most popular eye diseases all over the world. The development of the current understanding of its mechanism is still limited. Many studies indicated that the growth factors closely related to eye development and myopia. Some growth factors with biological activity, such as transforming growth factor ( TGF ), fibroblast growth factor ( FGF ) and epidermal growth factor ( EGF ), have an impact on scleral thickness variation, the regulation of the development of myopia and so on, which plays a non-negligible role in the pathogenesis of myopia. In this paper, the function of various growth factors in myopia will be reviewed.
