The quality control method and standard were established to control the quality of Pteris multifida in this paper. The tests of water content, total ash, acid-unsoluble ash and ethanol-soluble extractives of P. multifida were carried out according to the methods recorded in appendix of Chinese Pharmacopeia (2010 edition, volume 1) . The TLC method was established by using rhoifolin as references, and a mixture of CHCl3 -MeOH-HAc (6: 1: 1) as the developing solvent system on GF254 thin layer plate. The contents of rhoifolin was determined by HPLC on a Diamonsil C18 (4.6 mm x 250 mm, 5 μm) column, using acetonitrile-water (containing 0.15% formic acid) (16: 84) as mobile phase at a flow rate of 1.0 mL x min(-1). The column temperature was 30 degrees C and the detection wave-length was 350 nm. As a result, pterosin C 3-O-β-D-glucosidede and the other constituents were well separated on TLC detected under the UV light at 254 nm . The methodology validation for the assay of rhoifolin presented that it was in good linear correlation in the ranges of 0.025 5-5.1 μg with the regression equations of Y = 1 092.4X + 9.503 5 (r = 0.999 8), and the average recoveries were 100.3% (RSD 1.3%). The content range of rhoifolin from 16 different batches of Pteris multifida was 0.08-5.06 mg x g(-1). The water content, total ash, acid-unsoluble ash and ethanol-soluble extractives of 16 samples varied in the ranges of 7.35% - 12.96%, 6.90% - 16.33%, 2.07% -11.38% and 13.29% -23.87%, respectively. The suggesting limes in the quality standard for water content, total ash, acid-unsoluble ash, ethanol-soluble extractives and rhoifolin content were ≤ 12% , ≤ 15% , ≤ 8.5% , ≥ 14% and ≥ 0.040%, respectively. The result proved that the established quality of control method was specific and accurate, which can be used for the quality control of P. multifida.

There exist a number of mercury-resistant bacterial in environment, Mer operon is involved in the resistant mechanism, MerRTPA of Mer operon encodes the proteins related to the regulation, transport and reduction of mercury ion, respectively. The toxic mercury ion is transported by MerTP from medium to cytoplasmic mercuric reductase, MerA, and deoxidized to non-toxic and volatile element mercury, Hg(0). Bacterial mercury-resistant system originated from ancient times, and evolved into the Mer operon with diversity by gene integration and insertion. Mercury-resistant bacteria highly specifically absorb mercury ion, and can be used in recovering the mercury-polluted environment as well as the genetic selective marker.

Objective To study the molecular mechanism of berberine induced apoptosis in chemoresistant EU-4 acute lymphocytic leukemia cells.Methods EU-4 cells were treated with 0,10 and 100 μmol/L berberine for 72 h.The apoptosis induced by berberine was detected by flow cytometry.The expression of Caspase-3,PARP and X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein (XIAP) were determined by Western bolt assay.Caspase-3 activity was measured using microplate reader.After transfected with XIAP siRNA,the apoptosis was detected by flow cytometry.Results After treated with 0,10 and 100 μmol/L berberine for 72 h,the apoptosis rates of EU-4 cells were (9.08±1.20) ％,(22.36±2.16) ％ and (59.81±4.17) ％,respectively.Berberine induced potent apoptosis in a dose-dependent manner.The apoptosis involved activation of Caspase-3.The Caspase-3 activities were 1.70±0.25,1.92±0.10 and 2.89±0.25,respectively.Berberine inhibited XIAP expression in a dose-and time-dependent manner (P ＜ 0.05).Down-regulation of XIAP by siRNA increased apoptosis of EU-4 cells.The apoptosis rates were (9.23±1.66) ％ and (22.15±0.63) ％.Conclusion Berberine could induce apoptosis of EU-4 cells,and inhibition of XIAP leading to Caspase-3 activation is responsible for the apoptotic effect on EU-4 cells.

Background and purpose:The aim of this study was to analyze the prognostic factors in uterine adenocarcinoma and adenosquamous carcinoma treated with a combination of neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy and surgery.Methods:Clinicopathologic data from 50 patients with stageⅠB2-ⅡA2 uterine cervical cancer were collected from the First Afifliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical College between Apr. 2005 and Oct. 2011. All patients underwent neoajuvant chemoradiotherapy, followed by radical hysterectomy and pelvic lymph node dissection. Before surgery, an intravenous chemotherapy was given. A particular vaginal brachytherapy was given to those with tumor diameter≥6 cm. The survival and recurrence in patients were analyzed retrospectively to investigate the prognostic factors. Results:In 50 patients withⅠB2-ⅡA2 uterine adenocarcinoma and adenosquamous carcinoma, 15 died during the follow-up period. The 2-year and 5-year progression-free survival rates were 80.12% and 72.24%, respectively, and median progression-free survival was 68 months. The 2-year and 5-year overall survival rates were 95.38% and 73.56%, respectively, and median overall survival was 80 months. Univariate analysis revealed that pelvic lymph node metastasis, cervical stromal invasion, parametrial infiltration, tumor diameter reduction <3 cm and advanced stage were the prognostic factors in patients with cervical cancer (P<0.05). Age, postoperative radiochemotherapy, lymphatic clearance involvement, FIGO stage, preservation of ovary and pathologic type were not associated with prognosis (P>0.05). Multivariate Cox proportional analysis revealed that pelvic lymph node metastasis and tumor diameter reduction after radiation and chemotherapy were the independent prognostic factors in patients with cervical cancer. Conclusion:The combination of neoadjuvant chemotherapy and surgery improves the resectable rate of patients withⅠB2-ⅡA2 uterine adenocarcinoma and adenosquamous carcinoma. Pelvic lymph node metastasis and tumor diameter reduction after radiation and chemotherapy are the independent prognostic factors in patients with cervical cancer.

Objective To study the relationship between biofilm-forming ability,distribution of quorum sensing related genes and antibiotic resistance in clinical isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.Methods The biofilm-forming ability of 94 clinical isolates was analyzed semi-quantitatively by crystal violet staining.The antibiotic resistance of the isolates was determined by K-B method.Quorum sensing related genes,lasI,lasR,rhlR and rhlI,were detected by PCR.The diffe,rences of drug resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa with different biofilm-forming ability and the effects of quorum sensing related genes on biofilm-forming ability were analyzed.Results Of the 94 isolates,89(94.7％) showed biofilm-forming ability.The 89 isolates consisted of 22(23.4％) isolates with weakly positive biofilm-forming ability,44 (46.8 ％) with positive biofilm-forming ability and 23 (24.5 ％) with strongly positive biofilm-forming ability.The strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa with different biofilm-forming ability showed different drug resistance rates to amikacin,tobramycin and gentamicin (P ＜ 0.05).The drug resistance rate of the strains with strong positive biofilm-forming ability to amikacin was higher than that of the strains with positive and weakly positive biofilm-forming ability(P ＜ 0.05),and the drug resistance rates to tobramycin and gentamicin were higher than those of the strains with weakly positive biofilm-forming ability(P ＜ 0.05).Of the 94 isolates,91 strains carried lasI,lasR,rhlI and rhlR gene and 2 strains only lost lasR gene,and 1 strain lost all the 4 genes.The strains with only lasR gene deficiency or all the lasI,lasR,rhlI and rhlR gene deficiencies showed negative biofilm-forming ability,and were sensitive to conventional antimicrobial agents.Conclusion Most of the clinical isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in this study showed strong ability of biofilm-forming ability which may correlate positively to partial antibiotic resistance.The quorum sensing related genes may affect biofilm formation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Objective To explore the construction method of semantic types of military medical ontology and to establish a framework for the semantic types of the top-level ontology of military medicine in order to lay the foundation for the construction of military medical ontology and provide support for knowledge organization, knowledge disclosure and knowledge service of military medical information resources.Methods Using the method of document measurement, the core concept set of military medicine was constructed.On the basis of the framework of the top-level semantic types of Unified Medical Language System(UMLS), the semantic type framework was completed by the combination of bottom-up and top-down modes, using semantic analysis and expert consultation.Results By classifying the same kind of knowledge points of military medicine into one semantic type, the hierarchical structure of the semantic type framework of the top-level ontology of military medicine was obtained.Conclusion The proposed method is effective and practical for the construction of the semantic types of military medical ontology.The established semantic type framework of the top-level ontology of military medicine could reconstruct military medical knowledge and provide the basic framework for the establishment of the semantic relationships of the top-level ontology of military medicine.

PurposeTo evaluate multislice spiral CT (MSCT) in diagnosing abdominal anaphylactoid purpura (AAP), and to explore its role in treatment follow-up.Materials and Methods Clinical and MSCT data of 13 patients with confirmed AAP were retrospectively analyzed. All patients underwent abdominal CT scan and thin layer reconstruction. Upper endoscopy was performed in 8 patients prior to treatment. MSCT was performed in 10 patients and endoscopy in 4 patients posttreatment, then clinical and CT features were compared to pretreatment findings.Results In pretreatment CT scan, single segment bowel involvement was found in 2 cases, multisegmental bowel involvement in 10 cases, and no positive finding in 1 patient. The duodenum and jejunum were involved in 8 patients and stomach in 5 patients. The diseased bowel wall showed swelling and thickening with decreased attenuation and homogeneous luminal narrowing with equivocal lining and double loop sign. Infiltration was found in 10 patients, small ascites in 3 patients. Patients were misdiagnosed as acute pancreatitis in 2 cases, acute cholecystitis, small bowel obstruction and peritonitis in 1 case respectively. Of 13 patients, five patients were cured, and the other 8 patients were improved. The clinical symptoms including rash, abdominal pain, occult blood, leukocytosis, vomiting, melena, urine occult blood were improved (χ2=5.59-18.33,P<0.05 orP<0.01). Post treatment CT showed significant improvement of bowel edema and infiltration (P<0.01). There was no statistically significant difference in change of ascites (P>0.05).Conclusion MSCT findings of AAP are nonspecific. CT diagnosis is difficult before skin rash. Combining CT characteristics of multisegmental bowel edema and clinical manifestations is helpful. CT examination can effectively follow up treatment response.
