Aim To study the effect of IL-1β on pro-tein expression of vascular endothelial growth factor in glioma cells and plasma membrane microcapsule struc-ture protein caveolin-1 and plasma membrane vesicles in brain microvascular endothelial cells, and prelimi-narity discuss the possible mechanism of IL-1β opening blood tumor barrier. Methods The tumor barrier mod-el was established by transwell in vitro. The effect of IL-1β on the expression of VEGF in glioma cells and caveolin-1 in brain microvascular endothelial cells was dynamically monitored by Western blot. TEM was used to observe the number of plasma membrane vesicles of brain microvascular endothelial cells. Sodium fluores-cein leakage test was used to assess the permeability of blood tumor barrier after IL-1β. Results The tumor barrier model was successfully established by transwell in vitro. When IL-1β treated the model of blood tumor barrier, the expression of VEGF increased, and reached the peak at 60min,and recovered to the initial state at 120min. The permeability of the blood tumor barrier model was the highest at 60min. In addition, our re-sults also found that, the protein expression of plasma membrane microcapsule structure protein caveolin-1 and number of plasma membrane vesicles in brain mi-crocapsule endothelial cells reached peak at 60 min, subsequently reduced and returned to non drug state at 120min. Conclusion IL-1β increases blood tumor barrier permeability, which may be related to IL-1β in-creasing the number of plasma membrane vesicles through VEGF/ caveolin-1 pathway.

Objective To observe the clinical effect of Sarcandra glabra extracts against oxida-tive damage. Methods 46 patients diagnosed as nasopharyngeal careinoma stage Ⅲ and Ⅳ a were ran-domly divided into control group (n=25) and study group (n=21). All patients underwent combined chemoradiotherapy treatment. Besides, the patients in study group were given Sarcandra glabra 20 g/d orally. The total activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and plasma eontent of malonaldehyde (MDA) were measured before and after treatment. The tumor regression and aeute chemoradiotherapy side reaction were observed after treatment. Results All patients fulfilled the whole range treatment, After treatment, the total plasma SOD activity decreased and plasma MDA level was elevated in con-trol group, while both SOD aetivity and MDA level were reduced in study group (P<0. 05). When the therapy ended, the SOD of study group was higher and MDA was lower than that of control group (P<0.05). There was no difference in tumor local control rate after radiotherapy between two groups (P>0.05). The incidence rate and severity of acute chemoradiotherapy side reaction were slighter in study group than those in control group (P<0. 05). Conclusion Sarcandra glabra extracts exerts obvious inhibitory effect on oxidative damage. Combined with chemoradiotherapy, Sarcandra glabra contributes to the tumor regression of patients with stage Ⅲ and Ⅳa nasopharyngeal carcinoma and at-tenuation of chemoradiotherapy side reaction.

AIM: To analyze the effect of preoperative intravitreal injection of Ranibizumab ( lVR ) in patients undergoing pars plana vitrectomy ( PPV ) for proliferative diabetic retinopathy ( PDR) .
●METHODS:ln this retrospective research, 62 patients (67 eyes ) with PDR in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from Jun. 2014 to Jun. 2015 were recruited. They were assigned to an experimental group ( n=37 eyes ) and a control group ( n=30 eyes ) . The patients in experimental group were given 1 injection of lVR ( Lucentis 1. 0mg/0. 1mL ) 1wk before surgery, whereas those in control group went down to surgery directly. The average operation time, iatrogenic breaks, the use of tamponade, electric coagulation, and vision increase rate were comparatively analyzed between two groups.
●RESULTS:The average operation time was (91. 7±20. 8) min in the experimental group vs (117. 6±18. 6)min in the PPV group(t = -5. 314,P<0. 05). The rate of electric coagulation (11%) vs (47%), (χ2 =8. 963, P=0. 006);iatrogenic breaks (5%) vs (33%), (χ2=8. 789, P=0. 004) and silicone oil or inert gas tamponade ( 27. 0%) vs (53. 3%), (χ2 = 4. 828, P = 0. 043 ). The rate of visual improvement (75. 7%) vs (46. 7%), (χ2 = 5. 960, P =0. 022 ) . There was no severe complication associated with surgery, such as choroidal detachment, retinal detachment and endophthalmitis.
●CONCLUSION:lVR before microincision vitrectomy can effectively shorten the operation time, reduce the use of electric coagulation and intraocular tamponade, and improve the rate of visual improvement for PDR patients.
