Objective To identify the effects of parenteral nutrition (PN) on the gene expressions of rat intestinal inflammatory cytokincs and receptors and to explore the role of these changes in PN-related intestinal impairment. Methods Totally 12 male Sprague-Dawley rats were equally divided into the control group and the PN group. A silastic catheter was inserted into the right jugular vein of each rat. No food or water was administered to the PN group except for a continuous 24-hour PN infusion through the silastic catheter in the jugular vein. The control group, while being regularly fed, was administered with an infusion of normal saline through the silastic catheter in thc jugular vein. After 7 days, intestinal tissues were taken for electron microscopy and real-time PCR array to analyze thc microstructure change in rat intestine and thc gene expressions of inflammatory cytokines and their receptors. Results Electron microscopy revealed atrophy of microvillus, engorgement of mitochondria, cell-cell junction breakage, and several apoptotic bodies in the PN group and normal intestinal microstructure in the control group. Compared with the control group, the PN group showed an up-regulation in the gene expressions of interferon γ, interleukin-1 receptor type I , interlcukin-8 receptor type b and a down-regulation in the gene expressions of CC chemokine ligand 17 (CCL17) , CCL19, CCL21, CCL22, CCL9, CXC chemokine receptor 3, CC chemokine receptor 3 ( CCP3 ), CCR7, CCR5, C-reactive protein, and interleukin-10. Conclusions PN influences the gene expressions of rat intestinal inflammatory cytokincs and receptors. The expression of cytokine interferon γ increases and that of interleukin-10 declines, and the expressions of CCL19, CCL21, CXC chemokine receptor 3, CCR3,CCR7, and CCR5 decline. The alterations of these genes may be associated with the impairment of intestinal immune and mechanical functions.

Objective To explore the related risk factors of injuries caused by non-motor vehicle crashes in Hefei,Anhui Province. Methods From June 2009 to June 2011,the wounded from nonmotor vehicle crashes in Hefei were admitted to our hospital. The data of the wounded were collected to perform hypothesis test to screen out the related risk factors, which were then analyzed with multiple-factor non-conditional Logistic regression analysis. Results A total of 205 cases who were wounded in the non-motor vehicle crashes were admitted to our hospital from June 2009 to June 2011.Among all the cases,146 cases were wounded in electric bicycle crashes and 59 cases in bicycle crashes. There were 147cases (71.7%) of mild to moderate injuries ( ISS ≤ 15 ),and 58 cases (28.3%) of severe injuries (ISS > 15 ) including six deaths (2.9%).Single factor of different categories of the hypothesis test suggested that age, category, driving behavior, crash model, impact type, vehicle type were all related with the severity of injuries caused by non-motor vehicle crashes in Hefei. The multiple-factor non-conditional Logistic regression analysis showed four risk factors for the injury severity in non-motor vehicle crashes in Hefei,ie,vehicle type, crash model, violations of rules and regulations as well as age, according to the degree of correlation. Conclusion With the study of non-motor vehicle crashes in Hefei, primary identification of the risk factors for the traffic injuries is obtained, which provides scientific basis for the decrease of casualty and establishment of intervention measures.

AIM:To observe the clinical effect of femtosecond laser assisted penetrating keratoplasty.
METHODS: Twenty-four cases ( 24 eyes ) with corneal lesions were performed with femtosecond laser assisted penetrating keratoplasty. Preoperative and postoperative endothelial cell density and visual quality were compared.RESULTS: One week after operation, corneal grafts were clear in 21 eyes (87. 5%), mild cloudy in 3 eyes (12.5%);visual acuity ≥0. 5 in 18 eyes (75. 0%), 0. 2 ~0.4 in 6 eyes ( 25. 0%). After 3mo the mean corneal astigmatism was 2. 16±0. 21D ( range 2. 25 ~ 3. 09D). Compared to conventional penetrating keratoplasty which mean corneal astigmatism was average 3. 67±0. 38D after operation, there was significant difference between two groups ( P< 0. 05 ). There were significant differences between preoperative and postoperative visual acuity and astigmatism (both P<0. 05).
CONCLUSION: Femtosecond laser assisted penetrating corneal transplantation operation can improve patient's visual quality. And compared to traditional penetrating keratoplasty astigmatism decreased significantly, incision can be made in individual shape more precisely and neatly.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of a levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system(LNG-IUS)for the treatment of dysmenorrhea associated with adenomyosis. Methods We recruited 48 women with moderate or severe dysmenorrhea associated with adenomyosis. All women were inserted of LNG-IUS into their uterine cavity from days 5-7 of their periods and maintained for 12 months. We compared the visual analogue scale(VAS)scores and verbal rating scale(VRS)scores of their dysmenorrhea and dyspareunia at baseline and 12 monthes follow-up.Results Forty-four women completed the study. There were significant differences between mean VAS and VRS scores changes of dysmenorrhea and dyspareunia at baseline and 12 monthes follow-up,those of dysmenorrhea dropping from 75?13 to 11?11 and 2.3?0.4 to 0.4?0.3,those of dyspareunia dropping from 54?19 to 4?4 and from 1.6?0.8 to 0.2?0.2 respectively.Overall 29 women(66%)were very satisfied or satisfied with the one-year treatment. Conclusion Insertion of LNG-IUS alleviates moderate or severe dysmenorrhea associated with adenomyosis remarkably.

Functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI),as a noninvasive technology of measuring human brain function, has been used in neurolingustic research on normal subjects and on patients with brain damage,to investigate the neural basis underlying language processing.Such studies complement and development the classical knowledge accumulated on aphasia, provide new insights into the neural mechanisms of aphasia and the plasticity of recovery from aphasia, and might be helpful to evaluate the capability of language functional recovery and the efficiency of rehabilitative strategies also.
