Objective To analyze the data collected from surveillance sites in Shanxi province in epidemiological investigations during 2004 - 2008 and understand the influence of such factors as rat density and vectorial quantities on plague epidemic intensity, thus provide some scientific basis for plague control and prevention. Methods To collect the data of surveillance during 2004 - 2008 in the 12 counties of plague surveillance by retrospective method. Sort and analyze the collected data according to the requirement of operational scheme for plague surveillance-calculate the rat density of spermophilus dauricus, meriones meridianus and the small rodents, and the flea index and the flea infection ratio of body flea, burrow track, cave. The results of serological tests were analyzed at the same time. Results As showed in the results, the mean density of spermophilus dauricus was 1.12 merely in each hectare, and that of meriones meridianus and small rodents were 7.42%(2130/28 700) and 8.03%(3886/48 400), respectively. The flea infection rate of spermophilus dauricus and meriones meridianas were 25.78% ( 1933/7497 ) and 44.19% (2028/4598), respectively;the flea index of spermophilus dauricus and meriones meridianus were 0.59 and 1.84, respectively. The number of nests excavated with flea for spermophilus dauricus was 70, and the numbers of nests and flea were 362 and 333, respectively. The flea infection rate was 19.34 % (70/362), and the flea index was 0.92. The number of nests excavated with flea for meriones meridianus was 34, and the numbers of nests and flea were 177 and 124, respectively. The flea infection rate was 19.21%(34/177), and the flea index was 0.70. The number of caves explored for spermophilus dauricus was 7171,and the number of burrows with flea was 62, so the flea infection rate was 0.86%(62/7171 ), and the flea index was 0.01. Conclusions With a relatively high density and large quantity and considering the epidemic features of animal plague in periphery provinces in recent years, plague may still happen and spread in Shanxi province diespite the negative results of all those serological tests, by means of importing from other provinces.

AIM: To study p42/p44 mitogen - activated protein kinases ( MAPK ) signal transduction pathway effect on vascular endothelial growth factor ( VEGF ) expression induced by elevated glucose concentration in cultured human retinal pigment epithelium ( hRPE) .
METHODS:hRPE cells were cultured and divided into four groups:normal glucose group (NG) (5. 6mmol/L), high glucose group ( HG1:15mmol/L D-glucose, HG2:20mmol/L D - glucose, HG3:30mmol/L D - glucose ), PD98059 group: hRPE cells were treated by an efficient and selective inhibitor PD98059 (20μmol/L) of p42/p44MAPK signal transduction pathway and solvent dimethyl sulfoxide group ( DMSO group) . The expression of VEGF and pigment epithelium derived factor ( PEDF ) mRNA was detected by RT-PCR. VEGF protein expression in cultured hRPE supernatants was detected by enzyme-linked immumosorbent assay ( ELISA) .
RUSULTS: VEGF mRNA and protein expression induced by elevated glucose concentration increased significantly. VEGF mRNA and protein expression were restrained in PD98059 group. Ratio of ( VEGF/β-actine)/( PEDF/β - actine ) in PD98059 group decreased significantly compare with that in high glucose group.
CONCLUSION: p42/p44MAPK signal transduction pathway might play a part in VEGF expression induced by elevated glucose concentration in cultured hRPE cells.

Objective: To investigate the killing activity of cytokine-induced killer (CIK) cells after incubation with autologous tumor cell lysate-pulsed dendritic cells (Ag-DC) and to evaluate the immune functions of patients, the clinical efficacy and side effect of Ag-DC in combination with CIK on hepatocellular carcinoma. Methods: Peripheral blood mononuclear cells were isolated from 24 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma, and cultured with granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor and interleukin-4 to produce dendritic cells (DCs). The DCs were pulsed with autologous tumor cell lysate. T lymphocytes from PBMC were cultured with interferon-Y (IFN-γ), IL-2, CD3-moAb, and IL-1α to prepare CIK. The killing effect of CIK on SMMC-7721 was investigated after CIK was incubated with Ag-DC. After immunotherapy with Ag-DC and CIK, immunolog-ic and clinical responses of the 24 patients were evaluated. Results: The killing effect of CIK was remarkably improved after CIK was incubated with Ag-DC. The immunotherapy with DC and CIK alleviated symptoms and improved the immune functions of the patients. Except for transient fever and chill, no remarkable adverse events were observed. Conclusion: Ag-DC in combination with CIK shows short-term efficacy on hepatocellular carcinoma through inducing specific anti-tumor immunity and can be an effective adjuvant therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma.
9.Comparative study between the Meibomian pulsation system and the warm compress treatment for MGD
International Eye Science 2018;18(7):1324-1328
·AIM: To compare the efficacy and safety of LipiFlow pulsation system and traditional Meibomian warm compress treatment for patients with Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). ·METHODS: Totally 50 patients with MGD were selected, whom were randomly divided into experimental group ( 25 cases ) and control group ( 25 cases ). The experimental group underwent a single treatment with the LipiFlow pulsation system. Subjects of the control group were subjected to a daily 15- minute warm compress treatment, lasting 2wk. Comparative analyses were made during moments before and 4, 8 and 12wk after treatments, according to the evaluation of eight indexes including subjective symptoms, tear film break-up time ( TBUT), tear film lipid layer thickness (LLT), Meibomian deletions etc. Those analyses were made using LSD-t test, to analyze the effectiveness evaluation parameters at different time points. Independent samples t-test was employed to compare those statistic results between experimental group and control group. · RESULTS: Statistically significant differences were observed on Ocular Surface Disease Index ( OSDI), the quality of Meibomian secretions and Schirmer test ( P<0. 05). There were also statistically significant differences on the difference in degree of improvements in OSDI, the Meibomian glands yielding liquid secretion, fluorescein staining score LLT, TBUT between the experimental group and control group (P<0. 05). There were no differences on safety parameters between two groups. ·CONCLUSION: A single treatment with the LipiFlow pulsation system and warm compress treatment are effective and safe for MGD, while the former is better.

OBJECTIVETo explore mid-term follow up results of distal fixation prosthesis in treating unstable intertrochanteric fractures in elderly patients.
METHODSFrom May 2008 to March 2014,58 elderly patients with unstable intertrochanteric were treated with distal fixation prosthesis, among them, there were 15 males and 43 females aged from 75 to 87 years old with an average of 83.2 years old. Fracture were classified according to Evans classification, 39 cases were type I c and 19 cases were type I d. Surgical risk was evaluated before operation, 9 patients were performed total hip arthroplasty and 49 patients were performed prosthetic replacement hip joint function of patients with different age period, Evans classificaton, prothesis type, fixation method were evaluated respectively by using Harris score.
RESULTSFifty-six patients were followed up from 13 to 36 months with an average of 21.6 months. Harris score was 83.51 ± 6.40, 5 cases got excellent results, 38 cases good and 13 cases moderate. Harris score of patients aged from 75 to 80 years old was 88.64 ± 2.35, 81.64 ± 6.40 in patients aged more than 80 years old, and had significant differences between two groups; Harris score in patients with type Evans I c was 83.64 ± 6.53, and 83.11 ± 6.08 in type Evans I d, while there was no significant differences between two groups. There was no obvious meaning in Harris score between patients with tension band (83.63 ± 6.15) and without tension band (82.41 ± 6.57). There was no significant meaning in Harris score between patients with normal distal fixation prosthesis (83.34 ± 6.43) and femoral moment reconstruction distal fixation prosthesis (83.92 ± 6.51). There was 1 patient occurred hip joint dislocation on the operative side and re-dislocation after manual reduction, then received open reduction. Two patients occurred femoral osteolysis without clinical symptoms, and treated conservative treatment.
CONCLUSIONArtificial joint replacement for unstable intertrochanteric fractures in elderly patients, hip joint function in patients aged more than 80 years old is worse, while there was no obvious market effect in fracture classification, whether to use tension band and type of distal fixation prosthesis, moreover, proximal femoral osteolysis should be focused on.
