Objective To investigate the risk factors for postoperative anastomotic leakage in geriatric patients with esophageal carcinoma and provide new insights into clinical prevention and treatment.Method The fifty-six patients with anastomotic fistula were chosen from 636 esophageal carcinoma patients who underwent esophagectomy in Department of Thoracic Surgery from January 2011 to January 2016.In the 56 patients, the ratio of male (39 cases) to female (17 cases) was 2.3 ∶ 1.0,with the age range of 60-81 years, average of (66.4±8.6) years. The retrospective analysis was performed for obtaining the risk factors for anastomotic leakage. Results Fifty six cases who suffered from anastomotic fistula showed 10 cases (17.9%)with hormone administration,17 cases (30.4%) with preoperative chemo-radiotherapy,32 cases (57.1%) with the basic diseases,27 (48.2%) with preoperative dystrophia. In addition to the old age and tumor, the other risk factors for anastomotic leakage included the hormone use, preoperative malnutrition, and preoperative chemoradiotherapy. Conclusion High attentions have to be paid to the prevention and treatment of anastomotic fistula patients with chronic diseases, hormone use, preoperative malnutrition and preoperative chemo-radiotherapy.
2.Progress in the Studies of Biological Clocks Genes
Progress in Biochemistry and Biophysics 2001;28(2):181-183
Circadian rhythms describe biological phenomena that oscillate with an 24 hour cycle. These rhythms include blood pressure, body temperature, hormone level, the number of immune cells in blood, and the sleep-wake cycle. The aim is to introduce common genes between species that are responsible for determining the circadian behavior, especially some transcription factor s that serve to regulate many circadian rhythm genes. And the common molecular mechanism of biological clocks between fly and human will be in troduced.

Chinese Mental Health Journal 1991;0(05):-
Objective: To evaluate a self-rated health measurement scale-the revised version 1.0 (SRHMS V1.0).Method:2000 subjects, including university students, patients in the department of traditional medicine, patients with dermatosis and military retired cadre, received the assessment with SRHMS V1.0. Result: The test-retest reliability of the above four groups was 0.80-0.98. The Cronbach alpha was 0.93, equal-length Spearman-Brown was 0.74, Guttaman Split-half was 0.73. The correlation between each item and its dimension was high, that between item and other dimension was low; furthermore, the correlation between each dimension and the subscale it belong to was high, that between the dimension and other subscales was low. Factor analysis produced ten main factors that were consistent with the original theoretical structure about SRHMS V1.0. The correlation between total score of SRHMS and that of SF-36 was significant (r=0.53). People of different age group, of different marriage status, with different occupations or education background, of different economic class had different results in SRHMS V1.0, while there was no difference significantly between male and female, between with different races or residencies. Conclusion: SRHMS V1.0 has good psychometric quality and can be used in Chinese population.

Microbiology 1992;0(02):-
In this paper, a colorimetric method with high sensitivity, reproducibility and low cost for determining glutamate decarboxylase (GAD) activity was developed based on Berthelot reaction. The optimum substrate system is 0.2 mol/L MacIlvaine buffer pH4.7, containing 0.1 mmol/L pyridoxal phosphate (PLP) and 10 mmol/L L-monosodium glutamate (L-MSG). The reaction mixture consisted of 200 ?L substrate solution and 1~100 ?L enzyme preparation from lactic acid bacteria and was incubated at 30℃. The enzymatic reaction was terminated by immersion in ice-water and addition of 200 ?L 0.2 mol/L sodium borate buffer, pH9.0, then 1 mL 6% phenol solution and 400 ?L sodium hypochloride were added. Color development was carried out in boiling water for 10 min then immediately put in ice-water bath for 20 min. The optical density is read at 630 nm. ?-aminobutyric acid (GABA) produced was calculated using the standard curve. Applications of the method in GAD studies were discussed.

To explore the effect of tripterygium glycosides on the level of peripheral blood cell factors of Graves ophthalmopathy (GO). In the study, 64 patients of GO in moderate-severe acute stage were selected, and randomly divided into the treatment group (32 cases) and the control group (32 cases). Both of the two groups were provided with basic treatment. The control group was added with prednisone(0. 75 mg kg-1 d-1 ), which gradually reduced (by 5-10 mg week-1 )to the minimum dose of 5 mg d-1. The treatment group was treated with 20 mg tripterygium glycosides, three times a day. One therapy course is three months. The levels of peripheral blood cells(TNF-alpha , IL-2, IL-10, IFN-gamma)of the two groups before and after the treatment and the clinical efficacy were observed. The study indicated that, before the treatment, TNF-alpha, IL-2, IFN-gamma in both groups were significantly higher than that in the health group, but with IL-10 notably lower than the healthy group. After the treatment, TNF-a, IL-2, IFN-gamma in the treatment group significantly decreased, but with IL-10 significantly increasing (P <0. 01). After the treatment, the two groups showed significant difference (P <0. 01). The total clinical efficacy in the treatment group was 88. 10% , and that in the control group was 57. 14% (P <0. 01). After the treatment, the two groups showed significant changes in the exophthalmos degree (P < 0. 01). The results showed that the level of peripheral blood cells (TNF-alpha,IL-2, IL-10, IFN-gamma)of GO patients was positively correlated with the severity of ocular disease. The combined therapy of tripterygium glycosides and methimazole show such advantages as low side effect and high clin-
