Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 2010;29(3):280-285
Objective: To discuss the diagnostic value of the new 5-sector approach for orbital imaging division in the diagnosis of orbital space-occupying lesions. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical and imaging data of 374 patients with orbital space-occupying lesions. The distribution of the lesions was analyzed according to the new 5-sector approach for orbital imaging division (globe compartment, optic nerve compartment, intraconal compartment, extraconal compartment and extra-periosteum compartment) and the distribution rule of the lesions were discussed. Results: Hemangioma was the most common lesion among our group, with an incidence of 34.75%(130/374); 79.23% (103/130) of the hemangiomas were distributed in the intraconal compartment. There was a distributional difference between the lymphoma and inflammatory pseudotumor(χ 2 = 13. 63, P=0.001), with the former mainly located in the extraconal compartment and the latter often in the mixed compartments. We also found that there were distributional differences for those lesions which had more than 10 sufferers in our study(χ2= 788.058, P=0.001). Significant differences were also noted in the distribution of both benign and malignant lesions in the intraconal, extraconal and mixed type compartment(χintra/extra2=66.53, P<0.001;χintra/mixed2=88.17, P<0.001;χ extra/mixed2=5.078, P< 0.05). For the benign lesions, the incidence order was: the intraconal compartment (99.18%,121/122)> extraconal compartment (56.12%,78/139)> mixed type(36.96%, 17/46); for the malignant lesions, the incidence order was: mixed type(63. 04%,29/46)> extraconal compartment(43.88%,61/139)> intraconal compartment(0.82%,1/122). Conclusion: There are distributional differences in orbital space-occupying lesions under the new 5-sector approach for orbital imaging division, indicating that the new 5-sector approach is helpful in the diagnosis of orbital lesions.

Objective To synthesize glycylproline p-nitroanilide tosylate as a substrate for glycylprolyl dipeptidyl-aminopeptidase(GPDA),and to study its clinical application. Methods The title compound was prepared by DCC-HOBt synthesis.GPDA in human serum was detected by continuous monitoring method using substrate. Results The substrate with purity of 98.5% was obtained. The linearity of the method was up to 358.1 U/L.Intraassay CV and interassay CV of GPDA in diverse serum samples were 3.01% and 5.04%,respectively.It was shown that GPDA level in patients with hepatic cancer was significantly increased, while those in patients with gastric carcinoma and chronic gastritis were significantly decreased compared with that in the control group in clinical detecting(P

Baculoviral IAP(inhibitor of apoptosis protein) gene was identified firstly in IAP gene family. The structurcal feature of baculoviral IAP genes are characterized BIR and RING domain;Despite similar to P35 in antiapoptotic function, baculovrial IAP and P35 differ in structure and mechnism of action.Phylogenetic analysis of IAP genes and lots of evidence sppport the origin of this viral gene by capture of a host gene early in the evolution of Lepidoptera.

Clinical features and thyroid-stimulating antibody(TSAb)in 32 newly diagnosed patients with Graves' ophthalmopathy(GO)were compared with those in 27 Graves' disease(GD)patients without GO(as control group). All of the patients with GO received intravenous glucocorticoids. The level of serum TSAb in patients with GO was significantly higher than that in patients without GO.TSAb was also associated with the prognosis. It suggests that TSAb seems to be the most active component among the TSH receptor antibodies related to ophthalmopathy and may act as a predictive parameter.

Through scale-up cultivation of Eriobotrya japonica suspension cells using WAVE bioreactor, the cell growth and ursolic acid (UA) accumulation were studied. The comparison test was carried out in the flask and the reactor with cell dry weight (DW) and UA content as evaluation indexes. The culture medium, DW and UA content were compared in 1 L and 5 L working volumes of bioreactor. The orthogonal test with main actors of inoculation amount, speed and angle of rotation was developed to find the optimal combination, in 1 L working volume of bioreactor. DW of the cell growth and the UA content in bioreactor were higher than those of the shaker by 105.5% and 27.65% respectively. In bioreactor, the dynamic changes of elements in the fluid culture, the dry weight of the cell growth and the UA content in 1 L and 5 L working volumes were similar. Inoculation of 80 g, rotational speed of 26 r · min(-1), and angle of 6 ° was the optimal combination, and the cell biomass of 19.01 g · L(-1) and the UA content of 27.750 mg · g(-1) were achieved after 100 h cultivation in 1 L working volume of bioreactor. WAVE Bioreactor is more suitable than flasks for the E. japonica cell suspension culture, and culture parameters can be achieved from 1 L to 5 L amplification.

Objective To explore the nicotine dependence levels and the influencing factors of dependence among rural-to-urban migrant workers in Shanghai so as to provide scientific rationales for an effective implementation of tobacco control. Methods Multi-stage randomized sampling was used to select a total of 5 856 rural-to-urban migrant workers from 7 districts in Shanghai.Fagerstrom Test for Nicotine Dependence ( FTND) and logistic regression model were used to analyze the association between nicotine dependence and relevant risk factors. Results The current smoking prevalence was 23.7%.The average FTND score for current smokers , high dependence and low dependence were 3.38 ±2.49, 7.00 ±1.07 and 2.23 ±1.71 respectively. The high and low dependence rates were 21.7% and 78.3%.The results of logistic regression showed that education , duration of smoking and length of migration were associated with nicotine dependence.Lower level of education was more prone to high nicotine dependence. Those with a lower education had a higher risk of nicotine dependence ( junior high school: OR=1.742, primary school or lower: OR =1.994 vs.senior high school or higher ).High nicotine dependence increased with the duration of smoking (smoking 6-10 years:OR=3.007, 11-15 years:OR=4.076, 16-20 years:OR=5.451, 20 years or more:OR=5.726 vs.5 years or less).Length of migration over 3 years was less likely to have a high nicotine dependence (3-5 years: OR=0.602, more than 5 years: OR=0.407 vs.<1 year) .Conclusion The rate of high nicotine dependence is high among rural-to-urban migrant workers in Shanghai.Level of education , duration of smoking and length of migration are significant influencing factors of nicotine dependence.

OBJECTIVE:
To observe the expression of discs large homolog 4 (DLG4) protein in hippocampus, amygdala and frontal cortex of rats and evaluate postsynaptic density in heroin dependence.
METHODS:
The rat heroin dependent model was established by increasing intraperitoneal injection of heroin. DLG4 proteins in hippocampus, amygdala and frontal cortex of heroin dependent 9, 18, 36 days rats were detected with immunohistochemical staining and compared with that in the control group.
RESULTS:
DLG4 proteins in hippocampus, amygdala and frontal cortex were gradually reduced with extension of heroin dependent time.
CONCLUSION
Heroin dependence can affect postsynaptic density of hippocampus, amygdala and frontal cortex. The changes become more apparent with extension of heroin dependence time.
