Objective To evaluate and analyze the postoperative complications induced from the procedure for prolapse and hemorrhoids(PPH).Methods The data of the third or fourth degree hemorrhoids operated by pro- cedure for prolapse and hemorrhoids were analyzed. Results Total 224 patients with hemorrhoids were operated on by PPH,and the mean operative time was 25 minutes and mean postoperative hospital stay were 3.5 days.Postoper- ative bleeding requiring haemostatic procedures occurred in two patients.Urine retention rate was 30.36%,there were 56 eases pain scores>5,there of re-prolapse,16 cases of residual skin tags. One case of mucocele. Conclusion The rule of PPH is individual management.

Chinese Journal of Plastic Surgery 2006;22(6):430-433
OBJECTIVETo study the template design of tissue flaps for covering auricular cage in order to acquire accurate and reliable design method.
METHODSBy the theory of engineering drawing and three-dimensional measuring on CT image, three dimensional configuration of 40 auricular surfaces were expanded approximately, and the character of them was analysed for the template design.
RESULTSIt is similar of the expanded graphs of auricular surface three dimensional configuration in healthy persons, and simplified template of tissue flaps is drawn based on the key points of the above graph.
CONCLUSIONSCT three-dimensional measurement of auricular surface configuration can be used to design the template of tissue flaps for covering auricular cage, and can provide accurate and reliable template of tissue flaps for clinics.

From June 2007 to June 2009, 133 patients underwent esophageal resection, among them 64 cases received esophageal reconstruction with narrow gastric tube (NGT) and 69 received esophageal reconstruction with whole stomach (WS).The postoperative quality of life (QOL) in 6 months of both groups was investigated. The study found that there were 3 cases in WS group having leakage, while no one in NGT group, the weight loss, regurgitation and chest-stomach syndrome in NGT group were superior to those in WS group, there were no statistical differences in activities of daily life, emotional functions, food intake, dysphagia between two groups. The study indicates that the quality of life in NGT group is superior to that in WS group.

Objective:To observe the inhibitory effect on ?-glucosidase of 10 kinds Chinese herbs and to screen the Chinese herbal medicines which have great inhibitory effect on ?-glycosidase.Methods:The ?-glucosidase was extracted from small intestine of rat.The amount of glucose was measured with produced from substrate of malt sugar. The inhibitory effect of 10 kinds of Chinese herbs on ?-glucosidase was observed by this enzyme reaction system. Then disposable gastric perfused malt sugar(2 g/kg) and the extraction screened at the same time, detected the levels of blood glucose after 60 min.The positive control group is acarbose(ACAR) group. Results:The three kinds Chinese herbs(Chishao,Shanzhuyu and Sangbaipi) showed very good inhibitory activities, and they showed obviously concentration-effect curve relationship.Among them, the inhibitary activity of Sangbaipi is stronger than Chishao and Shanzhuyu. While the dose of Sangbaipi reached 10mg/mL,the inhibition rate arrived 80%,which effect was equivalet to the dose of 1mg/ml acarbose. The results of postprandial blood glucose in vitro showed us:Sangbaipi,Chishao and Shanzhuyu can inhibit postprandial blood glucose levels in rats that have been disposable gastric perfused malt sugar after 60min(P0.05).Conclusion:The three kinds of Chinese herbs(Chishao,Shanzhuyu and Sangbaipi) can inhibit ?-glucosidase activity obviously in both vitro and vivo.

Objective To investigate the imaging findings of pelvic lipomatosis in 4 cases with clinical correlation. Methods The imaging data of 4 cases with pelvic lipomatosis proved clinically and pathologically were retrospectively analyzed.CT scan, intravenous urography(IVU)or cystography were performed in all cases.MRI was done in one case, barium enema in one case and urinary cystoscopy in 3 cases. Results Hyperlucent areas in the pelvis("transparent pelvis"sign)were demonstrated on plain X-ray film,CT,IVU and barium enema studies.IVU showed bilateral hydronephrosis, stenosis of lower segment of ureter and dilatation of proximal ureter. The bladder was elevated, simulating an inverted pear. Barium enema study revealed that the rectum and the sigmoid colon were pushed laterally and upwards. Three cases had associated with cystitis cystica by pathology. Conclusion The imaging findings of pelvic lipomatosis, together with clinical information, are helpful to establish the diagnosis.

OBJECTIVETo analyze the clinicopathological features and prognosis of colorectal cancer patients with preoperative cancer-related anemia.
METHODSClinical data of 354 patients with colorectal cancer in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical College from January 2003 to July 2009 were analyzed retrospectively. Those with hemoglobin(Hb)<120 g/L before surgery were defined as cancer-related anemia.
RESULTSOf the 354 colorectal cancer cases, 195 were males and 159 were females. The median age was 65(range 22-92) years. Preoperative cancer-related anemia tended to be occurred in female(P<0.01) and those with preoperative albumin ≤35 g/L (P<0.01), right colon cancer(P<0.01) and full-thickness invasion(P<0.05). Cox regression analysis showed preoperative cancer-related anemia was an independent unfavorable factor for overall survival (HR=1.60, 95% CI:1.05-2.44; P<0.05), but not for disease-free survival (HR=1.43, 95% CI:0.97-2.12; P>0.05) in colorectal cancer.
CONCLUSIONSPreoperative cancer-related anemia plays an important role in the development and prognosis of colorectal cancer and great attention should be paid to clinical practice.
