Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2020;18(3):191-196
Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture plus subtle adjustment manipulation of the cervical spine for peripheral facial paralysis. Methods: A total of 60 patients with peripheral facial paralysis who met the screening criteria were selected and divided into two groups according to the method of random number table, with 30 cases in each group. The patients in the acupuncture plus tuina group received routine treatment of acupuncture and subtle adjustment manipulation of the cervical spine, while the patients in the acupuncture group only received the same acupuncture treatment. Assessment of peripheral facial paralysis with integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine was adopted for rehabilitation assessment. Results: The total effective rate of the acupuncture plus tuina group was 93.3%, while that of the acupuncture group was 70.0%, and there was a significant between-group difference (P<0.05). After treatment, the total scores of rehabilitation assessment in both groups were significantly higher than those before treatment (both P<0.05), and the score of the acupuncture plus tuina group was significantly higher than that of the acupuncture group (P<0.05). Conclusion: The treatment of acupuncture plus subtle adjustment manipulation of the cervical spine can improve the function of facial muscles in patients with peripheral facial paralysis, and its clinical efficacy is better than that of the acupuncture treatment alone.

Journal of Forensic Medicine 2015;31(2):102-104
OBJECTIVE:
To observe the characteristics of vertical cast-off bloodstain pattern by different hitting-tools.
METHODS:
The regular hitting tools, a kitchen knife, a dirk, a plane set-hammer and an iron pipe, were selected. At a distance of 30 cm away from the wall, the hitting tool with 5 mL fresh chicken blood made the cast-off bloodstain from top to bottom. Then the holistic distribution characteristics (length, width and density) of cast-off bloodstain and morphology characteristics (length, width and contact angle) of first single cast-off bloodstain were analyzed.
RESULTS:
The distribution length of cast-off bloodstain formed by dirk was minimum (P < 0.05). The distribution width of cast-off bloodstain formed by kitchen knife was minimum (P < 0.05). Except the pair of kitchen knife and plane set-hammer, the distribution density between each two tools had statistical differences (P < 0.05). The length of first single cast-off bloodstain formed by plane set-hammer was longest compared (P < 0.05). The width of first single cast-off bloodstain had statistical differences between kitchen knife and plane set-hammer, and between dirk and plane set-hammer (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSION
The type of hitting tool could be inferred by the specific characteristics of cast-off bloodstain pattern formed by every specific type of hitting tool in crime scene.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2009;13(39):7651-7656
BACKGROUND: Traditional scaphotrapeziotrapezoid limited intercarpal arthrodesis contains Kirschner wire, U-shaped nail, AO/ASIF steel plate and so on. Long-term plaster external fixation was needed following surgery. USA-designed arthrodesis apparatus is mainly suitable for European and people from USA, but not fit for Asian.OBJECTIVE: To simulate scaphotrapeziotrapezoid limited intercarpal arthrodesis, and to test the stability of the novel arthrodesis apparatus developed by the group according to anatomic form of dorsal joint fovea of Chinese scaphotrapeziotrapezoid.DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: The observational study was performed at the Laboratory of Biomechanics of the Department of Orthopaedics, Nantong University from April 2006 to March 2007.MATERIALS: A total of 40 fresh forearm samples of corpses that were not subjected to antiseptic treatment were used for this study. Radiograph verified that these samples did not develop wrist joint affection or abnormal alinement.METHODS: The cadaver models were imitated limited intercarpal instability before scaphotrapeziotrapezoid arthrodesis used circular plate. Then, simulated flexion 50°, extenion 35°, ulnar deviation 30°, radial deviation 10° ultimate activities (50000).CT scan and 3-D reconstruction should be taken before and after motion.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The index of the radial-scapho angle (RSA), radial-scapho distance (RSD), scapho length(SL), trapezium-trapezoid inclination (TTI), trapezium-trapezoid width (TTW) were measured.RESULTS: Prior to motion RSA, RSD, SL, TTW and TTI were (38.725±2.230) °, (18.988±1.216) mm, (1.686±0.191) cm,(27.360±1.571) mm and (114.975±2.293) °. Following motion RSA, RSD, SL, TTW and TTI were (38.800±2.388) °,(19.215±1.443) mm, (1.683±0.209) cm, (27.718±1.910) mm, (115.300±3.023) °. No significant difference in above-described indexes was determined before and after motion (P > 0.05).CONCLUSION: The novel STT limited intercarpal arthrodesis apparatus shows confidential stability. Thus, wrist joint can do exercises in an early stage at the range of 35 dorsal extension, 50 palmar flexion, 10 radial deviation and 30 ulnar deviation.

BACKGROUND:Clinical infusion of hematopoietic stem cells and mesenchymal stem cells for treatment of aplastic anemia has been reported. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of human adipose-derived mesenchymal stems cells on the secretion function of T lymphocytes of aplastic anemia patients. METHODS:Human adipose-derived mesenchymal stems cells were extracted from healthy human adipose tissues. T-lymphocytes were harvested from peripheral blood of patients with aplastic anemia by density gradient centrifugation. Human adipose-derived mesenchymal stems cells were co-cultured with T-lymphocytes. The levels of interleukin-2, interleukin-4, interleukin-10 and interferon-γwere detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. T-bet and GATA-3 levels were examined by real-time PCR and western blot. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The levels of Th1 type cytokines interferon-γand interleukin-2 in the co-culture group were significantly lower than those in the T-lymphocyte group (P<0.05). But the levels of Th2 type cytokines interleukin-4 and interleukin-10 in the co-culture group were significantly higher than those in the T-lymphocyte group (P<0.05). The T-bet mRNA and protein levels in the co-culture group were significantly lower than those in the T-lymphocyte group, while the GATA-3 mRNA and protein levels were significantly higher in the co-culture group. Human adipose-derived mesenchymal stems cells can mediate an immunoregulation effect on T-lymphocytes of aplastic anemia patients in vitro, which is possibly related with the inhibition of Th1-dominant response due to the disorder of T-bet and GATA-3 gene expression.
