Objective To study the effect of lower limb muscle strength on balance. Methods One hun- dred eighty elderly subjects were divided into six groups by sex and muscle strength level. There were low, moderate and high muscle strength groups for males and females. The static standing balance of these subjects was performed u- sing a PH-A computerized stabilometer with their eyes open and closed.Sway index, covered area,rectangle-area, length and length/area of the destabilizing locui were assessed. Results When standing with the eyes either open or closed, sagittal and lateral sway index, covered area and rectangle-area were significantly larger in the lowest mus- cle strength groups when compared with the others.Length/area was also significantly less. There was no significant difference between the moderate muscle strength group and the highest strength group. Conclusion Lower limb strength affects balance.

Objective To report 11 cases with the tissue defects of their upper or lower limbs repaired with the anastomsed medial sural artery perforator flaps. Methods The free medial sural artery perforator flaps, with length of 8 cm to 15 cm and width of 6 cm to 14 cm were used for tissue defect reconstruction of the distal upper or lower limbs in 11 cases, including 6 females and 5 males. The flap was harvested from the ho- mo-lateral calf, confined between the posterior-medial edge of the tibia and the middle line of the calf and a- bove the distal half part of the medial sural muscle, with a same axis of this muscle. Results Ten cases survived very well, which was relatively thin, and the donor site can be acceptable. One case resulted in a complete flap necrotized and covered with a split skin graft. No obvious motor function defect was observed of the donor leg. Conclusion The anastomsed medial sural artery perforator flap is alternative donor flap for the upper or lower limb tissue defect repair, especially for the defect in the hand or foot.

Journal of China Pharmaceutical University 2010;41(2):175-179
A double antibody sandwich ELISA for quantitative analysis of recombinant fusion protein IL-2-HSA was constructed using a polyclonal antibody to human IL-2 for capture and a monoclonal antibody to HSA with HRP-labeled conjugate for detection. The optimal concentration of the first coating antibody and detection antibody were 2 μg/mL and 0.5 μg/mL,respectively.Regression equation of the linear calibration curve was:y = 0.442 9 x-1.143 3 with a correlation coefficient of 0.996 6,and the linear detection ranged from 39.06 ng/mL to 1 250 ng/mL.Recovery from the supernatant of fermentation broth was 98.13% to 102.94%.The specificity assay indicated that it had little cross-reactions with IL-2 and HSA.The soundness analysis suggested that fermentation broth, mouse serum and dilution had no influence on the method. The present method can be used in the studies on fermentation, purification and clinical diagnosis.

The effects of ultrafine grinding on the dissolution rates of the effective components in Sanjie Zhentong capsule (SZC) were studied in this experiment. Fine and ultrafine powder of SZC intermediates were made by ordinary grinding and ultrafine grinding technology, and then granulated by wet granulation. SZC were prepared by fine powder, ultrafine powder and ultrafine granules, respectively. With resveratrol and loureirin B as investigated indexes, dissolution rates of the four intermediates in SZC were determined by cup method and HPLC. The dissolution rates of resveratrol in SZC prepared by fine powder, ultrafine powder and ultrafine granules were 26.11%, 63.27%, 67.49%, respectively; and the dissolution rates of loureirin B were 7.160%, 20.29%, 23.05%, respectively. The dissolution rate of resveratrol and loureirin B in SZC prepared by ultrafine granules was the best. D90 size of ultrafine grinding was 13.221 μm and could improve the dissolution rates of resveratrol and loureirin B in SZC.

Objective:To discuss the effect ofChinese herbal medicine ofremoving toxic and blood stasis and nourishing yin on lymphocyte apoptosis in spleen ofMRL/lpr mouse and expression ofCyt-C and Bcl-2.Methods:50 2-month-old male MRL/lpr mouse and 10 2-month-old male C57BL/6 mouse were randomly divided into six groups:high, middle and low dosage groups, pre-treatment group, model group and control group. After 30days treatment, the lymphocyte apoptosis in spleen oflupus mouse and expression ofCyt-C mRNA and Bcl-2 mRNA were detected. Results:The percentages oflymphocyte apoptosis in model group were(57.18?1.72)% lower than that in normal group(78.99?3.76)%(P

Objective The application of intraoperative evoked EMG monitoring during lumbar pedicle screw fixation and to find new stimulus threshold criterion. Methods The validity of the evoked EMG monitoring in detecting the malposition of the pedicle screws was tested again by animal experiment.Nineteen patients was inserted pedicle screws with persistent evoked EMG monitoring via tap stimulator, and the electric current was set at 30% of bone threshold of the same pedicle, all patients were ohecked by CT scan to prove the outcome. Results Thirty-two pedicles of six dogs were inserted Kirchner wires. The stimulate thresholds of mal-position wires had significant difference with those of normal-position wires.During clinical trial,122 screws were inserted in to nineteen patients.Four screws were positive during intraoperative evoked EMG monitoring.Of which one screw was confirmed as mal-position during operation and was then adjusted;another screw was found to be mal-positioned by CT scan post-operation;the other two screws were found normal by CT scan. The sensitivity of this technique was 100% and the specificity was 98%.Conclusion Intraoperative evoked EMG monitoring during lumbar pedicle screw fixation can detect the mal-positioned screws and to protect the nerve roots. The stimulate current may set at 30% of the bone threshold of the relevant pedicle.

This study was to investigate the chemical constituents of the aerial part of Zygophyllumfabago, by phytochemical methods. The compounds were isolated by silica gel and Sephadex LH-20 column chromatographies from the EtOAc extract. Their structures were characterized by various spectroscopic data (1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, MS) and comparison with the literature. As a result, thirteen compounds were isolated and their structures were identified as 1-hydroxyhinesol(1), hinesol(2), atractylenolactam(3), beta-eudesmol (4), 5alpha-hydroperoxy-beta-eudesmol(5), 12-hydroxy-valenc-1(10)-en-2-one(6), pubinernoid A(7), (6S,7E)-6-hydroxy-4,7-megastigmadien-3,9-dione(8), 3-hydroxy-5alpha, 6alpha-epoxy-beta-ionone (9), (3S,5R, 6S, 7E)-3, 5, 6-trihydroxy-7-megastigmen-9-one(10), (6R,7E,9R)-9-hydroxy-4,7-megastigmadien-3-one(11), (S)-3-hydroxy-beta-ionone(12), and blumenol A(13). Compounds 1-7 were sesquiterpenoids and 8-13 were megastigmane type norsesquiterpenoids. All the compounds were obtained from Z. fabago for the first time, and compound 1 was a new natural product.
