Objective To investigate the variation of serum Thymidine Kinase 1(TK1) in patients with non‐small cell lung canc‐er(NSCLC) and its clinical value .Methods Serum TK1 level of 129 patients with NSCLC and 90 healthy volunteers were measured by sensitive chemiluminescence dot‐blot assay .The serum TK1 level variation of 76 patients with NSCLC were compared before and after operation .Results Serum TK1 level of NSCLC patients were significantly higher than the level of healthy control group(P<0 .05) .Serum TK1 level in Stage Ⅲ >Stage Ⅳ >Stage Ⅰ + Ⅱ >Stage Tis ,comparison between each other was of statistical differ‐ence(P<0 .05) .The serum TK1 level of NSCLC patients at 30th day after surgery was remarkably lower than which before surger‐y(P=0 .001 ,P<0 .01) .The serum TKl level was correlated with lymphatic metastasis(P<0 .01) ,but not with other factors such as pathology types ,age ,sex and smoking .The serum TK1 measurement was high sensitivity and specificity to the diagnosis of NSCLC .Conclusion The serum TK1 level detection has important clinical significance in diagnosis and evaluation of NSCLC pa‐tients .

Objective To investigate the distribution of vancomycin-resistant genes and virulence genes in vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE) isolates from intensive care unit (ICU).Methods A total of 180 anal swabs were collected from patients in ICU in Tianjin Medical University General Hospital during September 2012 and May 2013.VRE strains were screened by ChromID agar method.Vitek 2 Compact system was used in drug sensitivity test, and the sensitivities to vancomycin and teicoplanin were further determined using Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method.Vancomycin resistant genes vanA,vanB,vanC1 and virulence genes esp,hyl were detected by polymerase chain reaction(PCR).Results Nineteen strains of vancomycin resistant Enterococcusfaecium were isolated from 180 anal swabs. All 19 VRE isolates were resistant to both vancomycin and teicoplanin, while they were susceptible to linezolid and tigecycline. All VRE isolates carried vanA and esp genes, and hyl gene was positive in 10 isolates. Conclusions VRE isolates from ICU are highly resistant to commonly used antibacterial agents, and most isolates carry vancomycin-resistant genes and virulence genes.Linezolid and tigecycline may be recommended for VRE infection in ICU.

OBJECTIVETo introduce an arthroscopic technique in managing recurrent dislocation of the patella and its clinical results.
METHODSSixteen patients with recurrent patellar dislocation were reviewed, including 3 males and 13 females. The average age was 17.6 years old (ranged from 14 to 32 years). The patients suffering from patellar sub-luxation averaged 18.5 months (ranged from 6 to 23 months)before operation. These patients were treated with lateral patellar retinacular release outside the synovial bursa of knee joint and medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction using the semitendinosus tendon free autograft. The Lyshohm scores before and after operation were used to evaluate outcomes at the final follow-up.
RESULTSAll the patients were followed up, and the duration ranged from 6 to 48 months, with an average of 12 months. There was no recurrence. The Q angle decreased from (16.4 ± 3.7)° to (10.1 ± 1.4)°; insall index decreased from 1.37 ± 0.25 to 1.28 ± 0.23; congruence angle decreased from (21.3 ± 2.6)° to (5.86 ± 2.23)°; Lysholm score improved from 76.1 ± 5.2 to 89.8 ± 4.1 at 6 months after operation.
CONCLUSIONCompared with conventional procedure, arthroscopic surgery for recurrent dislocation of the patella achieves excellent outcomes with minimum invasion.

Objective To discuss clinical effects and indications of minimally invasive tension band technique in treatment of transverse patella fractures. Methods Thirty-eight patients with transverse patella fracture (close or slightly polluted open ones) were treated with minimally invasive tension band technique from July 1997 to June 2005 in our department.Twenty-six were fixated with percutaneous Kirschner wire tension hand and 12 with percutaneous cannulated screw tension band. The reduction, movement range and function of the knee were analyzed. Results Surgeries went on uneventfully. All the cases were followed up from six months to 6.5 years (average,32 months).Fracture healing time lasted from 6 to 12 weeks, averaging 7.7 weeks. No such compli- cations as traumatic arthritis occurred.Reduction was excellent in 21 cases, good in 11 and fair in six, with the good-to-excellent rate being 84.2%.All the affected knee joints could move in normal range. The functional re- covery was assessed as excellent in 34 cases and good in four. Conclusions Internal fixation with minimally invasive tension band technique is good for treatment of transverse patella fractures. It is chiefly fit for close or slightly polluted open fractures with limited wound, and can also be used for the comminuted fractures if the bone fragments are no more than three and the fracture site is suitable.

Alzheimer disease (AD) is a common neurodegenerative disease. Drosophila has been regard as one of the ideal models for Alzheimer because of its unique advantage on genetic manipulation. AD transgenic drosophila models not only help to elucidate the pathogenesis of Alzheimer disease, but also provide potential screening models for drugs to treat the disease. In this review, we summarize the recent research progress using AD transgenic drosophila.

Objective To analyze the efficacy and safety of losartan in the treatment of massive proteinuria in kidney transplant recipients. Methods All of the 82 patients were randomized in two groups:losartan group and control group(amlodipine group). Both of the groups were divided into two different subsets according to blood pressure control Twenty-four-hour proteinuria, serum creatinine, blood pressure and adverse effects were observed. Results Losartan and amlodipine had the similar effects on blood pressure control The 24-h proteinuria in losartan group at the end of the study was significantly lower than that at the baseline, and there was significant difference between the losartan blood pressure control subset and the losartan blood pressure un-control subseL The effective rate and significant effective rate in losartan group for massive proteinuria were higher than in control group. Conclusion T Losartan can be effectively and safely used for the treatment of massive proteinuria in renal transplant recipients independent of blood pressure.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the relationship between alcohol consumption and risk factors for cardiovascular disease.
METHODSTwo hundreds and twenty six subjects were enrolled in the study and grouped to non-drinkers, mild drinkers, moderate drinkers and heavy drinkers. Serum GGT, hs-CRP, %CDT, HCY, lipoprotein were measured in all groups.
RESULTThere were significantly higher GGT levels with heavy drinkers than those with other groups (P <0.05), and GGT levels were increased with increasing alcohol intake; and there were significantly higher %CDT levels with heavy drinkers compared with those with no-drinkers; there was significant higher hs-CRP levels with heavy drinkers compared with those with mild and moderate drinkers (P<0.05); but in moderate drinkers there was significantly lower hs-CRP levels than non drinkers (P<0.05). Compared with non-drinkers, there were significantly lower LDL-C and TG levels with mild and moderate drinkers. There were no significant differences in CHOL, HDL-C, HCY, WBC, MCV levels among all groups. Heavy drinkers had higher smoking rate and higher prevalence of hypertension (P <0.05).
CONCLUSIONHeavy alcohol consumption results in increasing GGT,%CDT and hs-CRP and may increase cardiovascular disease risk along with other risk factors.Mild to moderate alcohol consumption is associated with lower hs-CRP concentration, which may protect the cardiovascular system through anti-inflammatory mechanism.
