Chinese Journal of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine 2014;34(4):439-441
OBJECTIVETo observe the clinical effect of Lingtong Capsule (LC) in treating primary dysmenorrhea (PD).
METHODSTotally 59 PD patients took LC, while 59 patients in the placebo group took placebo capsule, two pills immediately when they felt dysmenorrhea. Their pain levels were quantitatively classified. The pain score was assessed at an interval of 30 min using visual analogue scale/score (VAS) while taking medicine and within two h after taking medicine. It was assessed as effective when the pain level was reduced by more than or equal to 50% within 2 h.
RESULTSThe total effective rate was 69.49% (41/ 59) in the LC group and 20.34% (12/59) in the placebo group (P < 0.01). The analgesia effect was obviously superior in the LC group 60 min after taking medicine (P < 0.01). LC showed better effect in treating mild, moderate, and severe PD (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONLC showed obvious analgesia effect on PD.

AIM: To study the visual quality, dry eye and biomechanical stability of patients with myopia and astigmatism after different corneal refractive surgeries. ·METHODS: A total of 986 patients with myopia and astigmatism were selected as the research object in our hospital from July 2015 to July 2016, according to the operation mode of the selection of the research object, the 986 patients were randomly divided into small incision lenticule extraction ( SMILE) group, femtosecond laser in situ keratomileusis ( FS-LASIK ) group, sub-bowman-keratomileusis ( SBK ) group and laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis ( LASIK ) group. The postoperative visual quality was determined by comparing the diopter, uncorrected visual acuity ( UCVA ) , best corrected visual acuity ( BCVA) and high-order image difference of 25d, 90d. The postoperative dry eye condition was determined by comparing the postoperative tear secretion test ( Schirmer Ⅰ test ) , tear film rupture time ( BUT ) and fluorescence staining ( FS) . The biomechanical stability of the patients was determined by comparing the corneal hysteresis ( CH ) and corneal resistance factor ( CRF ) values of the four groups. ·RESULTS: The diopter, UCVA, BCVA and high-order aberration comparison of FS-LASIK group, SBK group and LASIK group between before and after surgery, showed no significant difference ( P>0. 05 ); on diopter, BCVA, UCVA, there was no significant difference between before and after surgery in SMILE group (P>0. 05), but statistical significance difference on high order aberration (P<0. 05). The BUT and FS value of the four groups decreased obviously after operation, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0. 05). In LASIK group SIt after operation significantly decreased, with statistically significant compared with that before operation ( P <0. 05). After operation, CH and CRF of the four groups decreased with significant differences (P<0. 05). ·CONCLUSION: SMILE, FS-LASIK, SBK and LASIK are equally safe, effective and stable in the treatment of myopia and astigmatism.

BACKGROUND: In recent years, nanoparticles has been rapidly developing in tumor hyperthermia, genophore research, and targeted drug therapy, particularly nanoparticle containing drug delivery systems will become another breach in tumor therapy.OBJECTIVE: To summarize the application and mechanism of superparamagnetic nanoparticles for cancer treatment in the medical field.METHODS: A computer-based online search was conducted in Medline for English language publications containing the key words of "superparamagnetic, nanoparticles, targeting" from January 2000 to October 2009. Relevant articles were also searched from CNKI with the same key words in Chinese from January 2005 to October 2009.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: A total of 123 articles about targeting role of magnetic nanoparticles were included, and there were 24 in Chinese and 108 in English. Articles published earlier, duplicated, and similarly were excluded, and 30 references were finally included. Superparamagnetic nanoparticles characterized by targeting role under external magnetic field, and crystal of ferroso-ferric oxide did not has toxicity to cells. As a gene carrier and drug carrier, superparamagnetic nanoparticles were widely used in medical research and they also provided novel evidences for cancer treatment. By an external magnetic field, how to avoid a comprehensive system of phagocytic endothelial phagocytosis and prevent the course of treatment such as drug-induced thrombus is still inadequate.

BACKGROUND: Studies regarding synthesizing composite bone repair materials with organic macromolecules as mineralizers template are the hot research spot. However, reports concerning using agar as bone repair materials are few. OBJECTIVE: To synthesize a novel agar-hydroxyapatite composite material, and to evaluate its physical and chemical properties as well as cytocompatibility.METHODS: ①A certain amount of the non-nano-hydroxyapatite in hydrochloric acid solution was added into a certain amount of agar sol, and the reaction system was adjusted with PH value of 7-8. And then the precipitate was lyophilized to obtain the composite of agar-hydroxyapatite.②The third generation of rat bone marrow stromal cell (BMSC) was co-cultured with agar-hydroxyapatite. And the growth of cells was observed at days 1, 3 and 5 after culture. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The results of X-ray diffraction patterns, Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR), thermal analyzer, transmission electron microscope, and scanning electron microscope showed that agar could manipulate the growth of hydroxyapatite, and hydroxyapatite nanocrystals was equably formed on the agar-fibers with high porosity. The BMSC grew well in the composite and form a clear cytoskeletal at days 3 and 5 after culture. The results reveal that agar-hydroxyapatite composite has good physical and chemical properties and cytocompatibility.

OBJECTIVE:To observe the effectiveness and safety of liraglutide combined with insulin and glipizide in the treat-ment of subclinical hypothyroidism(SCH)complicated with type 2 diabetes in the elderly patients. METHODS:Totally 82 elderly patients with SCH complicated with type 2 diabetes were selected from our hospital during Dec. 2013-Dec. 2015,and then divided into trial group(40 cases)and control group(42 cases)according to random number table. Control group was given Insulin in-jection+Glipizide tablets. Trial group was additionally given Liraglutide injection 0.6 mg,sc,qd,on the basis of control group. Treatment courses of 2 groups lasted for 12 weeks. The levels of blood glucose [fasting glucose, postprandial 1 h and 2 h glucose, mean of daily differences(MODD),mean amplitude of glycemic excursions(MAGE)],glycosylated hemoglo-bin,body weight, total cholesterol, blood pressure [systolic blood pressure(SBP),diastolic blood pressure(DBP)],thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH)and homeostasis model assessment(HOMA-B)were observed in 2 groups before and after treat-ment. The occurrence of ADR was recorded. RESULTS:Totally 4 patients of control group withdrew from the study, and no one withdrew from the study in trial group. Before treatment, there was no statistical significance in the levels of blood glu-cose,glycosylated hemoglobin, body weight, total cholesterol, blood pressure,TSH and HOMA-B (P>0.05). After treat-ment,body weight and total cholesterol level of trial groups were significantly decreased and lower than those of control group, with statistical significance (P<0.05). The levels of blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin, blood pressure (SBP, DBP)and TSH in 2 groups were decreased significantly, while HOMA-B levels were increased significantly, and trial group was significantly better than control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05). There was no statistical significance in the incidence of ADR between trial group (12.5%) and control group (19.0%)(P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS:Liraglutide com-bined with insulin and glipizide for elderly patients with SCH complicated with type 2 diabetes can effectively reduce blood glucose level, keep blood glucose stable, control the increase of body weight and improve islet B cell function with good safety.
