China Oncology 1998;0(04):-
Background and qurpose:Docetaxel is one of the most effective chemotherapeutic agents developed in the past few years and has been used for the treatment of various cancers including lung cancer. Drug resistance to docetaxel is one of the main factors accounting for the failure of chemotherapy. This study was done to establish a human lung adenocarcinoma cell line SPC-A1 with the characterization of docetaxel resistance, to investigate its biological mechanism of drug resistance and how to reverse the resistance. Methods:A docetaxel resistant human lung adenocarcinoma cell line SPC-A1/Docetaxel was induced by continuously exposing human lung adenocarcinoma cell line SPC-A1 to gradually increasing doses of docetaxel. The multidrug resistance of SPC-A1/Docetaxel was evaluated by MTT assay. The distribution of cell cycle and rhodamine 123 accumulation in the two cell lines were detected by flow cytometry. Growth fraction was calculated by cytometry, and differentiation of genetics between drug resistance cell line and its parent cell line was analyzed by karyotype analysis. Results:Index number of drug resistance (IR) of SPC-A1/Docetaxel were 13.20, 2.18,1.12,1.39,1.38,0.93, 10.14 and 2.12 to docetaxel, paclitaxel, pharmorubicin, cisplatin, carboplatin, gemzar, vinorelbine and etoposide , respectively. Flow cytometry analysis showed G1/G0 arrest in SPC-A1/Docetaxel cell lines and there was no difference in terms of G2 cell proportion between SPC-A1/Docetaxel and SPC-A1 cell lines. Rhodamine concentration in SPC-A1/Docetaxel cells were markedly lower than that in SPC-A1 cells(806.34?0.49 Vs. 1382.26?0.32). Cell doubling time of SPC-A1/Docetaxel cells and SPC-A1 cells were 35.1 and 27.4 hours, respectively, with no difference in terms of genetics between the two cell lines. Conclusions:The SPC-A1/Docetaxel cell line showed high resistance to docetaxel, and had the characteristic of multidrug resistance. The cell line could be useful for the study of drug resistant mechanism and its reversal of docetaxel.

Objective To investigate the fluctuation of the iodine deficiency disorders(IDD) through continuous monitoring on it. Methods During 2005-2008, 10 monitoring countis (city, district) of IDD were selected in Jiangxi Province. Five townships were selected in each monitoring county, one school was selected in each townships, and 40 students in 8-10 years old from each school were selected to inspect their thyroid glands and determined the idodine content of salts from their home. Among the 40 students, 20 of which were selected to determine the intelligence quotient(IQ) and 6 of which were selected to determine urine iodine. Thirty pregnant women were also selected to determine the urine iodine in each monitoring county. Twenty students of 5th grade in each school and 5 housewives living nearby the school were selected to carry out the questionnaire survey of health education about IDD. Results Monitoring results showed the average goiter rote of 8-10 years old students was between 2.00% and 4.60% during 2005-2008. The rate of IQ of the students higher than 90 was all above 76% each year. The median of urine iodine of students and pregnant women was higher than 100 μg/L, and the proportion of people whose urine iodine content was lower than 50 μg/L was below 4% each year. The rate of inhabitant taking qualified idodine salt wasn't lower than 95%. The pass rate of the questionnaire survey of health education about IDD was between 11.67% and 43.50% in students and 92.50%-99.60% in housewives. Conclusions The situation of iodine deficiency in Jiangxi Province has been greatly improved, reaching the standard of eliminating IDD.

AIM:
To investigate the different effects of salvianolic acid and notoginseng triterpenes on proliferation, angiogenesis and expression of vascular endothelial growth factor in EA-hy926 cells in vitro.
METHODS:
EA-hy926 cells were cultured in vitro. Salvianolic acid and notoginseng triterpenes at concentrations of 0.4, 0.8 and 1.2 mg·L(-1) were used to culture EA-hy926 cells. EA-hy926 cells in a blank control group were grown in culture solution only. Viability of cells was assessed by CCK-8, and after treated for 12 h, capillary-like structures were examined. After 24 h culture, the expression of VEGF was detected by real-time PCR.
RESULTS:
Salvianolic acid at 0.4, 0.8 mg·L(-1), the same as notoginseng triterpenes, increased VEGF content in EA-hy926 cells. Expression of VEGF protein in the salvianolic acid at 1.2 mg·L(-1) group, was up-regulated as compared with notoginseng triterpenes group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSION
Salvianolic acid and notoginseng triterpenes can promote EA-hy926 cell proliferation, angiogenesis and expression of VEGF protein. This analysis also provided evidence that salvianolic acid had the better effects as compared with notoginseng triterpenes.

China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2015;40(3):430-436
The difference between three representative components of total salvianolic acids in pharmacodynamic activity were compared by three different pharmacological experiments: HUVECs oxidative damage experiment, 4 items of blood coagulation in vitro experiment in rabbits and experimental myocardial ischemia in rats. And the effects of contribution rate of each component were calculated by multi index comprehensive evaluation method based on CRITIC weights. The contribution rates of salvianolic acid B, rosmarinic acid and Danshensu were 28.85%, 30.11%, 41.04%. Apparent oil/water partition coefficient of each representative components of total salvianolic acids in n-octyl alcohol-buffer was tested and the total salvianolic acid components were characterized based on a combination of the approach of self-defined weighting coefficient with effects of contribution rate. Apparent oil/water partition coefficient of total salvianolic acids was 0.32, 1.06, 0.89, 0.98, 0.90, 0.13, 0.02, 0.20, 0.56 when in octanol-water/pH 1.2 dilute hydrochloric acid solution/ pH 2.0, 2.5, 5.0, 5.8, 6.8, 7.4, 7.8 phosphate buffer solution. It provides a certain reference for the characterization of components.

OBJECTIVETo analyze effects of fracture of processus styloideus ulnae on prognosis in the treatment of distal radial fracture of type C according to AO classification.
METHODSThis was a retrospective case-control study, and the information was got ten through case evaluation and follow-up, including sex, age, patient satisfaction, Gartland & Werley score and radiographic score. There were 76 patient treated with open reduction and plate fixation in People's Hospital Affiliated to Peking University from July 2006 to July 2011. All the patients were divided into two groups: no combination with fracture of processus styloideus ulnae (group A, 56 cases), combination with fracture of processus styloideus ulnae (group B, 20 cases). The patients in group A and B were treated with open reduction and internal fixation; however the fracture of processus styloideus ulnae was not fixed. The indexes such as clinical data, bone grafting, joint movement, Gartland & Werley score and radiographic score were compared between two groups.
RESULTSThe ulnaris pain of patients in group B was more obvious than that in group A. The local VAS, palmar and dorsal flexion degree of wrist joint, motion VAS, patients satisfaction score, radial and ulnar deviation degree, pronation and supination of forearm degree, Gartland & Werley score and radiographic score were separately 0.1 ± 0.1, (51.1 ± 1.9)°, (60.2 ± 1.9)°, 0.6 ± 0.1 (23.1 ± 0.9)°, (28.7 ± 1.3)° (81.5 ± 2.6)°, (68.2 ± 2.7)° 1.9 ± 0.3, 89.6 ± 12.3 in group A; and separately 0.3 ± 0.3, (51.4 ± 2.3)°, (66.6 ± 1.7)°, 0.5 ± 0.2, (24.5 ± 2.0)°, (26.9 ± 1.8)°, (80.3 ± 2.5)°, (70.3 ± 3.7)°, 1.2 ± 0.4, 92.5 ± 7.5 in group B; there were no statistical differences in above indexes between two groups.
CONCLUSIONWhether the distal radial fracture with a concomitant unrepaired ulnar styloid fracture or not exerts no influence on mainly outcomes including function, radiography and motion of the wrist.
