2.Discussion of treating insomnia at selected time
China Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy 2006;0(09):-
Insomnia is a commen disease which disturbs life of modern persons terribly. As usual, insomnia means the subjective experience the short time of sleep and poor sleep quality which will influence the normal activity in the day-time.Here are the manifestations of insomnia:tired, dizziness, headache, tinnitus, palpitation, not concentration, poor efficiency etc.In this article, through the study on traditional twelve two-hour thery, the author connects the theory to the real reasons of insomnia and finds out the suitable time for patients to take the medicine to get twice the power with half the effort.

BACKGROUNDTo summarize the preliminary experience on Iressa for refractory non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
METHODSFifty-five patients with NSCLC, who failed after surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy or combination of the above modalities, were registered in this clinical trail. Prior to Iressa, 50 patients were in stage IV, and 5 in stage III. Iressa was administered orally at 250 mg, once a day until cancer progressed or severe toxicity occured, which made patients intolerable. The median time for administration of Iressa was 4 months.
RESULTSThe toxicity of Iressa was tolerable with 47% of skin toxicity (rash) and 2%-7% of diarrhea, nausea, orally mucosal ulceration and alopecia. Overall response rate was 20%. Different sites of distant metastases responded to Iressa in different ways with higher response rate for pulmonary disseminations. One quarter of patients felt improvement of their symptoms over 2 weeks. Median survival time for entire group was 5 months (1-17 months). Median time to progression (TTP) was 3.6 months. Survival at 6 months was 67%. Prognostic predictor, which could imply the outcome, was skin toxicity with higher response rate and longer survival time ( P < 0.05), and no relationship with sex, histological types of NSCLC and distant metastasis had been found.
CONCLUSIONSIressa could be tolerated by refractory NSCLC patients with acceptable side-effects, and have palliative effects.

Objective To investigate the possible associations of two polymorphisms (5-HTTLPR and STin2VNTR)of the serotonin transporter gene with alcohol use disorders (AUD).Methods 281 AUD cases (AUDIT score≥ 10) and 277 healthy controls (AUDIT score ≤5) were recruited in this study. All participants were genotyped using the PCR technique. Results The frequency of the L-allele of the 5-HTTLPR was 39.01%,and the 10-allele of STin2VNTR was 8.42% in this population, the allele frequencies of both polymorphisms were consistent with Asian normal populations. No significant association was observed between 5-HTTLPR and AUD,but the genotypic and allele frequencies of the STin2VNTR were significant different between two groups even after Bonferroni adjustment, the 12 repeat allele of the STin2VNTR was significantly associated with the risk effect for AUD.Haplotype analysis for those two polymorphisms revealed no association between 4 haplotype combinations and AUD.Conclusion There is no relationship between 5-HTTLPR and AUD.The STin2VNTR polymorphism of 5-HTT may play a role in the pathogenesis of AUD.

International Journal of Stem Cells 2023;16(2):180-190
Background and Objectives:
Regenerative endodontic procedures (REPs) are a research hotspot in the endodontic field. One of the biggest problems of REPs is that it is difficult to realize regeneration of pulp-dentin complex and functional reconstruction. The reason is still not clear. We hypothesize that the migration may be different in different dental stem cells. Periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) may migrate faster than stem cells of apical papilla (SCAPs), differentiating into cementum-like tissue, bone-like tissue and periodontal ligament-like tissue and, finally affecting the outcomes of REPs. Hence, this study aimed to explore the mechanism that regulates the migration of PDLSCs.
Methods:
and Results: After isolating and culturing PDLSCs and SCAPs from human third molars, we compared the migration of PDLSCs and SCAPs. Then we investigated the role of SDF-1α-CXCR4/CXCR7 axis in PDLSC migration. We further investigated the impact of Porphyromonas gingivalis (P. gingivalis) lipopolysaccharide (LPS) on PDLSC migration and the potential mechanism. PDLSCs showed better migration under both noninflammatory and inflammatory conditions than SCAPs. SDF-1α can promote the migration of PDLSCs by elevating the expression of CXCR4 and CXCR7, increasing the interaction between them, promoting expression of β-arrestin1 and activating the ERK signaling pathway. P. gingivalis LPS can promote the migration of PDLSCs toward SDF-1α through increasing the expression of CXCR4 via the NF-κB signaling pathway, promoting the expression of β-arrestin1, and activating the ERK signaling pathway.
Conclusions
This study helped elucidate the potential reason for the difficulty in forming pulp-dentin complex.

ObjectiveTo explore the exposure-lag-response relationship between temperature and risk of varicella incidence, and to provide a scientific evidence for early warning and precise prevention and control of varicella epidemic. MethodsDaily varicella cases and daily meteorological data were collected in Minhang District, Shanghai from 2010 to 2022. A distributed lag nonlinear model was used to determine the exposure-lag-response relationship between temperature and risk of varicella incidence. Furthermore, effect of temperature on the incidence risk was determined across different age groups. ResultsIn 2010‒2022, the total number of notified varicella cases was 26 207 in Minhang District, with the highest incidence in the group aged 3‒14 years (50.35%). The seasonal pattern of daily varicella cases showed a double peak. The large peak was found in November and December, followed by a smaller peak in May and June. Moreover, the distributed lag nonlinear model showed a unimodal curve in the relationship between temperature and varicella incidence. The RR value reached its maximum peak of 1.90 (95%CI: 1.25‒2.87) at 7 ℃. A reverse U-shape was found in the lag-response curves between temperature and varicella incidence. Furthermore, the effect of temperature on the varicella incidence showed a unimodal pattern in the varicella cases aged 3‒14 years. The RR value reached its peak at 11 ℃ (RR=2.89, 95%CI: 1.33‒6.24). In contrast, the effect of temperature on the varicella incidence in the cases aged 15 years and above showed a unimodal pattern, with RR value reaching the peak at 5 ℃ (RR=2.14, 95%CI: 1.33‒3.44). ConclusionThe unimodal curve is found in the relationship between temperature and varicella incidence. Low temperature is associated with increased risk of varicella incidence. Children aged 3‒14 years are more susceptible to the effect of temperature on the varicella incidence.
