Journal of Integrative Medicine 2004;2(3):199-202
OBJECTIVE: To study the influence of single leaf Asarum himalaicum on the renal function of rabbits. METHODS: Rabbits were divided into three groups. Asarum himalaicum, Asarum heterotropoides and normal saline were intravenously administered to the rabbits of one group respectively. The urine volume per minute, urine pH, urine glucose, protein and red blood cells, BUN, SCr, TXB2, 6-keto-PGF1alpha, TXB2/6-keto-PGF1alpha, endothelin, p-aminohippuric acid clearance rate and phenolsulfonphthalein excretion rate were tested before and after the administration. RESULTS: A certain dosage of single leaf Asarum himalaicum caused acute renal failure in rabbits. The indices tested were significantly different between rabbits administered Asarum himalaicum and normal saline. As compared with the rabbits administered Asarum heterotropoides, the results of indices tested decreased, but without statistical significance, except for SCr. CONCLUSION: The single leaf Asarum himalaicum can cause renal damage to rabbits. Its renal toxicity is lower that that of Asarum heterotropoides.

Objective To investigate the correlation between pathologic features and contrast?enhanced ultrasound in patients with breast ductal papilloma. Methods From January 2014 to January 2016,80 patients with breast intraductal tumor treated in our hospital were selected, including 20 cases of breast ductal carcinoma (ductal carcinoma group) and 60 cases of benign tumor (benign group). Both groups received conventional ultrasound, ultrasonic angiography, and pathological feature analysis. Results Breast surrounding hyperecho, internal micro calcification, border edge burr and posterior echo attenuation were more frequently seen onconventional ultrasound in ductal carcinoma groupthan inbenign group(P<0.05). The average scores of contrast?enhanced ultrasound were significantly higher in ductal carcinoma group than in the control group(P<0.05). In the ductal carcinoma group, there were statistical significant differences betweenpatientswith different lymph node metastasis dukes staging ,and differentiation types (P < 0.05). Spearman rank correlation coefficient analysis showed that breast intraductal carcinoma lymph node metastasis and dukes staging, differentiation types were markedly correlated with pathological features and ultrasound imaging (r=0.341,0.368,and-0.289;P<0.05). Conclusions Conventional ultrasound and contrast?enhanced ultrasound have very good imaging featuresin the diagnosis of breast intraductal cancer ,and there is correlation between pathologic features and contrast?enhanced ultrasound in patients with breast ductal papilloma, which can provide values for early diagnosis of breast ductal carcinoma.

China Oncology 2016;26(10):848-853
Background and purpose:Estrogen receptor (ER)-positive breast cancer always presents a dilemma for resistance to endocrine therapy in a long time. The recent studies showed that the expression of estrogen-responsive ifnger protein (Efp) and polo-like kinase 3 (Plk3) had a close relationship with breast cancer development. This study was to explore the expression correlation between Efp and Plk3 in ER-positive breast cancer in order to understand the inlfuence of Efp and Plk3 on the drug resistance. Methods:The expression of Efp and Plk3 in 74 cases of ER-positive breast cancer was detected by SP immunohistochemistry. The clinical signiifcance was then analyzed. Real-time lfuorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RTFQ-PCR) and Western blot were used to detect the expression of Efp and Plk3 in ER-positive MCF-7 cells. Results:No signiifcant relationship was found between Efp and Plk3 expression and the clinicopathological features of 74 cases of ER-positive breast cancer (P>0.05). The number of cases whose Efp showed positive expression was 51 (68.9%), while the number of cases whose Plk3 showed positive expression was 23 (31.1%). Chi-square test analysis showed the expression of Efp and Plk3 was negatively correlated in 74 cases of ER-positive breast cancer (χ2=8.837,P<0.05). The result of RTFQ-PCR showed that the expression of Efp mRNA in MCF-7 cells was up-regulated by estrogen stimulation, whereas Plk3 mRNA was not changed. The result of Western blot showed that the expression of Efp protein in MCF-7 cells was increased by estrogen and MG132 stimulation, whereas Plk3 protein was decreased. Conclusion:The expression of the Efp protein is negatively correlated with Plk3 protein in ER-positive breast cancer. High expression of Efp may be involved in the resistance to endocrine therapy.

China Oncology 2015;(9):665-670
Background and purpose:Cytokine-induced killer (CIK) has both the advantages of T lympho-cytes’ powerful anti-tumor activity and NK cells’ tumor killing capacity without MHC restriction. It could directly kill tumor cells, regulate and enhance immune function, without damaging the structure and functions of the immune sys-tem. Its effects on the treatment of malignant solid tumors has been widely recognized. This study aimed to evaluate the anti-proliferation effects of CIK cells obtained and cultivated from lung cancer patients’ lymph nodes. Meanwhile, the safety of clinical transfusion was observed. Methods:The peripheral blood and lymph nodes of 6 surgery patients with lung cancer from Shanghai Chest Hospital were used to cultivate CIK cells for 14 days. The phenotypes of CIK cells were detected by lfow cytometry. The anti-proliferation activities of CIK cells on A549 lung cancer cells were detected by CCK8 assay. The morphological changes of CIK cells were observed by invert microscope. The expression of CEA level and adverse events were evaluated after CIK transfusion. Results:The proportion of CD3+CD56+T lymphocyte in two groups were both more than 30%. The CCK8 assay showed that the suppression rate of lymph nodes group was higher than that of peripheral blood group at each effect/target ratio(P<0.05). The adverse effect of CIK transfusion was mild and tolerable. The expression of CEA level decreased in patients. Conclusion:Lymph nodes of surgery patients with lung cancer can be used for cultivation of CIK cells. The anti-tumor activity of CIK isolated from lymph nodes is better than that of CIK cells cultivated from peripheral blood. Preclinical experiments showed high safety.
