Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of acupoint thread embedding on the peripheral serum leptin and insulin levels in simple obesity patients, and to further explore the mechanism of acupoint thread embedding in treating simple obesity.Method A total of 120 patients with simple obesity were randomized into a control group, an eletroacupuncture (EA) group and a thread embedding group, 40 cases in each group. The control group was intervened by diet plus exercise intervention, the EA group by EA treatment in addition to the intervention given to the control group and the thread embedding group by acupoint thread embedding treatment in addition to the intervention given to the control group. The levels of blood serum leptin and insulin in the three groups were observed before and after 2 treatment courses and the clinical efficacies were compared among the three groups.Result The total effective rate was 87.5% in the thread embedding group, 85.0% in the EA group, and 47.5% in the control group. The total effective rates in the thread embedding group and EA group were significantly different from the rate in the control group (P<0.05). The levels of the fasting serum leptin and insulin were significantly changed in the thread embedding group and EA group after the treatment (P<0.01). After the treatment, the levels of the fasting serum leptin and insulin in the thread embedding group and EA group were significantly different from those in the control group (P<0.01,P<0.05). The insulin level in the thread embedding group was better than that in the EA group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion Acupoint thread embedding is an effective approach for simple obesity, and it can down-regulate the fasting peripheral serum leptin and insulin levels.

Objective:The main objective of this study is to analyze the development trend of China's private healthcare providers since the issue of Document No. 58 by the General Office of the State Council in the year 2010. It intends to evaluate the effectiveness of the policy on encouragement and guidance to private healthcare. Methods:(1) Using the statistical data collected from national and provincial healthcare yearbook, we made a comparative a-nalysis on seven indicators regarding the development of private healthcare providers, including the number of health-care providers, the number of beds, the number of healthcare professionals, annual outpatient diagnose-and-treat per-son-times, annual inpatient hospitalization person-times, bed utilization rate and average length of stay for two periods of time (i. e. 2006—2010 and 2011—2015). (2) A field study was conducted to six selected provinces. In these provinces, essential information of the related policy was collected, held stakeholder interviews and focus group dis-cussions among hospital management team and medical workers and visits to several typical private providers were made to understand the policy effectiveness and existing problems. The study also tried to find the key factors for a successful private healthcare provider in China. Results:(1) The results show that since the issue of Document No. 58 in the year 2010 , the number of China's private healthcare providers has greatly increased while the scale and service capabilities of private providers still need to be improved. (2) As per the results again, a great difference ex-ists between provinces in terms of private healthcare provider development during 2010 to 2015 . Conclusion:A posi-tive impact of government regulation on the development of private healthcare providers was noticed. However, China's private healthcare providers are still facing many invisible obstacles and challenges. The government needs to put more focus on building a cross-department coordination and supporting regulation system to advance the sustain-able development of private healthcare providers. Moreover, the government needs to cautiously promote the Public-Private-Partnership ( PPP) to improve the effective allocation of resources in the healthcare market and provide essen-tial support to private healthcare providers in solving the problems they meet during their development process.

BACKGROUND:To repair and reconstruct the joint capsule and surrounding ligaments is one of effective methods against displacement and dislocation after total hip arthroplasty. In recent years, anterolateral total hip arthroplasty has been widely used, but little is reported on the anatomic features of the anterolateral hip joint capsule and iliofemoral ligament. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the anatomic features of the anterolateral hip joint capsule and iliofemoral ligaments, thereby providing anatomic evidence for selecting and optimizing the approach for total hip arthroplasty and for clinical practice. METHODS:Thirty adult cadaver hips fixed with formalin were used for this study. The anterolateral hip joint capsule and the iliofemoral ligaments were dissected and anterolateral hip joint capsules were divided into three sections and nine parts. The average thickness of each part and the average height and width of each section were measured. The anterolateral hip joint capsule was observed by its beginning and ending, course, branch and histological features. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The anterolateral hip joint capsule was tightly connected with the iliofemoral ligaments to form a complex. The thickness of the capsule was varied. The thinnest parts of the complex were BI and BII. In addition, the average height and width of each section were different. The joint capsule originating from the anterior inferior iliac spine and acetabulum was divided into three branches and fixed on the intertrochanteric line. Understanding of the anterolateral hip joint capsule and iliofemoral ligaments may make for the approach selection, design and optimization of total hip arthroplasty.

OBJECTIVE:To study the anti-oxidative effects of spirulina kinase (SPK) in vitro. METHODS:The methods of phenanthroine-Fe2+ oxidation method,DPPH and auto-oxidation of pyrogallol were used to measure the effects of different concen-trations of SPK on scavenging hydroxyl (OH-) free radical,DPPH free radical and superoxide anion (O2-) free radical;IC50 of SPK was calculated. Prussian blue reaction was used to determine total reducing ability(by absorbance)of different concentrations of SPK to Fe3+. Vitamin C(VC)was used as positive control in above trials. RESULTS:SPK could eliminate the OH-free radical, DPPH free radical and O2- free radical in concentration-dependant manner, and the maximum elimination rate of SPK to OH- free radical and DPPH free radical were 86.82% and 78.98%(IC50 were 54.31,0.636 g/L),which were higher than VC (64.77%, 73.49%). The maximum elimination rate of SPK to O2- free radical was 78.31%(IC50 was 3.918 g/L),which was lower than VC (94.14%). In reducing ability test,SPK improved absorbance in reducing ability test system, and maximum absorbance was simi-lar to VC in concentration-dependant manner. CONCLUSIONS:SPK has obvious anti-oxidant activities in vitro.

BACKGROUND: Previous studies have verified that under normal culture of neural stem cells (NSCs), folic acid can accelerate proliferation of NSCs by phosphorylation of mitogen activated protein kinase path activation ERK1/2. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of folic acid on NSC extracellular signal regulatory protein kinase pERK1/2 under hypoxic condition. METHODS: NSCs from Neonatal rats were cultured in vitro by serum-free culture method, and incubated in a flask at 1×10~8/L. Except normal control group, self-made hypoxia equipment was used in the hypoxia model, folic acid deficiency and folic acid supplemented groups at day 3. At 37 ℃, hypoxia culture was conducted in the thermostat for 6 hours. The contents of folic acid were 4 mg/L, 4 mg/L, 0.65 mg/L, 8 mg/L in the four groups. Cells following 6 days were collected to count the density using trypan blue. RT-PCR was utilized to detect pERK1/2 mRNA expression. Western blot assay was employed to determine pERK1/2 protein expression. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Compared with the normal control group, the proliferation of NSCs and the expression of ERK1/2mRNA and pERK1/2 protein were decreased significantly in the hypoxia model group. Compared with the hypoxia model group, the proliferation of NSCs and the expression of ERK1/2mRNA and pERK1/2 protein were increased in the folic acid supplemented group, whereas decreased in the folic acid deficiency group. There were significant differences among groups (P < 0.001). Above-described results verified that folic acid supplementation can activate ERK1/2 phosphorylatin and accelerate proliferation of NSCs under hypoxia condition.

The BALB/c mice were immunized with rMS-Sj26GST and rBCG-Sj26GST vaccine in Schistosoma japonicum by subcutaneous injection. After they were immunized for 8 weeks, the eyeballs were removed to get blood and macrophages of abdominal cavity and spleen cells were harvested. The lymphocytic stimulating index (SI) was used to measure the cellular proliferating ability and NO release was used to measure the phagocytic activity of the macrophages. By using ELISA kit, the levels of interleukin-2 (IL-2) and interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) in serum and the splenic lymphocytic cultured supernatant were detected. The results showed that after the mice were immunized with 10(6) CFU of rMS-Sj26GST and rBCG-Sj26GST vaccine separately by subcutaneous injection, proliferating ability of splenic lymphocytes in the mice showed no difference (P > 0.05), but both were significantly increased as compared with that in the control group (P < 0.05); The contents of NO in the intraperitoneal macrophages of rMS-Sj26GST vaccine group were significantly lower than in the control group (P < 0.001) and rBCG-Sj26GST vaccine group (P < 0.01); The levels of serum IL-2 in the rMS-Sj26GST vaccine group were significantly increased as compared with that in the control group (P < 0.001), vector group (P < 0.01) and rBCG-Sj26GST vaccine group (P < 0.05); The contents of serum IFN-gamma in the rMS-Sj26GST vaccine group were significantly increased as compared with that in the control group (P < 0.01) and rBCG-Sj26GST vaccine group (P < 0.05), The contents of IFN-gamma in the cultured supernatant were significantly lower than those of rBCG-Sj26GST vaccine group (P < 0.001), but were significantly increased as compared with that in the control group (P < 0.01). It was indicated that both vaccines could enhance the immune response of the mice, but rMS-Sj26GST vaccine had stronger immunogenicity than rBCG-Sj26GST vaccine.
