Objective To explore the protective effect of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) on diabetic myocardium and anoxic pre-conditioning (AP).Methods Eight-week-- old male Sprague-Dawley rats were given with a single intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (STZ) (60 mg/kg)to induce diabetes mellitus (DM).Donor rats were 8-week-old male Sprague - Dawley rats. Before transplantation,MSC were incubated in CM-DiI at a concentration of 2 μg/mL for 20 min.AP-MSC were exposed to 3 hours of anoxia. At 4 months after STZ injection, diabetic rats were randomly given with an intramyocardial injection of one of the followings:150 μL of Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium ( DMEM),5 ×106 MSC/150 μL,or 5 × 106 AP - MSC/150 μL (n =10 for each group).Three months after STZ injection and 2 weeks after transplantation,we evaluated the cardiac function by echocardiography, and also evaluated the cardiac conditions by alkaline phosphatase staining, western blot analysis for apoptosis related proteins and signal pathways. Results MSC,especially AP- MSC increased fractional shortening (FS) of diabetic heart (P <0.01 vs DMEM respectively).AP-MSC greatly increased the capillary density of diabetic myocardium (P <0.01 vs DMEM and MSC group respectively).AP-MSC are anti-apoptotic in the rat DCM model, possibly mediated through cardiac upregulation of Bcl-2/Bax ratio ( P < 0.05 ) and inhibiting the expression and activation of caspase - 3 ( P < 0.01 ).Conclusions Intramyocardial transplantation of APMSC has a protective effect on diabetic cardiomyopathy.

The system applies H.264 compression coding technology and uses TCP/IP protocol to transmit data. It transfers the video information, cardio-spectrograms, blood oxygen and blood pressure spectrum to the medical area and the visiting area for families that outside of ICU intensively. The patients' information is transmitted to the medical staffs intensively, then making the relevant backups, so people can avoid many potential medical disputes.

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of Hazard analysis and critical control point (HACCP) system in the process of production of Loratadine tablets. METHODS:Taking wet granulation and tableting technology of Lorata-dine tablets as an example, and through the introduction of the concept of HACCP,the basic theory and method of HACCP were applied for hazard analysis on each production link to find critical control points and set critical limits for production quality man-agement. RESULTS:By HACCP analysis, three links namely drying, granules fitting and mixing, internal and external packaging were finally determined as the critical control points in the process of production of Loratadine tablets, thereby critical control lim-its were set for monitoring. After effective control over the risks in the process was ensured,HACCP work plan was made and veri-fied,and the results showed that HACCP system could effectively control and reduce the risks in the process of production and en-sure quality safety. CONCLUSIONS:Application of HACCP system to wet granulation and tableting technology of Loratadine tab-lets can fully embody its feasibility and effectiveness.

AIM:This study was performed to investigate the feasibility and efficiency of exogenous mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs) transplantation on post-infarction ventricular remodeling and heart function in rats and compare the effects between adult rat MSCs and neonate rat MSCs transplantation.METHODS:1-2 hours after left coronary artery ligation,MSCs cultured in ex vivo, marked with BrdU,were injected directly into the border of infarcts in exogenous rats.6 weeks after transplantation, rat' heart function, ventricular remodeling and pathological results were measured.RESULTS:MSCs transplantation decreased LV end-diastolic diameter and end-systolic diameter, limited LV chamber dilatation and reduced collagen content significantly. The numbers of blood vessels and cardiomyocytes were increased.BrdU-labelled MSCs with oval nucleus were widely distributed. There were no significant difference between adult rat MSCs and neonate rat MSCs transplanted groups.CONCLUSION:MSCs can survive and home in exogenous host infarct hearts without addition of any immunosuppressant.MSCs transplantation has benificial effects on remodeling processes and contributes to improvement of cardiac function, which may be related with the reduction of the amount of the collagen, promotion of myogenesis and angiogenesis.

It has been widely verified by various sorting methods that cancer stem cells (CSCs) exist in different types of tumor cells or tissues. However, due to lack of specific stem cell surface markers, CSCs are very difficult to be separated from some cancer cells, which becomes the key barrier of functional studies of CSCs. The sorting method by side population cells (SP) lays a solid foundation for in-depth and comprehensive study of CSCs. To identify the existence of SP in prostate cancer cell lines, we applied flow cytometry sorting by SP to cultures of prostate cancer cell lines (TSU, LnCap, and PC-3), and the cancer stem-like characteristics of SP were verified through experiments in vitro and in vivo. The proportion of SP in TSU cells was calculated to be 1.60%±0.40% [Formula: see text], and that in PC-3 and LnCap cells was calculated to be 0.80%±0.05% and 0.60%±0.20%, respectively. The colony formation assay demonstrated that the colony formation rate of SP to non-SP sorted from TSU via flow cytometry was 0.495±0.038 to 0.177±0.029 in 500 cells, 0.505±0.026 to 0.169±0.024 in 250 cells, and 0.088±0.016 to 0.043±0.012 in 125 cells respectively. In the in vivo experiments, tumors were observed in all the mice on the 10th day after injecting 50 000 cells subcutaneously in SP group, whereas when 5×10(6) cells were injected in non-SP group, tumors were developed in only 4 out of 8 mice until the 3rd week before the end of the experiment. Our results revealed that prostate cancer cells contain a small subset of cells, called SP, possessing much greater capacity of colony formation and tumorigenic potential than non-SP. These suggest that SP in prostate cancer cells may play a key role in the self-renewal and proliferation, and have the characteristics of cancer stem-like cells. Dissecting these features will provide a new understanding of the function of prostate CSCs in tumorigenicity and transformation.

G mutation of SLC26A4, the parents and the second child were carriers of the same mutation, while the fetus had a wild-type form. Conclusion It is feasible to identify deafness related genes by screening for GJB2 and SLC26A4 mutation, thus providing correct prenatal diagnosis and avoiding deaf delivery of baby.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2019;40(2):198-201
Objective:
To understand current situation of the awareness of tobacco hazards among middle school personnel in Shanghai and to explore its influencing factors, and to provide reference for making targeted measures to control tobacco hazards in schools.
Methods:
A total of 30 middle schools in Shanghai were selected by stratified cluster sampling method. The questionnaires were used to investigate the smoking prevalence and tobacco hazard awareness of 3 007 faculty members.
Results:
The total smoking rate of school personnel in Shanghai was 8.25%; the complete correct rate on the harm of smoking and second-hand smoke was only 19.72% and 23.74%, respectively. The correct awareness rate of harm caused by tobacco, such as stroke, osteoporosis and heart disease, was less than 50%. Gender, education level, smoking behavior and tobacco control training were related with tobacco hazards perception level.
Conclusion
The smoking rate among middle school personnel in Shanghai has been generally improved, but the faculty and staff have an unbalanced understanding of tobacco hazards. The school's tobacco control education should be targeted. Smoking, men and personnel with relatively low education levels are the key groups in school tobacco control education.
