Objective To study the effects of postoperative immune-enhancing enteral nutrition (IEEN)on the liver function and postoperative infectious complications after hepatectomy in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma.Methods Between January 2010 and December 2011,96 patients undergoing hepatectomy for hepatocellular carcinoma were randomized in a double-blind manner to receive postoperative enteral nutrition with IEEN (IEEN group,n =48) or standard enteral nutrition (control group,n =48) for 5 days,respectively.Calorie and nitrogen of the same quantity were provided for both groups from the first day after surgery.The liver function tests and routine blood tests were performed.The postoperative hospital stay and postoperative infectious complications were also compared between these two groups.Results The serum albumin,prealbumin,alanine aminotransferase,and total bilirubin levels had no significant differences between the two groups (all P ＞ 0.05).On the 6th day after operation,the level of total lymphocyte count was significantly higher in the IEEN group than that in the control group [(2106 ± 1057) vs.(1648 ± 1079) / μL,P =0.038).The postoperative hospital stay was (10.3 ±5.6) days in the IEEN group and (13.4 ±6.7) days in the control group (P =0.016).Postoperative infectious complications were observed in 8 (16.7％) patients in the IEEN group and 17 (35.4％) patients in the control group (P =0.036).Conclusion Early postoperative IEEN can improve the clinical outcomes of liver cancer patients after hepatectomy.

Objective To evaluate the feasibility and therapeutic effect of kyphoplasty in treating severe osteoporotic vertebral compressive fractures. Methods Thirty-five patients (48 vertebral bodies) with severe osteoporotic compressive fractures were included. There were 33 females and 2 males with the mean age of 74.2 years. The average compressive rate of the affected vertebral bodies was 77.0%. The thoracolumbar vertebrae were treated with kyphoplasties. Percutaneous puncture direction was adjusted according to compressive rate and shape of the vertebral bodies. The inflatable bone tamp was inserted into the fractured vertebral body. The balloon was inflated with low pressure and dilate-relieve-dilate method was applied. The balloon was deflated and withdrawn, leaving a cavity within the vertebral body, which then fulfilled with visualized bone cement. Preoperative and postoperative symptom level, complications and radiographic findings were recorded. Results All 35 patients tolerated procedure well. The mean heights of the anterior, mid and posterior vertebral body had improved from (0.8±0.1) cm, (0.8±0.2) cm, (2.1 ±0.8) cm preoperatively to (1.2±0.3) cm, (1.3±0.2) cm, (2.3±1.0) cm respectively after operation (P ＜0.05). There was significance difference between preoperative and postoperative heights of the anterior and mid vertebral body. The mean kyphosis was improved from 28.2°±5.2° before operation to 19.1°±4.9° after operation. Conclusion Kyphoplasty is feasible and effective for severe osteoporotic vertebral compressive fractures.

Field avian infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) designated as JS/9 5/03, which was isolated from Jiangsu province of china, was cultivated in chicken emb ryo. It's single strain RNA was extracted from purified virus and worked as temp late of reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), a pair of pri mer designed according to megalign results of published IBV sequences in Genbank was used to amplify the neucleocapsid gene, the RT-PCR product was sequenced d irectly. Sequence analysis revealed that the sequence of JS/95/03 is most homolo gized with that of M41 strain.

Objective To study the clinical effect of the BacFuse for the lumbar disc herniation(LDH) and to discuss the affect for symptom of patients and structure of spine.Methods Collected the patients suffered from LDH retrospectively who had been implanted the BacFuse.There were 25 patients (29 surgical levels) included in the study.The clinical and X-ray assessment have been done on preoperation,postoperation,3 month,6 month and 12 month.Clinical index used visual analogue scale (VAS) score,oswestry disability index (ODI) score and Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) score assessed clinical symptom and physical function.The intervertebral angle,posterior disk height and foraminal height were measured in X-ray.The patients were taken CT at preoperation and postoperation.The area and distance of herniated disc were measured in CT scan.Results In the aspect of clinical effect,25 cases were finished operation successly.The VAS score decreased from (6.61±1.29) points on preoperation to (2.78±1.00) points on the last follow-up,the ODI score decreased from (31.9±8.3) points to (15.9±6.4) points,the JOA score increased from (9.6± 3.0) points to (18.8± 3.2) points.In the aspect of spine structure,the intervertebral angle decreased from 10.1°±5.4° on preoperation to 8.4°±4.9° on the last follow-up,the posterior disk height increased from (0.65±0.29) cm on preoperation to (0.78±0.27) cm on the last follow-up and the foraminal height increased from (2.01±0.35) cm on preoperation to (2.16±0.37)cm.There was significant difference on posterior disk height and foraminal height between preoperation and postoperation,while the posterior disk height lost (0.07±0.12) cm (9.3％) and foraminal height lost (0.06±0.19) cm (2.7％).The CT showed that area of herniated disc decreased from (4.10±0.78) mm to (3.72±0.66) mm (9.3％) and distance of herniated disc decreased from (96.4±37.8) mm2 to (83.8±31.1) mm2 (7.4％).Conclusion BacFuse can relieve symptom and affect the biomechanics of the spine,makes the herniated disc retract partially,playing a Internal Retractor role in spine,and it is a new effective therapy for LDH.

ObjectiveTo study the effects of placental transfusion of umbilical cord milking on very low birth weight (VLBW) infants. Methods Fifty-seven VLBW infants born from September 2011 to May 2014 who had umbilical cord milking at birth were selected as experimental group. Sixty-one VLBW infants born from January 2008 to August 2011 who had normal cord clamping at birth were selected as control group. The complications of VLBW infants, blood transfusion, frequency of using pulmonary surfactant (PS), the duration of mechanical ventilation, the duration of oxygen and mortality were compared between two groups.Results The incidence of severe asphyxia, IVH and anemia was signiifcantly lower in experimental group than in control group (P< 0.05). The blood transfusion and transfusion volume, duration of mechanical ventilation, and duration of oxy-gen were signiifcantly lower in experimental group than in control group (P< 0.05).Conclusions Umbilical cord milking can reduce the incidence of severe asphyxia, IVH and anemia. It also can reduce the blood transfusion, the duration of mechanical ventilation, and the duration of oxygen in VLBW infants.

Notch signaling pathway is involved in oogenesis and the secretion of ovarian hormones .It controls prolifera-tion and differentiation of ovarian stem cells .In addition, the Notch pathway is also involved in ovarian carcinogenesis .

Objective To establish a method of gold nanoprobe-based solution hybridization (GNBSH) to detect nucleic acid sequence-based amplification (NASBA) products for the rapid diagnosis of invasive aspergillosis (IA).Methods The Aspergillus specific 18S rRNA was amplified by NASBA and then the amplified products were hybridized with the gold nanoprobes which were modified with thiol compounds at the 5'end.Serum samples from 106 patients,including 14 with a definite IA,32 with suspected IA and 60 without IA,were detected by the established method,and the obtained results were compared with that of galactomannan (GM) test to evaluate its accuracy.Results The gold nanoprobes only hybridized with Aspergillus NASBA products but not other non-Aspergillus strains.The sensitivity,specificity and the area under the ROC curve (AUCROC) of the established GNBSH method for detecting 106 clinical samples were 82.61％ (38/46),81.67％ (49/60) and 0.890,respectively.The sensitivity,specificity and AUCROC of GM test were 56.52％ (26/46),83.33％ (50/60) and 0.723,respectively.Conclusion The established GNBSH method to detect Aspergillus NASBA products has high sensitivity and specificity and simple operation,which may be used to detect the infection of Aspergillus by clinical laboratories.

Objective To study the growth difference and possible mechanism between nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) cell line CNE-2 and its subclone S-18.Methods CNE-2 and S-18 cells were cultured in vitro.6 x 105 cells/mouse were xenografted subcutaneously in the back of nude mice.The volumes of rumors were measured on the 3 rd,7 th,10 th,14 th day after grafting.Mice were sacrificed on the 14 th day and tumors were isolated and weighed.RNA from tumor tissues were extracted and transcriptional levels of HSP27 and NF-K B were detected.Results (1) S-18,instead of CNE-2,grew to form tumor mass 7 days after xenografting subcutaneously;both cell lines formed tumor mass 10 days after xenografting,however,the volumes of S-18 tumors [(223.13 ± 21.32) mm3,10 th day;(420.25 ± 24.52) mm3,14 th day] were significant bigger than CNE-2tumors [(113.70±11.70) mm3,10thday;(279.86±25.78) mm3,14thday];The weights of S-18 umors were significantly higher than CNE-2 tumors on the 14 th day after xenografting;(2) The transcriptional levels of HSP27 and NF-KB in S-18 tumor were significantly higher than in CNE-2 tumor.Conclusion Xenografted S-18 NPC grows faster than Xenografted CNE-2 NPC.HSP27 and NF-κ B are probably involved in the regulation of growth in NPC.

Objective To establish and evaluate a method for determination of total arsenic in urine by test-tube rapid digestion hydride generation atomic fluorescence spectrometry.Methods After digestion of urine samples using graduated test-tube and graphite digestion apparatus,arsenic content in urine was determined with atomic fluorescence spectrometer.Then the test results were evaluated by using quality control measures,such as precision and accuracy experiments,and the results between different laboratories were reviewed and compared.Results The urinary arsenic was in a linear range of 0-0.300 mg/L,correlation coefficient (r) ＞ 0.999 3,detection limit was 0.000 21 mg/L,relative standard deviation (RSD) ≤4.62％ and the recoveries of standard addition were 93.9％-104.3％.The value of standard reference material measured was within the allowable range.The blind sample of the national urinary arsenic was qualified.Conclusions This method is suitable for large scale determination of urinary arsenic for its micro sample amount needed,less interference and strong practicability.The error results are in a controlled range.
