Sperm ultrastructural abnormalities are often associated with sperm motility, the integrity of genetic material, and the fertilization potential. The investigation of sperm ultrastructural abnormalities is based on the evolution of microscopy techniques. In his paper, we review the improvement of the microscopy techniques and the ultrastructure of several specific morphological defects and he apoptotic spermatogenic cells in order to expound the significance of sperm ultrastructural observation in clinical practice. We deem it necessary to analyze the sperm ultrastructure before exploring the pathology and adopting assisted reproductive technology for some special patients with teratozoospermia.

AIM: To investigate the effect of cyclin B1 antisense oligodeoxynucleotide (ASON) with liposomal transfection on proliferation of HL60 cells. METHODS: After cyclin B1 ASON with liposomal transfection was used in vitro co-culture with HL60 cells, the protein and mRNA expression levels of cyclin B1 were measured by flow cytometry and RT-PCR. The cell apoptosis was detected by electron microscopy, in situ cell apoptosis detection kit (POD),DNA agarose gel electrophoresis and flow cytometry. RESULTS: In cyclin B1 ASON group the protein and mRNA expression levels of cyclin B1 were significantly inhibited than those in sense oligodeoxynucleotide (SON) group and blank group. Morever, when the ASON concentration increased, the proliferation ratio of HL60 cells and CFU-HL60 clony unit were also significantly inhibited. The apoptosis of HL60 cells was also observed. CONCLUSION: Cyclin B1 ASON specifically inhibited its protein and mRNA expression levels as well as the HL60 cell proliferations and induced leukemia cell apoptosis. It's effect depended upon the concentration of ASON.

To analyze the composition regularity of prescriptions containing Scutellaria baicalensis in Drug Standard of Ministry of Public Health of the Peoples Republic of China--Chinese Patent Medicines and Preparations on the basis of the traditional Chinese medicine inheritance support system (TCMISS), in order to provide reference for new drug R&D. the platform's software V2.0 was applied to establish a database of prescriptions containing S. baicalensis. The software's statistical statement module, association rules and improved mutual information method and other data mining technologies were adopted to analyze commonly used drugs, combination rules and core combination of S. baicalensis prescriptions. Having analyzed 477 prescriptions containing S. baicalensis, the researchers summarized 45 most commonly used drug combinations, whose ingredients mostly had functions of heat-clearing and damp-drying, purging fire for removing toxin and hemostasis. Drugs adopted in core combinations were relatively concentrated and selected according to definite composition methods. There were 23 diseases that S. baicalensis were most frequently applied in the treatment. Having compared three highly frequent diseases--cold, cough and dizziness, the researchers concluded that S. baicalensis could show different therapeutic effects through different combination ratios. Therefore, TCMISS (V2.0) is an important tool in analyzing the composition regularity of traditional Chinese medicines. The longitudinal and parallel comparison method is an effective method for studying the clinical composition regularity of S. baicalensis, while providing reference for new drug R&D.

Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica 2014;49(2):183-189
The core-crosslinked polymeric micelles were used as a new drug delivery system, which can decrease the premature drug release in blood circulation, improve the stability of the micelles, and effectively transport the drug into the therapy sites. Then the drug bioavailability increased further, while the side effect reduced. Most drugs were physically entrapped or chemically covalent with the polymer in the internals of micelles. Based on the various constitutions and properties of polymeric micelles as well as the special characteristics of body microenvironment, the environment-responsive or active targeting core-crosslinked micelles were designed and prepared. As a result, the drug controlled release behavior was obtained. In the present paper, the research progress of all kinds of core-crosslinked micelles which were published in recent years is introduced. Moreover, the characteristic and application prospect of these micelles in drug delivery system are analyzed and summarized.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2014;(45):7239-7245
BACKGROUND:Previous tudies have shown that the anti-aging effects of stem cel s with lycopene are more significant, and can also significantly improve the aging body immune function.
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the anti-aging effects of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cel s combined with lycopene on the aging beagles.
METHODS:Sixteen aging beagles (6-7 years old) were randomly divided into two groups:aging control group and aging treatment group;young beagles (3-4 years old) were chosen as young control group. In the aging treatment group, human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cel s combined with lycopene was given;while in the other two group, an equal amount of DMEM/F12 cel culture medium and sunflower oil was given. Each dog's general conditions were observed regularly during the whole progress. The changes of superoxide dismutase,
malondialdehyde, glutathione peroxidase in the serum were detected at regular time of the whole process, and the structure changes of each organ were observed at 24 weeks of treatment.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1) Before treatment, the levels of superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase in the aging control and treatment groups were lower than those in the young control group (P<0.05), while the malondialdehyde content was higher than that in the young control group (P<0.05). However, there was no significant statistical difference between aging control and treatment groups (P>0.05). (2) For the aging treatment group at 24 weeks of treatment:the beagle fur became clearer and smoother, motility was strengthened, appetite became better;and the activity of superoxide dismutase in serum at 8 to 24 weeks of treatment increased significantly compared with before treatment (P<0.05), the activity of glutathione peroxidase significantly increased from 6 weeks (compared with treatment before, P<0.05), the malondialdehyde content decreased significantly from 4 weeks of treatment to the completion of the experiment (compared with before treatment, P<0.05). (3) After the experiment, the microscopic observation showed that compared with the aging control group, the tissues and organ structures of the aging treatment group were al clear, had no inflammatory infiltrates, no obvious necrosis and fibrosis lesions. These results were mainly consistent with the observations of young control group. The above results show that umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cel s combined with lycopene therapy on the natural aging beagles may enhance the activities of antioxidant enzymes, reduce malondialdehyde content, and their combination also can repair tissue structures and promote the functions, which has obvious anti-aging effects.

Chinese Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology 2015;(9):673-678
Objective To evaluate the incidence and significance of perineural invasion (PNI) in cervical cancer. Methods Retrospective chart review of patients with cervical cancer (stages Ⅰa2-Ⅱb) who underwent radical hysterectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy from 2007 to 2012. To evaluate the incidence and significance of PNI in cervical and uterine tissues by microscopic examination. Results A total of 238 patients were included, 9.2% (22/238) patients with PNI in the cervical stroma. Patients with PNI were more likely to have adverse histopathologic features, including lymphoma vascular space invasion, parametrical invasion, depth of invasion, tomor size and lymph nodes metastases (all P<0.05). PNI were independent of age, international federation of gynecology and obstetrics (FIGO) stage, histopathology type and grade, and positive vaginal margin (all P>0.05). Patients with PNI had shorter disease-free and overall survival (P=0.002 and P=0.008, respectively). On multivariate analysis, risk factors for recurrence and death included parametrical invasion and depth of invasion (P<0.05). Similarly, risk factors for recurrence included lymph nodes metastases (P=0.024). However, PNI was not identified as an independent risk factor for either recurrence or death (P>0.05). Conclusions PNI exists in early cervical cancer. PNI is associated with tumor size, depth of invasion, parametrical invasion, lymphoma vascular space invasion and lymph nodes metastases. PNI represente a decreasing disease-free and overall survival in patients with early-stage cervical cancer, and is independently associated with multiple high-risk factors, which be informed management decisions regarding adjuvant therapy.
