To study the cost-effectiveness of temozolomide combined with radiotherapy in the treatment of glioblasto-ma. Methods:According to the clinical trial data, cost-effectiveness and sensitivity of the results was analyzed based on the domestic cost and consumption level. Results:Temozolomide combined with radiotherapy could prolong one month of overall survival with the additional cost of RMB 58 959. 7 yuan in each case when compared with radiotherapy alone. Conclusion:Temozolomide combined with radiotherapy has no advantage on cost-effectiveness when compared with radiotherapy alone.

Objective To evaluate the long-term effects and safety of diode laser in hair removal.Methods A retrospective study was conducted.In this study,350 patients with hypertrichosis were treated by an 800-nm diode laser with a pulse duration of 30 ms for various sessions.Two groups were divided based on the treatment sessions:group A receiving 6(≥4 for axillae)or more treatments,group B less than 6(＜4 for axillae)treatments.Patients were followed up for 8 months to 3 years(mean 22.5 months)by return visit or telephone.Evaluation of efficacy and side effects were performed.Results Follow-up and evaluation were completed in 235 patients,and a total of 375 sites treated.After 2-18 treatments,a total effective rate of 80.53%(302/375)was achieved.Significant higher effective rates were observed in group B compared with group A at all sites 86.84%(33/38)vs 35.00%(7/20)on the lips,68.42%(26/38)vs 30.77%(4/13)on the face and neck,92.00%(46/50)vs 55.56%(5/9)in lower extremities,86.96%(20/23)vs 50.00%(4/5)on the trunk.93.81%(91/97)vs 55.56%(5/9)at the axillae,92.16%(47/51)vs 73.68%(14/19)in the upper extremities(all P＜0.05),Side effects were noted in only 6 cases,including hyperpigmentation,itching,and development of follicular papules,blisters and white hair.Neither hypopigmentation nor scarring was observed.Conclusions Diode laser system is effective and safe for hair removal.The effect varies with lesional sites and treatment sessions.

Objective To examine the role of p38MAPK in high glucose-induced apoptosis of osteoblast MC3T3-E1 cell line, and to investigate its effect on the expressions of apoptosis-related molecules including caspase3, bax, and bcl-2. Methods The lentiviral vector containing short hairpin RNA targeting p38MAPK was constructed. The cultured osteoblast MC3T3-E1 cell were divided into 5 groups:normal control group(A group), high glucose group(B group), p38MAPK-shRNA transfection group(C group), signal transduction inhibitor group(D group), and transfection with negative control siRNA group(E group). RT-PCR was used to determine the p38MAPK mRNA expression levels in MC3T3-E1 cells. Flow cytometry(FCM)was employed to detect the cell apoptotic percentage. The protein levels of apoptosis-related molecules p38MAPK, p-p38MAPK, caspase-3, bax, and bcl-2 were assayed by Western blot. Ultrastructural alternation of MC3T3-E1 cell was observed under transmission electron microscopy(TEM). Results The lentiviral vector containing short hairp in RNA targeting p38MAPK was successfully constructed and transfected into MC3T3-E1 cells. RT-PCR result suggested that the siRNA targeting p38MAPK could effectively reduce the p38MAPK mRNA expression level induced by high glucose in MC3T3-E1 cell line. FCM showed siRNA significantly decreased high glucose-induced apoptosis percentage of MC3T3-E1 cells(P＜0.01). Meanwhile, we also found the siRNA significantly attenuated the proteins levels of p38MAPK, p-p38MAPK, caspase-3, and gene bax induced by high glucose in MC3T3-E1 cells, whereas the protein level of gene bcl-2 was enhanced remarkably when compared with high glucose group and negative control siRNA group(P＜0.01, P＜0.05).Conclusion The iRNA targeting p38MAPK suppressed high glucose-induced MC3T3-E1 cell apoptosis via inhibiting the activation of p38MAPK signaling pathway, thereby reducing the expressions levels of p-p38MAPK, caspase-3 and gene bax, and up-regulating the level of gene bcl-2.

Objective To study the clinical characteristics of children with demyelinating disease.Methods Age of onset,presymptoms,clinical manifestations and auxiliary examinations of 51 children diagnosed as demyelinating disease were analyzed retrospectively.Results The onset age was from 3 months to 14 years,and the number of school age children was 38.Before illness,32 cases were relevant to infection,3 cases to vaccine inoculation.Most of children had acute courses.In the initial stage,32 cases with peripheral nervous demyelinating disease presented to paralysis of limbs;18 cases with central nervous demyelinating disease presented to visual disorder,somatasthenia,fever,convulsion and headache.The EMGs of children with peripheral nervous demyelinating disease showed nervous lesion.Among 18 children with central nervous demyelinating disease,17 cases showed abnomal signal on MRI or CT.Conclusions Children with demyelinating disease displays diversified clinical manifestations.By investigating case history combined with auxiliary exaninations,it is not difficult to make a correct diagnosis and its prognosis is good commonly.
