Objective:To observe the influence of schisandrone on the levels of IL-1? and iNOS mRNA in the hippocampus of rats with Alzheimer-like disease(AD) and to investigate the probable prevention and therapy effect of schisandrone on AD. Methods: Totally 30 male SD rats, 8-12 weeks old, weighing 250-300 g, were randomly divided into 3 groups: blank control group,AD model group and schisandrone intervention group(n=10). The animal model of AD was established by 10 mmol/L amyloid-beta protein(A? 25-35 ) 5 ?l stereotactic injection into lateral cerebral ventricle of rats and the rats of schisandrone intervention group were administrated with corn oil with 1 mmol/L schisandrone. And then the levels of IL-1? and iNOS mRNA in the hippocampus were detected by RT-PCR. Results: The levels of IL-1? and iNOS mRNA in the hippocampus of rats with Alzheimer-like disease (0.333 7?0.122 3, 0.266 6?0.088 5) decreased obviously after administration of schisandrone (0.969 3?0.153 9, 0.666 0?0.121 1)(P

Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2020;18(5):374-378
Objective: To observe the effect of Yi Jin Jing (Sinew-transforming Qigong Exercises) plus tuina on the neck for stiff neck. Methods: A total of 60 patients with stiff neck who met the screening criteria were selected and randomly divided into two groups, with 30 cases in each group. Patients in the control group received tuina on the neck, 30 min every time, once a day, while patients in the observation group practiced Yi Jin Jing (Sinew-transforming Qigong Exercises) plus the same tuina therapy as the control group, and Yi Jin Jing (Sinew-transforming Qigong Exercises) was conducted for more than 30 min every time, once a day. Visual analog scale (VAS) scores were observed before treatment, and after 1 time, 3 times and 5 times of treatment to evaluate the degree of neck pain. Results: During the treatment, each group had 2 dropouts. After treatment, the total effective rate was 92.9% in the observation group versus 82.1% in the control group, showing a statistical significance (P<0.05). The VAS scores in the observation group at the three time points were significantly lower than those in the control group (all P<0.05). Conclusion: Yi Jin Jing (Sinew-transforming Qigong Exercises) plus tuina on the neck can effectively relieve neck pain and improve cervical range of motion in patients with stiff neck, and can achieve a better effect than tuina alone.

Objective To explore the relationship of dynamic changes between the iodine nutritional condition and growth of children born before and after the implementation of universal iodine. Methods By means of sampling investigation, urinary iodine and goiter, height, weight, intelligence quotient(IQ)were comprehensively evahated in children aged 7~14 years old born before and after the implementation of iodine in 10 counties and 2 cities of Qiannan. Results The median of urinary iodine of children Was 91.88μg/L in 1984,133.33μg/L in 1994,316.00μg/L in 2006;goiter rate was 21.40%(122/570)in 1984,12.86%(107/832)in 1994,5.28%(45/851)in 2006;the average IQ was 89.18±4.10 in 1994,94.26±0.94 in 2006;children in each age group in 2006 has a higher height and a heavier weight compared with those in 1984.Conclusion The physical development and intelligence of children in the areas of iodine deficiency have improved along with the correction of iodine deficiency.

Laboratory animals and animal experiments are foundations and important support conditions for life sciences, especially for medical research. The animal experiments have drawn extensive attention from the society because of the ethical issue. This paper takes Wenzhou Medical University as an example to give a brief introduction to the ethical review about laboratory animals in the university so as to further draw attention and concerns from the public about the ethical issue of laboratory animals. We successively introduce its scientific projects, nurturing environment and ethical review of laboratory animals.

Military Medical Sciences 2015;(2):92-96
Objective To investigate the effect of simulated microgravity on growth , morphology, protein expression and virulence gene expression of Klebsiella pneumoniae (KPN).Methods KPN was divided into simulated microgravity group and control group in the experiment .The former group was in the ambient of simulated microgravity in a clinostat .The bacterial growth curves , morphologyical changes in electron microscopy , and protein expression were detected by SELDI-TOF-MS, and the expression of 4 virulence genes(ureA,wabG,uge and fimH) by real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR (RT-PCR) in both groups. Results Compared with the control group , the growth of KPN under simulated microgravity was accelerated , and the total bacterial count increased in microgravity group .The bacterial morphology in microgravity group was changed under scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and thinner and longer bacteria were increased .The transmission electron microscopy ( TEM) analysis revealed increase in cytoplasmic granular substance in microgravity group .Proteome analysis showed that the expression of 18 proteins was changed , half of which up-regulated and the rest were down-regula-ted.Those 18 proteins were searched in the protein library .And 21 proteins of a similar molecular mass were retrieved ,13 of which, proteins with known functions ,were closely related to bacterial life activities .RT-PCR results showed that four virulence genes of KPN were down-regulated.Conclusion Upon exposure to simulated microgravity , the growth and repro-duction of KPN are accelerated and enhanced .The bacterial morphology is changed .The strain′s protein expression and four virulence genes expressionare also changed .Therefore, microgravity can change the characteristics of KPN .

Objective To observe the effects of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 on the expressions of transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1), fibronectin(FN),and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in rats with diabetic nephropathy(DN), and to elucidate the protective mechanism played by 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3. Methods DN models were estabolished by injecting streptozotoein ( STZ ) into male SD rats, which were divided into TGF-β1 overexpression group, TGF-β1 overexpression plus vitamin D3 group, TGF-β1 low-expression group, TGF-β1 low-expression plus vitamin D3 group, TGF-β1 normal-expression group, and TGF-β1 normal-expression plus vitamin D3 group. After 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 treatment for 37 days, renal function and blood biochemical parameters were evaluated. The morphology and fibrosis of kidney tissues were observed. The expressions of TGF-β1, FN, and VEGF in kidney cortex were measured by immunohistochemistry, realtime PCR, and Western blotting. Results The levels of cholesterol, triglyceride, creatinine, plasma glucose, HbA1C , and 24 h urinary protein were lower in vitamin D3treated groups than those in corresponding control groups(P<0. 05). The degree of renal fibrosis was raised with the increased level of TGF-β1. Vitamin D3 treatment decreased the fibrosis in diabetic kidney. There were significant differences in the mRNA and protein expressions of TGF-β1 in three control groups(P<0. 05). With the increased levels of TGF-β1, the expressions of FN and VEGF were increased. The expressions of TGF-β1, FN, and VEGF were lowered by vitamin D3compared with the corresponding control groups(P<0. 05). Conclusion 1,25-dihydroxy-vitamin D3 may protect the renal tissure in diabetic rats via inhibiting the expressions of TGF-β1, FN, and VEGF in the kidney.
